Trying to Enjoy the game more as a new player

Hi i'm new to the game!
and i have feed back on leveling up and enjoying PvP content at the same time.
The issue i have is starting off as being a DPS... the dungeon ques are extremely Long and i'm at level 70 right now.. and it takes almost and hour to Get into a dungeon ...
Doing fates alone isnt fun... and Doing PvP .. meanwhile i really do Enjoy PvP
i find the game mode Shatter Only Pops
and for what Exp is worth for i think itll be great if the game mode Timer was lessen to at least 15- 10 minutes because it takes so long for a match to finish ... and it just makes everything boring
i cant enjoy PvP when shatter only pops
and spamming 8v8s arent fun because im not that competitve when it comes to PvP . i just want to have fun and an ease without stressing out or being bored
im pretty sure there are others that have the same in mind

DPS queues are always going to be the longest, that's just the way it is. Only suggestion would be to join an FC or get some friends who will queue as tank or healer with you for dungeons.

Dont go in pvp just for exp, but it seems you do enjoy pvp even if it had no exp, anyway, you should make friends and see if a healer or tank can play with you to make most queues a lot faster. Also fates do give nice exp.

Wait until you find the long DPS queues leading towards the lvl70 RNG loot drops, fun guaranteed.

Yeah the DPS queues are a problem, there hasn't been a proper solution since whenever though, other than 'play something else' (what?) and 'find a healer/tank yourself' (as if that makes sense if there aren't enough for dungeons, to start with).

PVP seems like the best thing for DPS players now, since it gives good EXP all of a sudden. Which basically means we are seeing more LVL70 DPS classes each and every day. Proper solution right there.

Please go spread your negativity somewhere else. No need to infest a new player who is currently enjoying the game with it.

Finding a nice community to fit into is also very recommended!

I went hiatus back then because my static and my FC mates got fed up with the Pepsiman from A3S and retired.
Playing alone (after playing together with 10-20 active members) is suddenly very boring and depressing...
We agreed to go into hiatus and come back later when new expansion launched.

And then the Stormblood trailer kicks in, the katana and rapier beckons to us and now 10-14 of us are back into action! :9
The hype was there, but the things that keeps me going are those shenanigans and all kind of jokes we do~

All of us wanted to be either SAM or RDM or BOTH, but we take turns on the roulette and just roll with whichever class we feel we want to use~

TL;DR: You might want to try finding some communities or groups that you enjoy playing with. Kidnapping a friend and set up a key to entice him/her to play is also preferable~ :9

Unfortunately, we're not on the same datacentre, so you can't borrow me for queues. That being said, the Stormblood dungeon queue times for DPS don't seem to be too bad, and anything in the roulettes (Main Scenario notwithstanding) has a decent queue time (like 20 mins tops), at least on the Chaos datacentre during the datacentre's prime time. So don't worry, things get better for levelling. Plus, I know it's spammy, but Palace of the Dead is considered great XP too, pre-60. Might be something to look into if you wanna level some alts (alts are alternate jobs, but are on the same character as FFXIV lets you level everything up on one character).

That being said, definitely consider levelling a tank/healer, as especially tanks are often the adventurer in need so you get extra goodies for queuing into roulettes. Like cracked clusters in levelling roulette which can be traded in for materia that vary in price from like 2.5k to I think I've seen some of the materia available from it go for 750k a pop! It's not a bad money maker tbh. Do research the various battle materia prices on your server though if you're interested in this.

That's because the only real solution currently is to play tank/healer yourself/with a friend. You need only look at the bribes SE are offering (such as cracked clusters in levelling roulette), for playing the adventurer in need. SE are actively implying they want people to shift from DPS to tank/healer to get queues moving (the same will also be true of DPS if tanks/healers become the excess). Having friends around is also a good idea, especially as a lot of tanks/healers will also queue with friends so as to avoid the DF dice roll that could place you with horrible players who will give you mountains of grief for not playing to their playstyle to the letter, because god forbid you pull one less mob than they want because your healer won't be able to handle the extra mob, or vice-versa, you pull big because your healer can handle it and the DPS moan about it. Plus, going fully premade means you're almost guaranteed to have zero queue time (unless the instance servers are full, then you have to wait for a server to free up).

We're going to suggest solutions that are already out there for those that want the problem tackled this instant. When SE give us extra solutions, we'll suggest those too, though it's doubtful given their bribing that people are going to get extra solutions, but there are other threads to suggest solutions, so don't give up the fight in those threads.

I do agree that it's the best for XP, but it results in people playing like trash just because they want the XP, and that's making PvP just another XP farm rather than something competitive that it should be. I still argue that PvP shouldn't give XP, but it is what it is. It's another case of SE trying to bribe people into playing a certain something (in this case PvP), but it falls flat on its face with me. I refuse to play something I don't enjoy, but at the same time, I'm the exception not the norm. A lot of players don't mind PvP I find, once they try it (I however have tried PvP in numerous other games ranging from WoW to LoL to even CoD, I don't enjoy it at all. I'm a very co-operative person). I don't consider it a solution for bringing extra DPS classes up, I consider it an extra from the bribes to play PvP. So it's no more a proper solution to the DPS queue times than the adventurer in need bonus.

The changes recently done in PvP are clearly for enhance the competitive part of it, and frankly the "exp" part have no sense there, I'm going bold and think it is best have "exp" being removed in toto, to lessen the problem of bots or inactive players there just for the free exp.

The game have so much options for fast exp that removing the pvp option is not a big deal.

Wanna exp fast? Go POTD.
Wanna enjoy group content? Join a FC/linkshell/static.

There are limits if you want keep as solo player.

When you reach the raiding part of the game you'll be faced with reality: when solo you can do pretty nothing because...
- The raid finder groups are 99,9% requiring the clear already done;
- The "learning" groups (when any, as they are quite rare, at least in my datacenter) are a bunch o' people that dies even in telegraphs and joined raid only because tomes gear let 'em unlock it and last but not least, the group will ragedisband at first wipe (...);

I don't know how it is on Phoenix, but this is absolutely not correct when playing on Cerberus.

People keep saying dps qs are a problem. People also say that playing something else isn't a real solution... Can you please suggest a real solution then that doesn't involve building the game again from the ground and up? Because that's never going to happen. Queues are fine considering how many dps there are. Play a different role or make a party finder.

People pick dps and queue with it. The game doesn't force you to.

^ I que with my BLm everyday while leveling and barely have 20 minutes for anything except "50/60 reoulette".

DPS queues have always been "long" compared to tank/healer queues. If you enjoy a DPS, there's absolutely no reason for you to stop rolling one for content. You just need to find some things to keep yourself occupied/entertained while you wait for your queue.

Have you tried crafting or gathering? I main a DPS, and if I'm not spending my time in queues socializing with my friends, I craft and/or gather for my own personal use and for personal profit. Something to consider if you are interested in the crafting and/or gathering aspects of this game.

You could also do other things outside of the game (like reading a book or browsing the web), to sort of occupy yourself. Just make sure to keep one eye on the game so you don't miss your queue. ;3 I have missed a few queues because I was paying more attention to a book than the game, even with one of my earbuds in listening for the ping of DF.

And, like the others, I definitely recommend getting out there and making some friends. Even if it's another DPS, at least you will have someone to talk to or do FATEs with while you wait!

Make friends. Every friend is a potential healer/tank, because it is easier to find those roles enjoyable if playing with friends who don't scream at you for every small error. There aren't enough Tanks for random parties, but more than enough Tanks for parties with friends.

Also, DPS queue is already back to normal how it was always. Around 20 minutes (+/- 10 minutes)

While not necessarily a popular option, if it bothers you enough, you may wish to consider transferring onto the Aether datacenter. Currently, you're on Primal, which has longer queues since there are less people. My queue times generally range from 10-30 minutes tops.

These are my suggestions for ways to have fun as a new player:

1.) Be outspoken, never hesitate to initiate positive conversation with random people. Most time's you will receive a similar response , and occasionally even make a friend or two.

2.) Join a free company that fits your activity level. If you can't ask members to run some dungeons with you without getting a negative response , or ignored then don't feel bad about shopping for a new group.

3.) Readily volunteer assistance to those in need. Besides feeling good to do, people will remember you and want to help you back.

4.) Role-play sometimes just because you can. It's fun and can catch people off guard from time to time.

5.) Most importantly do the content that makes you happy.

They are in same datacenter, and on raid finder the situation is that (almost all raids requiring duty complete, ndr). Maybe you playing in lucky odd hours where all players are good samaritans and raids are all learning mode and newbies welcome. Good for you, tell me what hours they are, wanna check that.

Why not? as long as you try your hardest to help your team win and not be a drag or an afker I don't see an issue with doing pvp for xp. XP brought life into the pvp queues.

You are new here but are you new to MMOs? If you've never tried tanking or healing I'd recommend you to do so. Neither role is very difficult and you'll notice the queues won't bother you anymore whether leveling or capped. Leveling a tank with level 61+ dungeons and leveling roulettes will count towards one of the flying tank mounts too.

For quick leveling I recommend Palace of the Dead, highest level available dungeons, clan marks and sightseeing log (after level 50), doing all guildhests once for the xp/gil bonus and hunting log (before level 50 and not for expansion jobs), available roulettes each day and the weekly challenge log. Completing different logs and clan marks while queued is a good way to pass the time when leveling a dps.
