Double the Housing Wards Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't be the only player to think that owning more than 1 or 2 houses ( a personal and a FC house) is wrong. Square Enix is dropping the ball on this so hard. It's a bad joke. People that own more than 2 houses, one personal and one FC, should be given a 30 day window to pick the houses they want to keep. Once they pick their houses, the others get demolished and nothing is saved. Serves them right for being greedy and monopolizing an already extremely rare resource. Or an easier and faster way to solve this problem, double or triple the housing wards on all servers. Also, just throwing this out there, but does it not seem stupid that a player can buy as many houses as they want/ can get land for, but you can only buy one apartment..... that's backwards and really really dumb on the devs part. We the players, who pay a lot of USD for FFXIV, DEMAND that something be done to solve this problem.

I'm going to keep posting this problem until something is done about it.

Yep, you're not the only one who thinks like that. There's probably 50+ threads complaining about the whole thing.

Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism, where adding features costs money. Could they afford it? Sure. Will they lose more money in lost subs than the cost of the servers by not adding more wards? I doubt it.

Also, if I recall correctly, Mateus is/was one of the lower population servers, and the housing wasn't even full there until relatively recently (from what I hear). Why are you DEMANDING that people lose what they paid for when there were still empty plots when people bought the extras on their other characters?

People who think it will remain empty are either stupid or deluded. I have seen people with 8 houses recently on my server some with 4 it's ridiculous.

Or it shows that SE has been listening to feedback and is incorporating it into their design now: limit the amount of housing resources a single player can own.

You were justifying people buying extra houses on alts because they were available. So that is assuming that no one else would ever want a house or the wards would remain empty. Unless you are condoning people owning 16 houses and being little greedy <insert profanity>s.

Unfortunately not really an option due to how they were designed. Each housing ward is actually a zone, not an instance, which means it's always running. That means there's 72 housing zones per server (12 wards and 2 subdivisions and 3 areas). That's more zones than every other zone in the game combined. Now multiply it by 66 servers, that's 4,752 zones they have to keep running all the time, just for housing.

Although we don't know for sure, it's quite likely that Shirogane will have 12 wards to match the others so that's another 24 wards/zones per server, bringing the total they have to constantly keep running to 6,336. Ouch.

I agree with you it would be great if they could just add more wards, but as we've seen in the past it takes them a lot of time/effort to do that and they've said themselves if they could just add more zones that easily, they would.

Sorry, but that's not quite true, you can't buy as many as they want. Each character can buy one personal house, one house for a Free Company and one apartment.

So technically an account with 8 characters on the same world could buy 8 personal houses, 8 FC houses and 8 apartments on the same world.

Someone can't just create a new character and straight away buy one though, it's not that easy. Personal houses require level 50 and Second Lieutenant rank in the Grand Company. FC houses require that the FC is rank 6. Both of these are obviously doable, but still require some effort.

SE have acknowledged the controversial housing issue numerous times, introduced some new features and restrictions but it has remained mostly the same despite it being a problem for many years now. Why? Most likely it's because it's not as simple as adding more wards.

If SE encounter complications with increasing character inventory slots due to server related issues, then something significantly more complex like housing would also be limited by the servers.

I'm not saying this is okay, I hate the current housing system. But XIV is pretty different to most mmos as its been built upon a badly designed game. SE had no choice, 2.0 had to be rushed before the fanbase completely lost faith and moved on. Many relics of 1.0 remain and maybe the way the servers are set up is being held back by some of these relics.

I'm hoping, but most assuredly not expecting, that when Shirogane becomes purchasable we'll see more than the standard 12 wards most of us are expecting. SE have been doing server updates and relocation recently, so it's not completely unreasonable to hope for this.

Demanding now? Well lets break up a bit what it means to pay a subscription shall we? what are some benefits of having multiple FC houses and such? People who own more than one FC have the right to have multiple FC homes. Just like you they pay a monthly subscription, so they aren't really doing anything wrong. Now then RTM traders are a different story, Pay subscription and sell them at high prices is insane, yet hard to identify. SE would need hard evidence before they can act on it. Now then your right SE has some control, hence why they started the apartment program. If your not an FC leader you can always get a room there as well and ask your FC to help you by giving you access. I am a one man FC and have an alternate. I use them mainly for the additional room, airship gathering. To demand things is just childish being childish. Some of us CAMP out soon as new areas are being released. You can keep posting, and complaining yet the truth of the matter is SE is trying to meet demands and has to consider stability. IF you need certain things ask for help from your FC or join one that can help you. Your not special, we all pay our fees. If you want to decorate go play the SIMS , if you want to garden ask for help in the mean time save gill, ask for time off when homes are announced ( if your working ) and camp it out like most people who have houses had to do it. No offense but there is more behind the scenes than you think. IF SE could fix it with out hindering server stability, they would have done so already.

I wasn't really talking about the player characters themselves buying the houses. I have a problem with the Players that buy 12 houses for themselves. Not only is it greedy and monopolizes the market so other honest players can't get housing, it's just wrong. We all pay the same to play, so no one player should have a monopoly on something like this.

Equare Enix is a multi-billion dollar company, I'm sure that if they wanted to add more wards to the housing they could. What is the point of my subscription if not to pay for the up keep and addons of this game?? $15 per player each month is a lot. Not including the Mog Station sales as well.

FFXI had instanced player housing. Everyone got one, no one complained, and they added updates to make the house better and more useful. Plus you could show them off to your friends. It was simple and it worked.

I have a small plot

A apartment and Fc room

Does that count?

Maybe they should have just allow people to purchase the whole fricking ward and share with friends instead of releasing 12 wards per housing zone. Or even make 1000 Wards so that there will always be a room for people to purchase a house in a area that they might want.

Oh wait. They can't because they keep telling us about how their data servers are so limited :(

Can't they just make this game more friendly environment instead of causing unnecessary toxic system? this is literally a system to make people enjoy casual content.

Both SWtOR and Wildstar have instanced housing that can be visited by other players if they allow, via a housing menu in a town or main city. SWtOR housing, which was created after the game released, allows 4 different styles/sizes on totally different planets which offers even the most obsessed housing enthusiast to wallow in their glory.

Housing is just really bad but If I could not have a house here, I would find another game to play. They also need to dump those stupid and annoying item action arrows and replace with something else. They ruin the look of your house.

You can turn them off. Character Config > Display Name Settings > NPCs > Housing Furniture > Never

What an asinine argument. You pay to play, so you should have access to everything? Welp, too bad. You snoozed, you lost. That's the way of the world. Your subscription pays for your access. Nothing else. It can be pure profit at this point. If they bought their plots, it's theirs. It took them time and effort. If you're referring to the two players on Mateus ( curious, are you a Mateus transfer, or are you a native? ) that's just their way of playing.

So are you also whining about seasonal items you might not have? What about limited items? 28 plots is not a monopoly, and guess what? When they open up housing, you might still miss out, because that's the game.
