Down time

What is everyone doing in the downtime while Japan is trying to get there power supplies back up and running?

Hey Shots, big fan, I am currently using my downtime to research some sort of Android app that i can connect my LS Forums to for ease of viewing. So far i haven found anything that supports Enjin's format >< soOo i am going to start researching Android app development lol should be interesting.

Also me and my friends are planning some LS events.

needless to say my mind is on FFXIV!!

what about you?

It happened right as my spring break started for my college so I'm pretty much bored... Think I'll get an early headstart on a research paper that is due in a few weeks. Other than that been playing Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I'm thinking up fun ways to fraps people who are botting. :-)

hehe yea great idea. The one i see mostly is called Dunes Radar, using some kind of SP bot last spotted near broken water bot-killing doblyns and mites.

I probably see that bot every time I head up to BW....scandalous

But yea, me and some LS mates were going to jump on League of Legends during the down time, but their servers seem to be down atm.

Prayers go out to all the people affected by the earthquake/tsunami. We'll be here when FFXIV returns!!

I went out a bought black ops to play in the atrium of things. To be honest, to get a power supply back up and running may take longer than a week. So a little bit of time invested into another game for a bit can't be that bad. Plus, I can just drop black ops at anytime, it's not like there is an end game or anything to it. So it's quick, easy, and semi fun if you have friends to play with. However, I've been developing a rash from where I have been scratching waiting for FFXIV to come back on lol.

I picked up DDO again. Since its free to play, why not. Forgot how much damn fun the combat was in that game. BEST of any MMO.

I want to fraps botting ppl too.... i dont know what fraps means but i am guessing its pretty nasty and as such i am all for it :)

Fraps is a recording program that records what ever is on your screen! so to fraps a botter is to capture footage of their perfectly timed our crafting for long periods of time.

Well playing Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and now Homefront. If you are really trying to burn time play Shogun or Civ 5.

Yeah, but who is really that petty? I mean sitting there for 10-15 min to record 3-4 full cycles. I don't feel like wasting my game time doing that, I got other stuff to do in my 12+ hours of game time every day, because I intend to hit the top 100 of our server in-spite of them.

And that only finds folks using a mouse clicker. Doesn't nail some of the better bots out there, those that will actually pick and choose the perfect action for the immediate situation, your going to have most synths done at completely different intervals.

Im basically trying to think of a.. to use the term loosely.. "Battle Regiment" to what I want to do the moment the game goes live again.. in the meantime.. im just posting on Lodestone blogs :) they are the best :)

But honestly, for the few who really would stoop to that level...cmon...why so serious?
And there would have to be an UNCUT video of it all, otherwise no dice. And I aint watching a 10-15min video of someone "botting". Besides, I doubt it would hurt anyones feelings. People buy gil, people use cheat codes, people use strategy guides and god mode...heck, folks often play a game on "easy" just so they can "see the story" pfft...whatever. Hypocrisy at its highest IMO. Honestly, I left that kind of stuff back in 7th grade when everyone was making fun of masturbation....while being guilty of it themselves.

If I want to see someone botting, Ill just sit in uldah, tis a lot more rampant than most folks think. PS3 users are completely F'd ^_^

design an in-game player based, applied for task force. these players would be granted a couple new abilities:
*Teleport to the reported bot location.
*Arrest (the bot) - actully just teleports the bot to an in-game jail house, say the gladiator arena in Uldah.

key elements of this program:
*Bot cops cannot perform these duties on their home server/world.
*Bot cops remain completely anonymous.
*In order to remain in the program a player must register a minimum of 14 hrs per week "on duty"
*Incentive to partake in this volunteer program, the selected players will gain an exp bonus equal to the amount of time "on duty"
*Bot cops get to ride around on a black/white chocobo.

*Judges (GM's) will be the issuing authority for an arrest warrant, and the oversight for this program.
*Arrested bots sent to jail must petition to a Judge (GM) to be released within 1 hour of arrest or that players account becomes suspended for a duration determined by SE.
*If a player is found guilty that character will be publicly executed with a world wide message stating their name their crime and punishment.
*The world wide message will be a new feature that will display in the upper center of the screen.
*Players misreporting bots will be warned the first offense, arrested and sent to jail second offense, progressive suspensions thereafter .

*Employing this program will strongly discourage botting, and gil selling.
*This program will not only be the first of it's kind in any MMO, it will be a fun and rewarding experience for the players that participate.

I'm just tossing up an idea here, but i think it would be a blast to ride around on a black/white cop chocobo busting f'n cheaters :)
Not to mention how much time i would likely waste at those public executions >=D

And you open a floodgate for abuse of privileges. The one cool thing is: only the truly lame will get off on going to another server just to play bot porter, therefore freeing up my server of thier pettyness. On the flip side, then Ill have to deal with nitwits coming to my server going on a BS witch hunt, burning everyone at the stake w/out %100 proof. In time SE will deal with it im sure. But I doubt it will come anytime soon. They have other things that are more important.

And I dont think gil selling is really much of a problem in this game. I spent well over 20mil getting my LW to 48, and still have millions in reserve. They flooded the markets to begin with, there's no shortage of gil in this game. I dont see how anyone but a few elites w/big wallets IRL really would take the time to buy gil.

It's just an idea, other then the crafting bots i really havent paid too much attention to someone running in circles killing stuff, generally the randomly spawning rk40 mobs makes grinding a painful experience at times. I still like the public execution bit though :)

yeah. honestly they dont bother me unless they interfere with my gaming experience. And theres plenty of camping spots in this game, so If I see a bot I just go somewhere else. The only time Ive ever really had a problem with botting was in 11. Claim bots are complete horse hokey. I quit because of the nasa bot. No point in showing up to HNM's if you already know the outcome.

This bot thing puzzles me, probably coz i am like the most noobynoob ever where mmos' are concerned but... surely if a character is always near Red Labyrinth , has 2 or 3 r50 classes and is still killing doblyns, and since starting the game has visited atherite 1 (home city) 2 (Limsa) 3 (Uldah) 4 (Cactus Basin) 5 (Red Labyrinth) and that is all.... then how can there be any question that the character is not a bot?

I do find the bots around Red Labyrinth interfere with my game, it was hard enough for a glad grinding dobs to compete with the legitimate archers running around slaughtering everything in seconds, let alone the bots that turn up still after weeks of being r50?

I cant be arsed to play Bladerunner, but unless I am missing something really obvious, each characters history is freely available on lodestone, surely it is easy to prove if or not a bot is a bot or what?

I tried Mytheon - no fun
I tried playing with my cat (who thinks he is a dog) - mildly entertaining
I watched a film - it finished
I watched another film - same
Have now decided to save all of Abes friends in the first Oddworld game again - actually much fun

Playing a little Just Cause 2 and doing some reading (picked up The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss). Work has been busier for me this past week than it has in a while, so just from the perspective of "if there's gotta be downtime..." this was a good week for it.

However, I expect it to last longer than the 22nd, and I feel horrible for the situation.

MP2FTW!

And on topic, been tweaking my new rig last couple days.
Hit 4.9ghz for a couple hours of prime95 stress testing.

Had to throttle it down to 4.6ghz @1.285v to maintain stability.
I'm pretty siked, that's a 1100mhz boost from factory settings :)
And Ive only hit 69c on full load. Should run around 45-50c for gaming.

No I didn't, I just said what I was doing.
Now I'm thinking up ways to use fraps while riding my bike since spring has sprung.

Oh, it is deff lasting longer then the 22nd. We -imo- won't see servers back up till the 31st of this month or 8th of next month.

So COD Blockops will have to suffice :(

I've been playing Dragon Age II. And baking alot more than usual. And working out....I keep hoping I can exercise my tits to a smaller size, ya know, avoid the breast reduction surgery I so need. But alas, its not working.

Oh, and I read a freaking book....I hate reading. Nothing ruins a love of reading like getting a legal career and reading regulations constantly.
