2 jobs next time, but how about adding Musketeer (MCH branch)

We know they will only add 2 new jobs. But how about adding a Musketeer branch to MCH? We all wanted to be like Merlwyb/any of Limsa Lominsa's pirates...could it be possible to use the base skills/gameplay of MCH, give them 2 guns, and a few new Musketeer only skills?

What do you all think? Is that possilbe or too much work considering that the only thing they need to do is let them equip the same 2 guns and add a few Musketeer skills.

I'm pretty sure THEY even know they missed a great chance by skipping MSK for MCH. Not many are into the gadget stuff (lowest played class).
I also have to point out that MCH is one of my mains.

Whatever they add, if they add, I expect those jobs to the last of the jobs they add. Why? Because they are starting to struggle with balancing the current jobs every time they bump them 10 levels. The overhead of maintaining that many jobs will start to become a burden.

Another thing I could see is the story changing MCH to MSK. So basically pirates teach the MCHs that the MSK is the better way and MCH essentially evolves into MSK.

How would pirates convince anyone that a regular shotgun is better than lightning bullets and a flamethrower?

I'm gonna be honest. I'm about as sure as someone in my position can be that none of this is going to happen.
They won't add MSK and they certainly won't have MCH evolv into it.

How are pirates with muskets better equipped then people with turrets, flamethrowers, and basically garlean level of technology?

There was actually an interview and they stated they plan to have as many or more as FF11.

Doesn't take much convincing.

If they end up only doing two I would say no because healers and tanks deserve new jobs next expansion. It really wouldn't be fair to the tanks and healers. That would make two expansions without them getting a new job.

Just seems redundant to me.

I don't really see how having multible gun jobs is any different than multible sword weilders or multible staff weilders.

But, it would need to be it's own job, not an upgrade.

Honestly, only 2 job could possibly fit this.. 1) Ranger. but sadly this would be redundant because BRD is filling this spot unless they repurpose the job somehow. & 2) Probably the most obvious would be Corsair (with gunblades hopefully lol), Because it just makes perfect since with so many pirates everywhere lol

I agree with this plan but I feel like they often implement things that run directly counter to it. If leveling can be enjoyed as content, why do they keep adding new jobs that are halfway or more leveled when you get them? If they want to add more jobs, why do they cut some like Ranger and Thief out with the way they've done others? So weird.

They'd add Corsair or Sniper to the evolution of Machinist if they do add an additional job for it. Musketeer isn't even a job or class in any of the games.

I would rather someone with a Gunblade honestly. Magitek Knight?
But as for any "branching" then nope, please nope. Look at SCH/SMN.
Branching off has been killing SMN. Also, they need to fix MCH before
we get anymore "gun" people. It's a mess rn. xD

Next two job should be Tank and Heal
AST questline already give a touch on Geomancer, despite the skill animation share with WHM, i bet it is just a placeholder as 5.0 still would be a long long way
and no more branching, it prove to be a mess when come to balancing, just look at SMN and SCH
even if we forget about balancing issue, there was a Musket guild in limsa lominsa, it exist since 1.0 but when 2.0 hit ACN was add instead of musketeer, and MCH at 3.0, i have doubt SE have any intention to create another gun/musket type DPS before 6.0

They'll also never do another branching job again. Not after the dumpster fire that Arcanist is. Plus as much as I'd like a nice rifle using class, the Musketeer dreams are long gone. It's best we accept this and move on.

I'll believe that when they remove the Musketeer signage from Limsa Lominsa. That said, I think the best application of this would a series of dual-wielding and no-wielding jobs.

a) Duel wielding guns (A second gun goes in the off-hand slot)
b) Duel wielding medium blades or blunts (Rogue already has short blades)
c) Weaponless spellcaster (eg dancer)
d) Tanky tank (eg summon magitek armor mount in tank stance)

MSK would have been the class to MCH, if MCH evolved from a class. But not the other way. No job evolve from another job yet.
Just imagine the lv1-50 non-quest skills of MCH as MSK skills and that the devs have forgotten to put in MSK class quests.

As we see with SCH/SMN having a shared job branch is kinda a bad thing because in trying to tune one job the other job is negatively affected.

I am sure many SMN players wish that SE would just rework the class to not use Arcanist as a base anymore so that they can have more skills based off of summons (and maybe drop the constant pet system so that their mechanics can be built more around Demi-primal summons) and be able to be balanced separately more easily.

I've actually been expecting a dual gun corsair class since launch because of the lominsan signage.

Im pretty sure its SE that wants this more. I mean so far you only gotta uy 1 jump potion to get sch and smn to near max...but if they split them upp....


also op, the msk is a class, we dont do those anymore. welcome to 3.0 there wasnt a star globes guild, there wasnt a greatsword users guild, and there wasnt a musketeers guild. because MCH is the job for msk. and itd just take them too much dev time and resources to change the icons in limsa, just ignore things like mor dhona andidylshire and rhalgrs reach,, just ignore that completely, dont think about it just dont.
