Can we please get something that will block unwanted FC invites I'm tired of getting them.
You could use /away but that will also block tells and party invites.
Alternatively, you could join a Free Company for the sole sake of being in one to prevent getting a /tell or invite for another one. If you have a couple people who could help you out temporarily, you could even just make a new FC and then have the temps leave so you're in a single-person FC if that's your thing.
Blind FC invites are very annoying. The chances are that any FC that spams out invites to anyone who happens not to be in a FC is not really worth joining in the first place. When I created a character I was literally invited by the same person over and over again. I wised up and just ignored the invite, letting the timer run through. I should not need to blacklist people to stop them inviting me.
I do however think that using the "busy" status stop the invites? Not sure though. Maybe someone can confirm? Though this is hardly an elegant solution.
Really need a setting in prefs to block FC invites and while they are at it add one in for block trade requests.
The easiest two solutions for this are to join a friends FC, or create your own. You don't even need to do anything with it...it will block invites(though the higher you get your FC the more benefits you get - like EXP bonuses for killing/gathering/crafting, food extensions, MGP bonus, durability loss reduction...and probably some other things I'm missing).
Here's the thing I don't like FC's and have no intention of either joining or making one even if it just me in it by myself. I don't want to use the /busy because I have friends who play that like to ask me questions in tell. And as for the so called benefits they don't matter or appeal to me in the least bit because i can get most of those just by eating food or what I get from my squadron.
Thank you I'm just tired of the 10+ invites everyday
I wish they would stop sending random invites. Funny enough is when you try to talk to those people, they get annoyed......
That or they ignore you or like one told me today if I don't want the invites just black list them but unfortunately mine is already full
TC, you have three choices here. How palatable they are is your call.
1 : join a FC
2 : make some room on your BList for the unwanted invite spammer(s)
3 : make do with recieving such unwanted invites
Take your pick.
It's a good idea to periodically go through your blacklist. Especially if it's RMT bots that you put on there. I went through mine the other day waiting for an unspoiled node, and removed a good 30-40 that were [Charter not found](or whatever it is when someone deletes their character/it gets deleted by GMs for RMT promotion).
You could just join one, not like you have to do anything or talk to anyone, you can just be in it, problem solved, no more invites. Even if you don't care about the bonuses, they're free, you don't have to do anything to have them. There's no reason to not be in a FC, if you one day decide you want to start one or join a specific one, you can just leave the one you're in.
I wonder... would it be a ToS violation to accept one of those random FC invites, only to proceed straight to the FC chest and, permissions allowing, dump a bunch of useless loot into it?
"Just blacklist me!" Yeah? Well how about you blacklist 47 stacks of beastkin blood and bat wings?!
Petty, sure, but it's a minor thing to clean up and what one should expect from spamming invites anyway. :p
Maybe if SE created a proper recruitment system then we wouldn't have an issue with blind invites. We should have an actual recruitment board in-game, players should also have a status to say they are looking for a fc, ls etc.
I;m curious why exactly you don't like FC's.
Those are definitely good suggestions. Especially the board. Have it like the hunt/market board, but companies put up a "flyer" like advertisement saying they are looking for fresh sacrifi...I mean new members. Then they could put their shouts that someone teleports around doing now on there and save time that way. Maybe have it so FCs need to rent a space on the board(just for another gil sink)
I like how people just ignore OP's wishes and tell him to join one anyways. If my real life friends didn't want to make an FC I would be in the same boat as OP. It's much more enjoyable to just not be in a FC and avoid the cringe, toxicity, spam, or all of the above. Sometimes it's just not worth the buffs especially since squadron manuals are a thing.
At the moment I would just make room on the blacklist starting with the obvious gil spammer names since those accounts usually go dark after a while. Being forced to go /dnd and blocking out all correspondence is annoying, but there aren't that many options available currently. Making your own private FC would be nice but you'll have to deal with getting people together to start it up and remove them afterwards. If you have a friend willing to help they can make alts to fill out the required starting members.
I mentioned it here months ago, but no one commented so I dropped it.

Honestly, not being in an FC feels incredibly lonely in FFXIV, but if you want the quiet, you do you, man.
Anyway, I will note that if the invites are that gross and frequent, tagging yourself as busy is the only reliable way to halt invites completely. However, if you still need to be open to your friends, you can opt to either;
1) Make a linkshell for you and your friends.
2) Use the moogle mail system to communicate as needed.
Otherwise, there is nothing else for it.
I agree with the original poster . There should be a simple check box under the chat options .
Right under the check box for trade offers .
Though i agree , the make your own fc for the fc chest , is a good idea.
Or do what do what I do. Accept. Spam constantly. So their chat is backed up for hours.
There actually is an option to auto-cancel any FC invite
My black list is full of nothing but people who send me invites I got rid of the RMT's a long time ago. And as for why I don't like them I find them to be a waste of time and nothing but toxic and full of drama as well as cliques.
The dumbest thing about the blind FC invites is that I have to decline twice. First to say "no" to whether I accept the invite, and then "yes" to whether I decline the invite. Like, what? Why is the UI trying to Bugs Bunny me into joining an FC?
Well there should be a "refuse FC invites" option in the game FROM THE VERY START, but since it's FFXIV and they take centuries to add basic options (nearly 4 years for allowing queues with the chocobo out takes the cake IMO), I expect this feature to be implemented in hmmmm.....8.0. Please look forward to it.
But jokes aside, the best advice is to put yourself to busy or away when you go to cities (that's where FC scavenge for people) so maybe put yourself into busy when in cities so that nobody will bother you. You won't get tells, but you won't get invites either.
Beside that, you can just ready your hand and just press refuse as soon as it pops.

Mind sharing said option that isn't the one everyone experimented?
Here's what you can do. Join FC. Turn off FC chat. Go into settings and disable FC tag from your name. Bam, it's like you're not even in one and you even get buffs.
I do agree, like every mmo- there should be an auto decline option in settings. But XIV at least gives you a way to ignore every single person possible. You are going to get blind invites every single day because people honestly don't care about people like you. Their goal is to get fresh bodies who are neutral or don't know what a FC even is.
Which is another point why I don't like them they see others as numbers just to say hey look we're the biggest here and don't care about those they invite. It grinds my gears when I see them using shout to say ranked 1st or 3rd on the server.
I don't see why it isn't possible to just ignore the FC invites. But I guess that's because personally that's what I would do.
I would agree but after a while it gets to the point where ignoring them doesn't do it anymore
Large FC's more often then not see people as numbers smaller more tight knit FC's see you as nothing more then a leaf blowing in the breeze. FC Ranks don't really mean anything and are listed by the FC to indicate what FC benefits are open to them not the number of people they have.
I've had one send me an invite every day and then bribe their members with gil to try to get me into their FC. And I know this because one told me that they are running a bet to see who will get me to join.
Tell them to give you 80% of the winnings BEFORE joining, then join and say FCs aren't for me, and leave. Will probably piss them off, but the they will understand(hopefully) why you don't join....not sure how it is in regards of ToS on your part...so I can't take responsibility for what might come.
I just keep telling them no over and over again
Sorry to say that then you've become that FC's joke or meme, you could file a harassment ticket but since it's the FC itself, there's very little the mods can do (what? are they going to give a warning against EVERY MEMBER of that FC?).
I do think the "personal FC" is the best bet, like, if you don't like FCs because they can get clique-y and drama filled...uhm, generalization, much? yes, since the game encourages party play and forming a "tight" group (which...it's an MMO) some players in FCs can form their cliques and in large FCs those groups will eventually get fed up and leave to form their own, and not EVERY FC has drama (and if they do, it's not all the time) which is also fixed by making your own and being the sole member (I really see no drawback to this, really, it's all the pros you want and no cons besides not wanting to make one for whatever).
There IS also the option of joining one and just...turning off FC chat.
I've been in a few FC's before and they always end up being the same so I just don't want to deal with them anymore period. I don't even want to go through the hassle of making one or use the /away or /busy because I get asked to help with runs and such. I just want to be able to block the invites and that's it.
I've never joined an FC myself. I got spammed countless times when I was a newbie but the unsolicited FC invites seem to have tapered off once I hit 70 and completed Stormblood.
There are a few ways I can think of to mitigate FC invites:
1) Clicking Party -> Party Members -> Right click your name -> Edit search info -> typing in some sort of message in the blurb that you're not interested in a joining an FC
2) Spending most of your time in low traffic, high level areas. Most FC recruiters are concentrated in the primary three city states (Ul'dah, Gridania, Limsa Lominsa) and in low level areas where they hope to recruit newbies.
3) Being in and out of duty finder. Cross-world players can't recruit you into their FC because you're on different servers.
4) Spend as little time walking around as a low level job/class as possible in low level areas. I get more unsolicited FC invites when I run around as a lower level job than when I run around as a lvl 70, despite the fact that I obviously lack the sprout icon next to my name.
