"Brand of x" abilities changed since 1.20?

I've been skilling up on shark oil on alch r31-33 with brand of lightning since patch.

I must have popped brand of lightning dozens of times then waited for 3 turns to try clear up the instability and not once has it worked.

Granted the recipe is quite high for my level giving me 700-800 exp a pop but I can't help but feel that they've nerfed the brand abilities a bit... better start stacking up on control!

Anyone else experiencing this?

edit: I've also had the lightning insta explode when brand of lightning was active, and I've had an instability start up when brand was active beforehand.

i noticed the exact same thing with Brand of Lightning as well. like 5 times my brand of lighting has done nothing when i use it and then wait 3 times, I also just tried using it and then crafting with it on and it doesn't stabilize the synth. so i dont know if the abilities are broken, or if they changed them somehow....

Having issues with Brand of Wind on weaver, as well. I'm glad to hear it's not just me.

Same on this front. They seem to do bugger and all for the good slotting them is. I guess I can try out Improvise then and see how that helps since I can't banish them anymore.

It's confirmed here. All it says is that the Brands aren't working properly and will be fixed in 1.20b.

Sorry for the delayed response on this! We have confirmed a bug with the “Brand of” series of actions where the effect does not activate and we are planning to fix this during patch 1.20b.

Can they just take out element instability instead? :P

I would love this. You use, unstable is gone and it does noot remove the current effect you have, just like the other instant actions.

I haven't ever noticed a difference with Brand of Lightning ever since I got it. It always seemed worthless to me. What the OP experienced is what I have always experienced. That would be super cool if it could make the instability stabilize and a very useful ability.

I dont mind a bit of a challenge.
I just want my weapons for dealing with the challenges to actually work

what the brands used to do when they did work was if an element went unstable you would use the appropriate brand and then wait once or twice and the element would stabilize. the only one that i ever used was lightning cuz of the massive progress loss it gives you
