Creating an FC tips for learning?

Hello all,

I've tanked a few dungeons and even the occasional raid but I feel like everyone just rushes. I mean I have no real problem with if the group just wants to gogogo but I don't want that. Same with when joining a trial for the first time and people berate / complain when you don't know the fight. Yeah you can ask, look it up on YouTube, etc... but I'd rather just learn it on the go to ya know, have fun?

I guess what the point of this thread is how hard would it be to create an FC that actually runs things together (old and new content) without such a need to rush everything and know every fight? I see that almost every person on my server is in some kind of company and just spamming cities with a message probably wouldn't yield people with the same ideas as me.

Any tips on how to start an FC looking for members like that? I Don't even really care about the server either. I'd transfer/re-roll to play with like-minded players like that.

You may try direct contact.
For example: some players are part of big guilds because they got ninja invited and they might feel invisible on such guilds, you can ask em to join you. Also you can find people on party findee looking for guilds sometimes, or just wander around the world you will find people with no guild.
Just dont make promises and give solid realities

You could consider creating your own FC, and name it something like "The Slo-Mos". Then if you do shout ads in towns, include that you are seeking like-minded recruits with this aspect. Sounds like I am joking, but it does make me curious how many people would be compelled to join. Seems like there is a fair percentage of players out there who hate speedrunning.

Pretty much that, if I get invites randomly without that someone messaged me, or that I asked for an invite, that person will land on my black list right away. But if someone sends me a tell prior, I can then either decide to join, have a conversation, or tell the person I am not interested. But I do know lots of people that hate this method as well, they have the mindset that if they wanted to join a FC, they will use shout and ask for one.

Therefore another good method, would be you advertising your FC via party finder, set the requirements to ilvl 999 and then answer questions and invite people when being messaged. You can use the forums, or reddit, both have under sections for the specific servers and as long as you keep it updated, it should be easily found.

Yoko13, I wish I resided in Coeurl... I've been searching for a "unicorn" guild as you describe. I play casually and would much prefer learning (and allowing others to) at a comfortable pace. I wish you luck in creating this Haven! Get the word out as to what you've got, and you will have followers.

This sounds like a great idea! Wish we were on the same server as I would love to join. I like to play at a casual pace as well. I enjoy watching the cutscenes but always feel kind of guilty when doing so because I know that other people want to rush through. Best of luck at creating your new fc!

People are in such a rush all the time. I hate speed running to. Its the reason I only do dungeon groups when I have to. I am sure you will get plenty of members if you create a FC like this.

Would you be opposed to a linkshell? I'm only asking because I'm in an FC that I like but I do like the idea of having a "slo-mo" dungeon group. I also know another player that's interested in this idea as well. More chill people in dungeon parties is a win in my book. I'm only two months (almost three) into the game so, fairly new (Still wrapping up Heavensward at the moment).

There's more people than you would think that like to take it easy when running stuff. I lucked out and most of the people in our FC feel this way.

It's best to be up front and not give any crazy promises. I've met some really nice people joining our primal learning parties by putting in the party finder listing that our group is not all English speakers and that we will likely die a whole lot learning the fight even if we know what to do.

Also really important is not to freak out or get too bummed out if someone decides that the FC is not for them. Some factors like available play times are not really anything you can fault people for.

Unless Adamantoise actually is one? I may have missed it.

I believe Siren, Adamantoise, and Midgardsomr are the NA "preferred worlds" at this time.

10/10 would actually be in an FC like this almost immediately on one of my many characters, more so to extend, would actually love running content without the pressure and actually being able to divulge the environment. I think, contrary to what you may think, a LOT of the player-base, specifically the casual side. An issue is you run into many people that insist watching a guide, and rushing content is the only viable way of playing the game, thus this attitude spreads, and the people that once cared for actually playing peacefully, are now also enforcing this type of behaviour, perhaps it just grows on people as they progress, and with IRL obligations. I've never actually had the full opportunity in exploring the game, or the lore to as much as I'd like partially due to the; 'Let's get it done' attitude. These days I just craft, craft, and craft a little more, and mustn't forget the occasional time I actually do content. Personally, it just bores me as sometimes it just feels more chore driven rather than actually something to discuss

With regards to the FC and finding people with a similar stance to you it's best probably searching, but if you insist on making and leading one then I would recommend recruiting semi-passively, not the the extent you never recruit, but to the extent you only find people with similar vision/approach and it's only something you'd really find being very social and doing stuff the 'different'. Heck, go on party find either local or XWORLD and search for players looking to do synced content like dungeons and primals, or even try doing dungeons but with a more lore based approach, to where if people wish to explore and find lore hidden in the dungeons then they may so wish :)

A great example would be Gubal Library hard where there's some nice piece of lore, then you can prompt talks on what you find, then at least why people should join YOU is made pretty clear. A unified vision and approach to playing the game, and something to prompt discussion between fellow members, or potentials.

With regards to the actual finding members interested in learning, and possibly the more relevant side of this post. Again, best just taking the semi-passive, put up party finds, start off with doing content in the means it was meant to be completed.. At their respective levels, and set the comment to ask for people that don't enjoy watching guides or mindlessly following other peoples experience. Don't start on the deep-end, start with something simple like extreme primals then gradually build to other content, perhaps initially start with making a link shell to stay in touch, and then have an intention gradually building towards creating an FC so you find people like-minded and have actually opened a conversation with them. I can say a lot of these people are in the position of a ninja-invited FC, to where they've been invited, and accepted for the sake of accepting. If it's an initial linkshell with the intention of being an FC eventually, then just ensure you stay in touch and actively do stuff on the linkshell :) And when you make the FC itself just make sure it has a strong foundation, that you, perhaps have people you're on footing with so they can act as the base for the FC itself :)

In fact, many FCs probably fall over in the fact that airships aside, there's little to no distinction between said FC, and a linkshell.

There's such beauty in both the scenes and equally, if not more in the lore in this game it is almost a shame people miss it, but each to their own.

I would advertise, in the forums and also in party finder. Generally speaking myself if i were looking for a FC i would avoid those that spam shouts over and over again, lol
There is a good amount of players either new, shy or whatever that are struggling so a FC like that would be big to the community on your server i am sure

Hmmm I hate to be the one to tell you this, most FC's that I've been in seem to contradict what they are advertising. The one thing is that most people that have had the same experience and feel that they are being used do wrong to honest people out of spite so unless you can follow what you claim people may bail on you very often. I decided to do a one man FC, currently help people who don't have an FC and give them access do to the housing situation while they find a place. I also mentor them and frequently ask me to make a official content FC and recruit. It's a pain to do so, most of the time people back stab each other and want to have priority, bring drama, and aren't RP friendly to those who wish to RP. If your going to establish a FC make sure your ready to handle the grief that comes with it. Set a goal, standards, and only promote officers if you trust them. Not everyone will be what they seem, trust me on this.

For what you want to accomplish you may want to focus on new players and teach them the basics, build trust and so forth.


IF you have a house DON'T GIVE ABILITY TO PROMOTE TO ANYONE THEY WILL ABUSE IT. Set it so only you can remove items, change parts on airships, and can remove Gill from FC safe. I've met several people who make these mistakes and end up losing everything. Know housing rules on how they get demolished, change ownership if your not active.
