Damage Type Indicators (Received Only!)

Mainly tanks and possibly other classes that can reduce particular damage types, may have a hard time telling what kind of damage they're currently getting.

For example, you have skills that can reduce magic damage received, but from the information you receive in-game, it is literally impossible to tell. You only see you've received damage and that's that.

I'm aware of third party tools being able to tell what type of damage you've received, so this is to both provide information faster in-game without relying on third party tools.
Additionally, it would simply be helpful to see and lastly for those who are not interested, I wish to add the suggestion that this function be optional. Meaning it will be accompanied by settings to disable it as well.

Though not something I'd particularly find a use for, I think it's a great idea.

I'd like it to remain optional and would prefer the font simply be distinct without the need for yet more screen clutter, personally, but I can see why that would be useful for figuring out what you can or can't Raw Intuition/Dark Mind/etc.

Would this be a pop up? Or in the combat logs? Because currently I can see an ability name and assume what type of damage it is.

If by pop up, you mean a window, then no. It can also be added in combat logs. But it'll appear just like as you receive damage normally, only with abilities, it'll also show an icon, rather than having to assume.

For example, let's say you get hit by "Fast Blade" or "Overpower". Because it is physical, it'll appear like:

I don't think I would derive any benefit from it if it was in the on-screen combat text. I honestly have tuned that out at this point. Too many other shiny things to look at. If it was something to toggle on sure.

Tecnically the scrolling combat text needs a revamp.
It's been the same since ARR and we can't customise it (beside text size i believe)

I mean, we can't even filter our dmg from other player dmg when it comes to DoT and AoE. it's frustrating (and I'd actually be happy to see my DoT dmg properly)

For the flying text I wouldn't mind just the icons or even just a different colour. On the numbers. Red magic damage. Orange physical or something maybe blue for unaspected. And green for heals.

I wouldn't want to see every single skill name in hit by come up in flying text though that would just clutter the screen to much.

You could do it in the combat Los though but I've turned them off. The only things I get in my battle window are the queues. Like gobbie come closer or gobbie be far. That give you positioning hints for various mechanics.
