Why are 1.0 items still part of the game and market board?

Marketboardable things in Misc. like Sylphic redleafs, ixali ebonknots
Other marketable items like dormouse pelts, ladybug elytron
etc.

And then untradable items like vortex headdress, inferno taper, unmarked keystone.

I know some items were re-implemented into the game during the 2.0 days. But we're in 4.0 now and these items are still around.

If they will never have any use, why not just remove them?

I'd imagine some people would be miffed if their stuff just disappeared.

That said, carry-over from 1.0 should have been better handled from the start.
It's why we have the weird 1-hand Wand+Shield thing for casters. :-/

I'm surprised they didn't make wand/shield for BLM and rod for WHM. WHM spins and flips and whatnot, but BLM doesn't really do that much with their weapon.

I always hated giving up my shield... imagine an BLM with some blockrate - and the materia VI we could now put in...

But yeah i always get annoyed by that leftovers at the mb... I though we have space issues and stuff? >_>

Correct. But someone else had said some would be possibly miffed if they were removed, but I doubt anyone would.

someone somewhere would be, people are crazy like that. However it's a pretty much a non-issue if you just dump the ones cluttering up your own inventory?

I think I remember them stating that a main reason why they can't just delete the 1.x items is that any Legacy players who haven't returned yet would have data issues when trying to come back to the game.

I do support the idea that all Legacy Items on the market board should just get their own category. It's annoying to have to comb throw all the legacy items to find the non-legacy stuff. Looking at you, (Seasonal) Miscellany tab >.>.

It'd be nice if they removed them from the market board at least so you don't have to scroll through large swathes of useless garbage that nobody lists or uses in the stone tab.

I would.. Not a huge deal but I still have a bit of an emotional attachment to that junk. I'm one of the few people who loved 1.0 so having silly things like tapers, headdresses, nuts, and an item from the original Hildi quest is just a bit of nostalgia I'm not ready to throw away just yet. ^^

I see no reason for them to be listed on the MB though..

because characters still have that stuff, if they log on and the server can't find the item they have it will probably break their character data or something. Also people still have some of those items and still use them, people would be very upset if they just dissapeared.

On top of another few notes, it gives a sort of collectible status to them so people rolling in the gil can have a rare items market. At least that's what I would like to believe it could be. Some people like collecting unobtainable useless items, or even somewhat useful items that they will never use.

This is exactly the reason people run out of inventory space then complain about needing more space btw..

Probably in case they ever decide to re-implement them. I understand the Vanilla Beans ingredient in Heavensward was one such 1.x material. One odd case was the Stiperstone, which isn't actually used anymore but was on some magma fish's desynthesis list.

It's used now in SB

I still keep some seasonal items. Are they useless and take space? Yes. Are they unique, no longer obtainable and serve as memento? Absolutelly.

Is this about useless but tradable 1.0 items in the market board, or useless, but not tradeable 1.0 items in general?

I say don't be a problem to clean up the market board, but keep the hands away from my inventory.
Just buy all that useless stuff up and sell it to a vendor NPC, problem solved

Was literally about to post this, surely these items that no longer even have a use, use more memory and stuff than anything really.

They do keep dragging a few here and there back into the light of day. I had two stacks of pine lumber for example, which became a thing again in 4.0. Things like the tiered beastman currency could easily be recycled for buying items for a new X weapon step, and so forth. The more 1.0 items can be brought back or repuposed, the fewer new things they have to cook up every other patch, so may as well let them lie fallow.
