The shatter nightmare!

Anyone else confused why everyone is spamming shatter in fronlines only? Its like a nightmare trying to pvp and enjoy and level your classes at the same time. Being a hardcore pvper since OG wolve den before fronlines release and a secure fanboy and love seal rock being the real straight up pvp mode and no nodes or ice like shatter. Its very hard to see how someone would spam one mode 24/7 (Shatter) and it be the worst mode to most of the lontime pvpers. Shatter is truely a nightmare because spamming it 24/7 is making me and now more and more people are getting to the point of hating it. I think we need something done to mix it up because even in fronlines roulette Shatter only pops! I actually think putting all fronlines mode into one and be like a constant rule/mode rotation would be great for the fronlines player! The shatter nightmare and burn outs getting real. Not hating because its kinda fun but repetitive killing pve ice and zerging and no actual strategy put in like secure or seal rock! :(

Besides Bots and the obvious exp tier rewards?

Rewards are same now, all mode are on even ground

hmmm as Far as I know there still a difference, only thing changed was the ranking rewards. First gets more than second ect. Do you happen to have the link of newest updates on PvP i couldn't find it.

Only 3 main zones older ones are still lower XP.

You can easily avoid actual PvP and still win the easiest I think out of the three modes. Wins give you credit towards every single mount. People have an excuse to be afk, lazy, leech at home base which isn't contested too often. It's old now but it's still the newest frontlines mode. And I think people are just used to playing it by now. Most players that are new to pvp never even played the other two modes so they don't even know how and just stick to what they know.

I wish the game randomly chose a map like it does for Feast.

I am sick. To death. Of Shatter.

The way most people play in Shatter would be better suited for any mode BUT Shatter lol, I don't know why they don't just go for the other modes. I just about threw a parade a few weeks ago when I got a 72-man Secure, but I haven't seen one since.

I get that Shatter is the quickest queue, but there's no reason NOT to tick the other two boxes while you're at it. Let variety have a chance!

The reason why is this:

- Before 4.0 Shatter was, and still currently is the newest PvP mode.
- Prior to that, Secure and the now removed Slaughter were still locked to level 50, and had some pretty archaic aspects about them.
- Seize was the older of the two new Heavensward modes, but as it tended to go before then, the newest mode was always the most frequent queue.
- The Garo event brought in a lot of new blood, who were mistakenly told, and eventually saw that you could just focus on hitting the ice or capping bases to win. And while there are many ways to win Shatter, for newer, less experienced/skilled players, passive strategy proved the most effective.
- Because Secure and Seize were "older", lesser seen modes, new players have little understanding of how to play them and thus found it hard to win, which only sent them running back to Shatter.
- The objectives of Shatter are simpler than Secure and Seize in that it's all total damage done to ice, where the other modes encourage more active combat to capture (hence "Secure" and "Seize") and hold the objective. It needs to be said that active player vs player combat in Shatter IS still a viable and important part of gaining points, but damage to a static, non-combative objective is simply easier for newer/lesser skilled/casual players to grasp. Like hunts that don't move or fight back.

Simple answer: White ADS mount reward.

I think a mode like the nadaam would be fun

Isn't the Nadaam basically Seize without an Allagan Node?

Kind of, there is one objective to claim. Lime some sort of king of the hill

I actually asked few hours ago who is queing all 3 modes and only one person responded, and he said he qued both seize and shatter but haven't got any seize pops. I have qued all 3 since day1 but never seen anything besides shatter... i am not sure how long i can mentally take shatter before i snap.

If I had the opportunity to take shatter out of the game I would do it in a heartbeat. I am so sick of that mode and the fact that it's all anyone that queues up for pvp will play.

Its the only thing that pops because that's all the bots queue for.

I do agree with some points, people play Shatter like it's TDM, really annoys me when there are only a handful of people in your GC actually playing the mode properly. The rewards are just too good to play another other mode at the moment.

I used to love Seal Rock. For one content patch in the 3.0 cycle, spamming Seal Rock was practically all I did X). I can't stomach shatter, tried it a few times and it seemed like a PvE mode wherein the opponent is a slab of ice that doesn't fight back. The few times I played, we barely had any contact with the other teams. I suspect that's why some people like Shatter though. Now I only queue for the Feast which is easily my favorite PvP mode, over Seal Rock even. The Feast is pretty much the highest tier endgame for PvP, albeit I haven't started doing ranked yet. Given that the queue times for The Feast are so fast, I wonder why people don't mention it more often.

I don't remember what patch it was but i loved that 24 man Seize era, after midnight till early morning pretty much all games were super awesome and fun. It was fun to go against small premades(2-4 person out of 8)as it meant some sweet and tight battles for tomeliths, also it wasn't clusterfuck like 72mans usually are. Would love to see 48man added back and 72man removed instead, 48 and 24 are perfect size imo and i would like to see more of those.

If you loose, i lucked up and got a 24 man and got full xp. Even if that was the case why get burned out & not have fun & play the worst mode in game? Spamming the worst mode is why people moan and groan about how bad the pvp is. Kno im a long time pvper on ffxiv and pvp is most balanced and definitely a blast getting more than 1 mode popping. Im one of the true pvpers on ffxiv who plays for fun, to win as well. Yoshida already told Novacrystallis he will enforce a rotation if people only play one mode so in a way im glad u guys spam 1 mode but im man people getting burned out already

After some of the video evidence I've seen of the rampant botting, and my own personal experience as a veteran PvPer having random new people give bad advice, then shoot down corrections/good advice I offer nicely to try to help the team, I'm perfectly willing to just abandon Shatter to the terrible state it currently is. I've got the mount, I've got the title. And while I love the map, I hate the game rule and the bad crowd it's attracted now. SE's reporting systems are too cumbersome, and screenshots/video aren't valid evidence (BTW SE, as a video editor, the amount of time/effort it would take to edit or alter a clip or screenshot just to try to report someone takes only slightly longer than your reporting system, but is sadly simpler.), and for all the reports coming in, nothing but the bare minimum seems to be done.

I'm totally up for trying to coordinate more Secure/Seize events, whether just on weekends, or whenever. Just, ANYTHING but Shatter now.

I know you mean well, but please don't encourage passive strategy in Secure or Seize. It's FAR less effective.

Well, there you go. I wasn't completely sure what the rules for Secure really were.

I wasn't trying to mislead anyone but the macro is already corrected.

I know it's a nightmare, but not for me today got 7 Adder victories in a row hahahaha

Exp wise, yes. However, shatter gives you credit for what? Five different mount achievements at once? Two garo horses, fc horse, and both orbs. Plus the kill and victory achievements on top of being able to win without needing to attack other players.

In my opinion, shatter offers the most "bang for your buck." I started pvp during the garo event myself and shatter gave me all the above on top of getting light for my anima weapon.

So due to those factors a lot of people were sticking to shatter for their various frontline achievements because of how much a win offered you. It was also a victim of its own success.

A lot of people went there and the ones that didn't want to do the mode also didn't want to wait, so they kept queueing in to shatter. Until they release a new map or two with some different achievements/rewards to strive for, I don't see it's popularity diminishing any time soon.
