What if dps actions had no cast time......

Would that help? Or would it just break healers all together?

I know healer dps is kind of brain dead now without the cleric penalty, but at least without a cast time you could possibly react better to TB's and raid wide damage if you become dps tunneled, lol

It's more of a qol suggestion that would help in pugs, mostly.

This isn't a QoL suggestion. This isn't even close to what qualifies as a quality of life change.

I don't see the point to this at all. You can cancel your cars and instant cast spells still have you waiting out the GCD. Though you can act, so healers woof become insanely mobile. However making all DPS spells instant would literally break WHM. Mobile, instant cast Holies, mobile instant cast Aero 3. Just insane

It would help new healers to get more into DPSing for sure but it would completely break any experienced healers for sure. Even something like Stone IV which is 250 single target potency would become some of the best single target damage around. At 2.5 second GCD that is 12 Stone IVs in 30 seconds instead of 6 chaincasted under the old way.

The difference only becomes more pronounced with spells that have cast times longer than the GCD like Holy, 12 holies in 30 seconds is an insane amount of AoE damage. I feel like the meta for AoE fights would just become PLD/RDM healing while WHM Holy Spams with a BLM to manashift them.

Maybe exageration but yeah this is AST levels of OP.

I would consider this more of a nerf than an improvement if anything. You can at least cancel your current cast and start the next one as it is. If it was instant you'd have to wait out the full GCD, rather than a fraction of it when canceling a cast

What issue are you trying to fix?

Aside from making DPS easier, I'm not sure what problem this is solving. The cast time isn't overly limiting now, since you can just cancel it and switch to a heal pretty easily.

I think it would make it harder if anything. Right now you can interrupt cast to heal, but if it was instant you'd be stuck in GCD.

You know what is called broken? There is a reason why blm is king of dps, yes have you seen a blm no party buff no ast just one lone blm on a 8 min dps on a dummy? He doing 6k dps!!!!

If him has no cast time it will completely break the entire game

Let's make WHM broken with instant cast Holy that is completely free due to Thin Air, which is crazy OP in it's own right.
Let's also make Aero 3 into an AoE draw in so that all enemies are pulled towards the targetted enemy so we can hit everyone with Holy better.
Finally, let's reduce the CD of Benediction to 1 second and make it an AoE instant cast ability.

SCREW THE RULES, I HAVE A WHM.

Nothing would change DPS wise for your example WHM, except Holy. You can get your 12 Stones off right now. I'm not exactly sure how you're thinking this, but recast is not something that is added on top of the cast time. In most cases this would probably make healing worse, as you couldn't interrupt your casts anymore to heal.
