They do seem overlooked. You would have expected more prominent Duskwight in Gridania but the highest ranking one we know of was that Duskwight Noblewoman who went insane in Haukke Manor. Otherwise it is just Wildwood Elezan which I think is boring. We have Ishgard to the north with plenty of pale skinned elezan, although to be fair they likely don't consider themselves Wildwood and would look at you funny if you used that word around them.
I can think of only 3 times when a Duskwight npc was involved in a quest in any prominent manner, but then again maybe some of the elezan we thought were wildwood were actually duskwight that looked like them.
I'm hoping for a expansion that will put in some story about them; maybe even a underground zone? Do they actually have cities underground or anything like that?
Duskwight just seem a lot more interesting than Wildwood in my opinion.
Right? More Duskwight and Keepers of the Moon please.
It's true enough. There are very, very few Duskwight characters in the game. Part of the explanation is that they are, in addition to being reclusive, located far away from the rest of even the Gridanians. Namely in how they stayed underground instead of going back to the surface and living in the forest. Unfortunately, that does make it a bit harder for them to appear. I would love to see more of the Duskwights, but it's hard to figure out exactly what to do with them outside of a possible underground/underdark themed expansion.
I was rather disappointed when they brought back the (very minor) Elezen exploring POTD briefly before sweeping them away and having the Gridanians take over yet again, though it wasn't too surprising. It's a shame we don't even get to see casual Duskwights like the Keepers who occasionally show up in unexpected quests in tiny roles. If I wasn't one myself, I'd forget we exist most of the time.
I'd actually love to have a lower world expansion... exploring the areas under eorzea... meet some of the less featured clans of the races...
How much do regular folk in Gridania dislike Duskwights in general? Nobody seems to notice I'm one there. XD
I hope that they'll eventually tie in more Gelmorra lore. It seems largely forgotten in 2.x+
Unfortunately, I don't see how it'll happen with the Garlean invasion being the main storyline Yoshi wants to focus on.
I'm forever salty they retconned Estinien from being very clearly a Dusk to the same porcelain, pale skin of most Ishgardian Elezan.
You know what would be a decent excuse? Dusks are melding into Grid/Ishgard so much that the notable physical traits of Duskwrights are fading away. Make them a dying breed.
It'd also be nice if the few times we do see Duskwights, they aren't all just out to get us. The only times I can recall meeting Duskwight NPCs is when one of them is trying to harm/screw over the WoL as some minor inconvenience/troublemaker. I don't mind them being rare, but it seems like all the quests we do involving Duskwights put them in a really unsympathetic light, which seems kinda out of place in the game's writing. Almost every story in this game involving a certain antagonist group has some sort of reminder that they aren't all bad.
I'm pretty sure all the Duskwights I've come across were villains of some sort... well except for the ones surveying the ruins. :(
There are a few NPCs that are apparently Duskwight in their file data, it's just near impossible to tell because of their skin tone. For example, Miounne is a Duskwight. House Dzemael also seem to be Duskwights, but they're Ishgardian so I don't think it counts lorewise. I would be nice to have more canonical Duskwights around.
Funnily enough there's also a bunch of custom NPCs that use Duskwight as their base. Like Ysayle, Nael, and Count Edmont(?!), although lorewise none of them are Duskwight either.
I sometimes think about changing to duskwight, i definitely agree there should be more prominent duskwight elezen npcs.
Whenever there's a pale-skinned duskie I just eye-roll. It's like having the most boring version, and it's basically impossible to tell. So yeah, not only do I want more duskwights, I want more blue skinned variants, not whitey "I'm exotic inside" variants.
Just use the lighting and filter options on /gpose if the contrast is messed up. I'm not the best at screencaps as I've only just started using /gpose... but I don't think my characters look that bad...

A hundred years ago, in FFXIV 1.0, when Estinien was first introduced he was most certainly a Duskwight. Let me see if I can pull something up.

Even more damning is in 1.0 you couldn't blur the lines of the clans as readily as you can nowadays.
I've lost all of my 1.0 screenshots to a rather unfortunate accident so I had to grab this from this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fPfJaGMetI
Ah, I didn't play 1.0. Interesting to know! I wonder if the Ishgardian lore got changed between 1.0 and 2.0
