Instances - add basic functions

If we are going to continue to get this feature at the start of every expac, and get it again later on mid expac, then it's time to add basic functionality to this feature.

Numerous other MMO's have had drop down menus to swap instances at any time since 2008. There's absolutely no reason a 2017 MMO should not.

Every MMO with this feature auto-puts you into the same instance as your party member(s).

This is extremely annoying to deal with when doing Hunts, or leveling or playing with someone else. It adds extreme inconvenience.

Please add this to instances by 4.1(as it shouldn't take more than that time to implement):

Drop down channel swap menu

Automatically putting you in same channel as party member(s)

Right click party members frame - > join same instance

Prompt to pick instance number when zoning into an instance via aether teleportation.

Please fully implement your features, don't just implement 10% of how it should work. Thank you.

It took years before right-click report RMT was implemented. We can most likely expect seamless instancing by 2020. It's clear that the programmers don't really care about people who actually use their software. There's no other explanation for all the weird designs that will easily win the Ig Nobel Prize of Convoluted Usability.

This is the XIV development team we are talking about, half-baked ideas are all they know. They had a chance to improve it when they implemented them the second time and they didn't. This will be swept under the rug like every other problem they have, they are just waiting for the surge of players to die down so they can turn instances off again.

They seriously need to take notes on how other devs are handling their stuff like Blizz.

Or even if they dont add in switching, they should make it spawn instances based on need. If 1 gets full, it creates a new instance and then all other players go into that one until full and then the third. Either way some party awareness would be nice..

Learning from SWTORs example is a good starting point, I don't understand why they have not seen it :(.

It seems half baked because it was meant to be a short duration thing, to be scrapped a few weeks into SB. Think the only reason it is back up is the major uproar people have been throwing over Ixion...

However you are right in that this is no excuse, and that if they are going to implement something which they KNOW will be back eventually (either it be at the drop of an xpack or in the middle of one) they might as well add some, as you call it, basic functions to it.

Having to actually fly out of a map and then back in can get kinda troublesome...

Every time someone asks what FFXIV can do to improve I always end up bringing up SWTOR cause it baffles me the list of things a F2P mmo does better. Instances is such a nuisance in FFXIV you cant talk to other players in diff instances you have to go all the way to the zone exit and zone back in to choose and freakin SWTOR has had instances since FOREVER and theres EVEN a damn animation for it (You open up a drop down menu>select instance>character takes out datapad>goes to instance) and you can talk to EVERYONE they treat instances as a single instance.

And the one thing that keeps popping up now with FFXIV is the servers cant do this or the servers cant handle yadda yadda, if we try to implement _____ or ______ the servers cant ______.

Considering the state of most of Blizzard's products right now, I'd hesitate to call them an example of devs that know what they're doing. It's really only Hearthstone and Overwatch that are doing well, and with Hearthstone it's arguably in spite of the devs.

WoW is still the biggest MMORPG there is. Legion is a very successful expansion and saying otherwise will show your ignorance.

Even an ancient mmo like Aion let you swap on the fly

Or they can upgrade servers and not have the need for different instance zones. There is a lot of functionally issues because the servers seem like they are 10 years old.
