Just learned that ability on my AST a few days ago and I totally agree. I can't see where I placed at all if i put it smack in the middle of all the dps. It just doesn't stand out enough.
I actually didn't know this skill existed at all until our raid group got together and our Astro had to point it out every time.
I do agree that the visual indicator should be somewhat more visible.
Right now, aside from the AST who set it, you're basically looking for the gold glitter ring that's a bit faint or the small glowing orb with some of said glitter around it. Between all the flashy new abilities going off from the tank, DPSBahamut egi and even the enemy itself (and sometimes it can blend right in with the surroundings). Also, unless you're really familiar with the difference between Earthly Dominance and Giant Dominance, there's very little visual indicating the difference aside from the light being somewhat larger and brighter.
By no means is it "easy" to miss, but if the fight is "busy" enough the whole thing can come off as a little too subtle. and I think the gold sparkles of the perimeter of the affected area should either change color or be a bit more numerous when Giant Dominance has taken effect.
I find it a little hard to tell when it's powered up in difficult fights too. It would be nice if the icon changed noticeably or the proc animation showed up.
I was just thinking about that today lol My friend keeps remind us on voice chat to stop running out of it. Its not that we're running out of it I was just running back to my fav spot after an aoe heal. I didnt even know it was out with all of the spell spam from all the other jobs in omega fights lol
It doesn't matter if it's hard to see. People actively stand outside my WHM and AST bubbles even if it's right in front of their face. As it is I just assume they have a death wish and laugh at them if they die because they didn't take the heal. /s
That being said, would be nice if it was a little easier to see.
This. Don't expect people to maneuver for this even if it was perfectly visible. You just have to place/use it smartly. The skill requires a little foresight to use properly anyway.Quote:

Not only is it hard to see:
1. The AOE placement is a tiny thing, and not the full AoE circle, so we probably place it incorrectly.
2. People are almost NEVER inside of it.
In my experiences, using Collective, most times people would come to me and chill in the bubble with me.
Same as WHM.
But ES? Nope, miss it almost all the time. It's a pretty skill to but it needs to be more visible.
Maybe a bubble with stars falling from the inside and when potency increases, more or brighter stars?
Or hell, let the dominance thing become a big star twirling star going "STAND HERE!".
It also suffers from when players turn down spell effects to limited because you really want to see the boss during ex / savage.
As much as I love it, I actually keep forgetting I have it. xD
Yeah I agree. It's a very beautiful spell, but if you could adjust to be more viable and beautiful that'd be great. It's annoying to remind people "Hey if you want to live, stand inside my earthly star", time and time again.
Maybe make the yellow border stars connecting in a bright pee yellow line lol?
I don't have an issue seeing it and I haven't from day one. For me it's hard to understand why people have trouble(and annoying when the tank randomly drags mobs out of it). I understand that many have trouble seeing it though; someone from my raid group even said they didn't notice it a few times.
If the visibility is buffed I wouldn't complain at all.
Also @ someone earlier, the buff changes color and design when it changes to Giant Dominance. Its fairly easy to spot the differences between the buffs.
I understand some have been moved to our gauge but there's still lots of buffs and debuffs to watch... across all classes...
edit: I just.... I don't even know how to feel about this post. wut. I think I understand why people are having trouble with story content now.
Guess you'll have to start placing things down and telling them to stand where the "A" is. :P Tell them it's a life or death situation. Or use a macro alerting people to look for it as you cast.
Earthly Star is hard to see, too faint in my opinion.
I was being facetious, but thank you for the rudeness. Seriously though they made a huge song and dance about stripping stuff from the buff bar (which actively detriments gameplay in the case of card buffs you can no longer click off) and then added an ability which has a proc that doesn't show up on the button you need to press to trigger it again, and also doesn't show up on the new interface they added to replace the buff bar. So you end up looking back at the buff bar to check. It has tripped me up approximately never, personally, but I'm not going to defend blatantly bad interface design decisions.
It also becomes even harder to see on a slope; since it's just a circle of sparkles it clips into higher ground, and it doesn't have a ground-based effect that travels up elevation like Collective Unconscious or other click-to-place aoes like Shadow Flare and Salted Earth.
I completely agree with you.
I play monk and they've seperated out my greased lightning and chakra, but left my dragon kick, twinsnakes and dot timers on the bar. Considering monk don't have a new charging up gage like the other classes...all they've effectively done is created two places to watch, instead of the 1 bar.
The other thing I don't like about the new interface and totally prepared to get some heat for this, but you cannot see what people are doing. I'm finding it hard to help new people since I can't see their main buffs anymore and playing with another Astro in the party is a nightmare since you can't see each others cards.
I dunno, I mean. People weren't playing their jobs optimally I guess and SE wanted to close the gap between skilled and casual players but it honestly, truly, feels like that gap is getting bigger. Would the new HUD fix that? I can't understand why they've introduced jump pots with literally ZERO job tutorials on how to actually play the class you're jumping like every single other MMO.
But that's a topic for another day.
Yes please. Make it more visible. It's kinda sad to see my SCH and WHM co-healers waste their AoE heal because they probably can't even tell I'm using it (or they don't know it exists since it's hard to see it at all).
As a Ast I've noticed many don't see it. So I tend to use it more often before a mechanic that forces players to center, or causes players to group up. Of course you need to plant it beforehand so u can get the most out of it. But seems to work best this way currently for me.
My experience is that most people will stand in my Collective Unconscious, as long as the lazy bums don't have to move too far to get in it (which is a problem sometimes, like in RM when I set it in a water puddle that the melee can use while attacking the boss, but the ranged DPS are like: "Why u put it over der, I ain't movin' from mah happy place.").
More than anything I just wish Ranged DPS would realize that the "Ranged" part of "Ranged DPS" is a myth. At most, the ranged DPS should be standing on the edge of any particular boss' largest AoE, excepting ridiculously large ones (which are usually either unavoidable or have a safe spot in the middle anyways). Standing any farther than this gives you absolutely no safety advantage whatsoever, and just makes the healer's life hell instead. It's especially bad when the ranged DPS all stand on different sides of the boss at max range. On a vast number of bosses, the Ranged DPS should be standing with the melee. It's not that big a deal even if you're a caster and have to dodge something and don't want to interrupt your cast. How do you think the healer does it, having to stand in the mid-zone with the melee DPS to hit the tank, melee DPS, and ranged DPS with AoE heals? Simple: we use slide-casting. The only times I ever actually interrupt my casts to dodge are when the timing doesn't work out to let me wait until approx. 0.5 seconds left on my cast before dodging. And most of the time you can use smart positioning to minimize movement to dodge. Look at the first boss of Doma Castle, for example. You can literally dodge everything in that fight by nudging your character around slightly while standing on the edge of the boss' hitbox. Even large AoEs can be dodged in this manner by pre-positioning on the edge of them. Look at Spikesicle and Tail Slap in Royal Menagerie. Just stand in the center on the middle platform at the front the platform. Nudge left/right to dodge Spikesicle. Nudge forward to dodge Tail Slap. Nudge diagonally forward to dodge Spikesicle + Tail Slap combo.
Sounds like a number of you should filter your party battle effects off.
I have no trouble seeing it as a DPS. I see a lot of comments in here saying that it's hard to see due to all of the other flashy lights.
