QoL: Retainer ventures

I'll be short ,and to the point. Why are retainers still locked to primary 2.0 jobs? This is the second expansion I had to level a combat class just to keep my combat retainer going. Come on SE fix this.

They're not. GF has a samurai retainer.

I've had 2 DRK retainers since 3.0.

Buy a Modern Vocation for ventures from someone who allows you to hire retainers. Use the vocation on the retainer to assign them a job. Choose wisely, if you want to change the job, you'll need to re-level it.

Wouldn't life be grand if people did the slightest amount of research prior to embarrassing themselves?

I think the issue OP has is he has to relevel from Lv1 to get to one of the new jobs if he's already had it set to an older Job. I just bit the bullet and re-leveled both my SMN and SCH retainers to fit PLD and RDM.

Yes Erryk that is exactly what sucks, but oh well time to start over from scratch.

Just out of curiosity, why would you decide to change it to something new, and not just level what it was before to the new cap? To me it seems counter productive, as now you will take quite a bit longer to get it back up there rather than just leveling that other class to 70(which, and I'm going to assume something, you probably will end up doing at some point anyway).

A good question Avatre. I main DRK ,but when I made my retainers I was a warrior back during 2.0. I don't really want to level warrior every time an expansion drops ,but grinding a retainer back to max level is loathsome at best. I will most likely end up doing it because I doubt SE will change it. It would be nice if they did though.

you should be able to switch freely between DoW and DoM jobs with Retainer Vocates, you just shouldn't be able to switch over to a different type that has different venture items without resetting the level.

Something more like to the one time fantasia they passed out at the start of 2.0 would be nice Sendoh. Something honoring the work put in since the desired change was previously unavailable.

Fair enough. That is your decision to do so. I personally wouldn't do that due to the time(crafting/ventures) and gil(gear if you don't craft it all) it would take to get them from 1-70.

I just leveled the job the retainer was if I cared that much (I did drk then pld though, so it was not a big deal to me) If you had the job to 60 in HW and that is what your retainer is, it is much quicker to level 60>70 then let you retainer do that in the same time frame, then it is to reset them and to level them up again.

I know this is not a fix and I disagree with the system, but something to think about to deal with it for now.
