If we were keeping with the status quo we'd need one more rDPS to round that out. As to what that could even be? Who know.
Honestly there is a glut of DPS ... Another healer and or Tank needs to be introduced.
That being said I also feel a ranged physical DPS would be in order. Crossbows could work for a class. Dual Handguns, could be a class. A thrown weapon class: Boomerang, Chakram, Pinwheel. A slingshot. Or they could go completely unconventional and use that weird tennis racket yoyo weapon Vanile had.
possibly a third physical ranged. though what it could be, i couldnt tell ya.

SMN revamp: no longer a pet class.
I'm wanting Puppetmaster, be the jack of all trade of dps. :P Also Gunblades, maybe taught by Zenos or something.
Hate to break it to everyone but... we got two dps this expansion. Next Expansion will be a tank and healer. But if you mean for 6.0, I'm not really sure tbh.
Dancer...I just hope it comes out before I get bored of the game ; ;
A fourth role type would be great amd mold shattering. Would take a lot of talent to get that to work though.
I'm lazy to bother looking for the quote but didn't Yoshi already say they would never introduce a new job mid expansion? Since the NIN launch was a fiasco. Also I could have sworn he said we would never get 3 jobs again because it was too much work for the size of his dev team. Both of those decisions put far to much stress on the team and they had to take extended time off work right when 3.0 launched.
I'd have to say, no more DPS. Fix the current ones that have issues.
Next expansion I'm expecting Tank and Healer anyway.
I'd just like to see whatever's added to:
- pull off something new mechanically (e.g. actually doing a pet class well)
- bring in some new aspect to involvement as a DPS (e.g. frequent point-support)
Personally, I'd actually like to see a second job from a same class (and the dual class system modified revised), such as a Ranger or Thief, or something original to XIV such as an Adept (staff-wielding, speedy supportive DPS with a non-permanent pet), Artificer (a caster that plays more like a mid-range melee), or XIV's own new take on the Beastmaster.
Classes are not a currency, there is no need for equivalent exchange. If they decide we have enough healers/tanks, or that we have enough one or the other, we could see a tank/dps or healer/dps combination.
I'd honestly say temper your expectations and not seriously expect this at all.
Oh I could care less either way. I really only -play- BLM. I'm just saying SE likes keeping to the obvious schedule when it comes to content and whatnot. Therefore I feel were getting a tank and a healer. Given they have said they wont add 3 jobs again at once. Nothing will piss off your player base more than going two entire expansions without adding a tank/healer combo- or dps. They have to balance them back and forth because if they don't- salt everywhere.
On a different note .. (because I already gave my suggestions) aren't the DPS wait times for dungeons already long enough to be adding MORE dps?
We have enough dps thank you. And i had called it out when they announced at fanfest that the 2 new jobs would be dps and i said wait times would be horrid (moreso then in hw even)
To those that said overtime it would improve... well i told you so, wait times are still obsurd, lol
Hopefully blue mage, puppetmaster, and/or beastmaster. And while we're talking long shots with SE doing pet jobs right, hopefully they'll completely revamp SMN by removing it and SCH from the same ACN job, make SMN into a more summon-focused job, and turn the old DoT SMN into a reworked necromancer job.
MY gut feeling is that, Dancer unlike popular belief is going to be a Ranged Physical DPS.
They have fans (perhaps throw them like boomerang?) they can use as weapons and they can have much utility similar to bard, and some heal or shield or something. Make them OP like the RDM.

Beastmaster - (Ranged/Melee DPS, dependent on stance, main stat is DEX) Uses a whip, and is a combination of traditional Beast Master and Morpher. Can tame wild mobs, which (depending on their classification such as seedkin, wavekin, cloudkin, etc...) provide a passive buff to the party and a stronger buff to the Beastmaster, while engaging in auto-attack damage (immune to damage, dies with the Beastmaster, basically a DoT rather than a new pet since SE is disinclined to add new pets). The Beastmaster defaults as a ranged DPS using their whip to attack enemies from a distance. By using the Morph ability to transform into a beast, it enters a melee mode with a new set of abilities. The morph stance focuses purely on DPS, whereas the default ranged stance focuses on DPS with utility, such as a group buff increasing party HP for a short period of time. Their utility is not in the same league as BRD/MCH, nor is their DPS equal to DRG/SAM/MNK/NIN, though close enough.
While i am done MSQ because i had early access, dungeons that are part of MSQ wait times are 45 or more minutes.
If i do not bring a healer or tank friend, i guess i can do lots of gathering while i wait? The level 70 dungeons do vary mind you on wait times.
Not many players play as mch anymore ( i only seen at most 2 in duties in Stormblood) so that could be why your wait times are less, not sure.
I am caster but a friend of mine also waits rather long as dragoon.
As for Dancer being dps, it is entirely possible but i think it would be a huge mistake on SE part not to mention all the fans that had wanted Dancer in SB rather then say Sam
They need to NOT add DPS next expansion and add a healer and a tank.

What about Berserker? A Job that somewhat plays like Warrior that is a full fledged DPS

I'm not asking for a DPS INSTEAD of tanks or healers. Not even about when they would add them. This thread is about hearing what kind of DPS, gameplay, theme wise or else people miss and/or would like to see in the DPS area. Plus they will add what they want no matter what, ultimately.
The question I made, other than other things, has a base of curiosity connected to the fact that what were the former more desired jobs are now in-game. So giving white paper understanding what are the player desire on the DPS area.
If you want to talk about a new healer or tank there are similar threads for them in their role subform.

Boomerangs are usually a tool used by aboriginal hunters, so... Hunter job wielding boomerangs!
Or we can go for a different theme: Acrobat, wielding boomerangs!
In the FF Wikia, Boomerang is described to normally be associated with Thieves and Ninjas. We already got Ninja so... how about adding a Thief (unrelated to rogue) that wields the Boomerang?

Sure. And not all of them have to be tanks and healers to balance out the number of DPS that are added. Trying to maintain a ratio never ends up being cool. If they do another 3 jobs that's fine. If they decide to only add one healer, that's fine. But I don't think adding tanks just because some haven't been added lately would be all that hot.
At least in my datacenter, I am seeing ridiculous DPS queues, that alone tells me that, at least on prime time, the ratio of Tanks/Healers to DPS has gone down drastically precisely because no Tanks or healers got introduced.
Either they need to add a Tank and Healer next expansion (or sooner) or they better start making dungeons 5 people (1HLR,1TNK, 3DPS)
a few point:
Thief = rogue , then no
Geomancer = conjurer, then no
hunter/ranger = archer, then no.
berserker = warrior, everything in the jobs scream berserker even the wrath system was screaming berserker.
even if they plan to abandon the class system they are still present and are way to similar.
another rDPS gonna be hard, what will be the weapon? bow and gun make sense, plus a rDPS is treated like a support then don't expect it to have a huge dps.
Blue mage risk to be a tank probably with a gunblade (will make sense if you look at the blu of ff10-2 that use a gun for cast spell and look at FF14 lore about the gunblade)
dancer will probably be the next healer too.
instead to see which jobs is possible, try more to list the weapon, it will be easier to see what will be coming next depending of this. like:
- gunblade
- whips
- mace
- hammer
- spear+shield
