Probably the same reason I get two silvers and an unranked against a platinum 2 golds and a bronze.
It hates us. No really I have no idea but it seems really off
There's literally 0 skill difference between the average gold and bronze player.
I think if no one matches its ranking criteria it just throws in whoever is in the queue. Late at night I get tons of unranked players, where as primetime I get more golds.
Though I have no idea how it chooses to balance those players on teams against each other.
the system tries to match players together but if there is no one it will just start throwing people together to get queues to pop.
You might not be able to tell much about the average player's skill when ranked gold vs. bronze, but you can DEFINITELY tell a bronze healer from a gold one.
Hell no, you can tell an experienced healer from an unexperienced one, but there's virtually no difference between bronze and gold.
rankings is different from player skill
Matching workings like this:
- Limit players to two medal ranks below from the highest rank in the group
- Match both groups total rank points. Therefore if you are high gold, and they are say 2 low gold. 1 silver and 1 bronze, you can get situations where you have high bronzes on your team but the points on each side match
- There is allowed a gap in the two sides points, and can't remember if they removed this now, but that gap could/does grow the longer you are in que for.
Gold/Silver/Bronze mean nothing, Plat too, to an extent, with enough matches played -assuming you have half a brain- is feasible for anyone. You can have terrible luck with the matchmaking it's true, but don't think a match between anything that doesn't involve Diamond/Plat players is unbalanced. Some skilled players start the season later than the rest and you'd be glad to have them in your team because they are 2 ranks below you.
That said let's exclude career bad players, who never make it out of given ranks and end up on your team repeatedly, it's another story.
I understand the concepts of alts, but I'm curious as to HOW the game decides WHO gets put on what team. I think there may be some hidden MMR? I'd at least hope so because going off rating alone would be terrible since you barely lose any points for a loss until you reach gold... and even then it's enough to where one win you get what you lost and then some
