Kugane tower is impossible for me

I have severe Acrophobia (fear of heights) and even video games sometimes can set it off. Once I get to just below the balcony level I begin to shake. While I enjoy jump puzzles in games, this is just one I can never do without either an eternal bond with someone who can or a friend does it for me.

It sucks since I can never have that "I finally did it!" feeling of making it to the top on my own. I hope all of you can make it and complete your sightseeing logs and enjoy the view; this Miqo'te will just be on the ground cheering you on.

Makes me wonder, does the partner ring from wedding work in this case? Just a suggestion (assuming it works) if you are or plan to.

The "waifu warp" ability from being bonded does work. I have some FC mates that did exactly that.

That's really my best option... funny thing was I was joking about using the hearthstone ring and it became something of a handy tool discussion. We play together fairly often and he can get really close to the top. I guess we'll need to figure it out further.

The level of frustation to get there is as the same as dark souls in my opinion.

Without going as far as to say that I specifically have the same condition, I do get rather uneasy when heights are concerned, be it IRL or ingame. Although, it depends. I think it's part "being in control", part "seeing what's below". If I'm flying and have control over it, I'm okay, but if I look down and I can't see what's under me (for example, Sea of Clouds, or underwater if the bottom is dark or far away), I start getting uncomfortable palpitations. I suppose that I am bit better off than you are, but I think I still understand you. I felt a little bit uncomfortable falling long distances when failing a jump in the tower, but it was not too bad for me...

I do get the same way myself. Example being if I run off a cliff (on accident or purpose) I feel my legs tense as I brace of impact (happens in games like GTA5 too) yet when I am in full control, I am fine.

Wow, didn't know it could be so bad. I'm acrophobic myself, but it's mainly limited to footing I can see through, and waist-high railings being the only thing separating me from a fall IRL.

Video games, it's not a problem. You just won't find me climbing one of those towers of rope, and nets in places like Dorney Park/Sesame Place, or 4 stories off the ground on a fire escape unless the building is actually on fire...

I can partially relate with the OP.

Even in a videogame, if I see myself/character falling, any distance that requires like a second or longer. I get the distinct feeling of weightlessness and falling in the back of my head and it shoots down my spine. It ONLY triggers from such a sight though, oddly enough only in interactive mediums.

I'm used to flying on mounts (used to play WoW) it's more the anxiety of the fall is the issue with the tower.

In dungeons there's usually enough to keep me distracted form the elevation. Also the fact you can't fall off helps.

Perhaps distracting yourself while doing the jump puzzle might help? Listen to an audiobook or watch youtube/tv/netflix/other streaming service on another device while you attempt it. At least for me I've successfully distracted myself from odd feelings of weightlessness when my character is falling off attempting the puzzle. Though it should be noted I don't have the phobia, nor a general fear of heights. Just watching my guy fall just triggers that feeling for some reason.

If that doesn't work I'd be willing to lend aid with the aforementioned "waifu warp" seeing as you're also on Coeurl. I'm determined to get to the top one of these days despite my less than ideal work schedule.

This is why I like this community so much more than WoW's. You guys are awesome; maybe I'll take another hard crack at it if work doesn't kill me tomorrow. :P

The best way to fight any phobia is to gradually expose yourself to your fear. One step at a time. Then look down over the distance you covered. When you're comfortable, continue exposing yourself to greater heights.

it does work. thats what my husband did once i made it to the top.... lol

There is a second, easier, and less scary, jump puzzle over by the hotel/hot springs.

There is a sightseeing spot up there to get, too, and has you more of less running along the rooftops to the hotel, then doing a few tight jumps to the tubs on the rooftop.

If you want to try to acclimate yourself a bit before attempting the tower, you can try that.

And remember. It's okay if you can't do it, but it's only a game and you are perfectly safe and sound while playing.

I also have a fear of heights, but what helped me both in real life as well as with this specific jumping puzzle, is to simply focus what’s in front of you and don’t look down (unless you can focus on the platform you’re standing on). When you get to the point where you’re just below the balcony, there will be a few jumps which might make your stomach turn. Whatever you do, don’t look down and just focus on the beam you need to jump on.

Eventually you will make the jump and the excitement and relief you feel when you actually make it on top of the roof, is well worth the time you’ve invested in it.

I mean, it took me about 4 hours in total to get up there. (^_^; )

Aw that sucks OP. I can kind of relate but on a less extreme level, I get vertigo even in games. I jumped off the tower and urgh, I regretted it. xD Hope your bond partner can make it so you can too. ^^

I got my roommate to do it for me...I am veru scared of heights too! So i really do feel your pain with this one

I didn't thought about it! I should marry someone who con easily reach the top and then teleport!

I have issues with depth perception (partially blind) so as soon as I heard the jumping puzzle tower was a thing, I figured I'd never be able to do it. Heck, I had enough trouble jumping across the rock pillars to help that Kojin. So I've pretty much resigned myself to not being able to get up there. But I do love the screenshots people post - it looks like an amazing view!

I've never managed to complete the puzzle myself, because at a certain point the shaking just becomes too much to do accurate jumps but what I've found to help a lot is treating the whole thing like a 2(.5)D platformer.
That is orienting the camera so the pegs or ledges you need to jump to are all more or less oriented with the "background" and then jumping sideways along said background plane.
It takes some fiddling when you need to jump past or around corners but essentially taking depth out of the puzzle makes it a lot easier to deal with for me.
Also strafe jumping is easier for me to handle when I need to do accurate jumps but that might just be me.

Wouldn't doing this yourself, knowing that you can't actually die or even get hurt from falling while playing a virtual character, be a good way to start getting over your fear of heights in a save environment?

This worked well for me too! Always remember its you who are in control and there's no written rule of doing it all at once. Take as many breaks as you need to during climbs. Step away from the computer for some air to settle the nerves and go back when you're feeling comfy with a few more jumps.

Yes, actually, I do. I usually handle flying by setting auto-run and alt tabbing out, only checking back in every so often to make sure I didn't overshoot.

Sea of Clouds was *horrible.*
