A possible fix for MULTIPLE Glams on one item..

Just a thought I had.. but I was wondering if this would fix the multiple glams on one piece of gear issue:

When you acquire any gear in the game, say a healer chest, you take it to a specific npc, and then have said npc make a copy of the chest piece. You now 2 of the same items, and can now glam your healers into different looks!

Thoughts?

If I'm understanding this right, as things currently are, this wouldn't work for pieces of gear that are unique (you can only have one copy in your inventory), which would make it only really useful for crafted gear you could already get multiple copies of anyway. It would also severely exacerbate the inventory bloat issue.

There just isnt enough space in my armoury chest for all that extra glamour for this to work

That's why it's glam. You do it at the risk of your inventory.

I'd rather they just do what the other games are doing to handle it instead of forcing us to clog our inventory further.

i like the idea of it but i think it will create too much stress for the server
i want glam WHM/SCH/AST in their own job specific gear...

That is what she means, having 3 of the same outfit to glamour into their own set. Which for just 3 healers would be 15 armor pieces (3 head, 3 arm, etc... not counting accessories) in the inventory/storage.

I always felt like we should glamour outfits to the job crystal, not the items.

sounds complicated to do programming-wise and a little weird because your outfit won't change as you put new armor on...

While not a bad idea per se, it's a band-aid solution. There is no excuse for the archaic glamour system we have given FFXIV is not made by some random indie-developer, but one of the most renowned AAA studios in the industry. The whole server rationale is, frankly, insulting at this point. If your servers are that bad, upgrade them. When F2P games like Blade & Soul can figure it out. FFXIV should be able to.

So...you want to keep the current system as opposed to a catalog filled with all the ones you have already collected? First time I heard someone against it but alright :P

I could totally have an outfit specificly for the Susano fight.

They give you 10 glamour slot that you can toggle the display when in your character menu, in there, they should let you copy the gear that you want to glamour into the desired slot. The system would work kinda like switching job, when you equip that glamour slot, you equip the glamour set after you save it.

Nah by "don't need to reinvent the wheel" I meant that good ideas for costume systems are already out there (in other MMOs) and SE shouldn't try to come up with their own ~*special and unique*~ system that would invariably end up being convoluted and burdensome on the player.
