Two healer starting classes

So, when you start out(not using jump potions), I feel that it does not make much sense for there to be one healer class. There are two tanks, 5 dps classes, and 1 healer. Therefore, anyone who starts as a healer, has to choose WHM which I feel is a little boring. While I am not saying a nee class should be added(though I feel like it would be a nice idea) I was just wondering what are the benefits of only have one healer class to choose from? I mean, yes, it is probably the easiest healer class....good to teach people, but still. Why not more variety for healers? The next healer class is only available when you get another class(Arcanist) to 30.

I agree 100%. I hate that if you want to level as a healer, you pretty much have one option. One of them you can't even access until you suffer through the ARR MSQ.

should just slap the Healer tag on Arcanist.

That would be a good idea...give them a damage pet and a healer pet. Lable them as healer.

This is not a bad idea actually. Its not changing much since you get the healer job scholar at lvl 30 anyway. Allowing ACN to have 1 of each pets until lvl 30 would be pretty cool!

Well, with the new Role system, you don't HAVE to start as Conjurer, you can start as an Arcanist, and just wait until you hit 30. You have to slog through the first thirty levels as DPS, but you'd have to do that anyways to get to Scholar even if you started as a conjurer.

That being said, you're right, it never made sense that there was only once healing class. And it hurt WHM when it came to this Role system.

Noting that ACN has two promotion options, one being a healer, at character creation would help.

And if it looks weird, they can just note the job EVERY class promotes to and keep it consistently labelled.

Back when the game was still fresh in 2.0, I played SCH as my main - and actually used Arcanist in the low level dungeons as a healer - though at the time finding pre-mades to do this with was easy as everyone was at the content point I was to do it with. (Remember you can go with any combination with premade groups etc.) Though I also can say that this wasn't something everyone could do - since they had lower MND and their heals were meh compared to CNJ's own you have to heal harder... And one too many screwups came that much faster.

They should just split Arcanist already. The whole thing was a failed experiment.

They really should it wouldn't require much work either. Arcanist quest would remain for arcanist/summoner, and they'll earn everything from 1-30 automatically. As for spells

1.) Ruin = Broil
2.) Bio = Dia (light version of Bio)
3.) aetherflow = stratagems
4.) Summon remains
5.) scholar keeps physick and SMN gets sustain.
6.) energy drain becomes aspir
7.) miasma becomes helix
8.) summoner lose raise for empower (temporarily transform summon into its Demi form.) (+100% attributes)
9.) bane = manifestion

At least let ACN have the option to queue as a healer or DPS. You really only use one healing spell as a CNJ anyway, Physick is more than enough at low levels. Heck, THM was able to Cure the first few dungeons pre-Stormblood.

So something Yoshi promised was that base classes would be removed completely by 5.0, meaning that all ARR jobs would start instead at level 1. No Conjurer, but instead you'd start off on White Mage. This also means that not only would Summoner and Scholar finally get that split they deserve, but Scholar would also start off at level 1.

Seems like a rather lofty promise to make really, I mean it would be nice to finally have the Scholar/Summoner split at least.

I suppose only the next 2 years will tell whether they go through with it or not.

I can't believe they haven't done this already... Classes have literally no function in the game.

Im glad I got to enjoy the classes in 1.0 and then again when 2.0 launched. The amount of hate for classes from players in this game is unreal lol never will understand.

He didn't promised that. He said the earliest it could happen was 5.0. Also when they actually start thinking about this seriously they will probably realize they can't just remove classes easily. If all the ARR jobs star at level 1, that means redoing a bunch of class/job quests. So instead, they will just still have you still start as a CNJ, but you then get a permanent name change to white mage at level 30. And then the soul crystal inventory space could be removed. As for SCH, they would probably just make it a job that is on its own and it starts at level 30 like the DRK, AST and MCH.

OMG I love this, and I don't know what some of those things are, but if it means I get my SCH playstyle back yes, 1000x yes.

OMG... I just looked up Helux, Why is that not a spell we have, or better yet, why was Bio II and Miasma not upgraded to those, GAH! Listen, I know this isnt XI-2 but learn from it, and steal from it, lol.

Irony though it says that in XI SCH were best at HoT healing and DoT damage. I'll take the Shields but I still want my DoTs.

Carbuncle is cuter to me than the job pets. I like having that little one around for my solo content.

because removing them takes a lot of work with little to no benefit for most of the current playerbase. if the existence of classes somehow affect your play on a day to day basis you really are playing the game wrong and that's hard to do.

I suspect that 5.x will abolish classes altogether and they'll make new 1-30 stories for either Scholar or Summoner. I'm not sure what job it would suit most really.

Well not anymore, but in HW it affected me on daily basis when I had to keep swapping my stats for SMN and SCH. :P Now it only affects me when I stumble upon people who for some reason haven't unlocked their jobs (= done any of their quests) after level 30, but that's really rare now too. Now it's just a weird remnant that has no benefit to anyone in any way. I don't understand how removing them would affect players in any way though.

That's kind of the point. Removing them isn't as simple as just hitting a delete button, there's a lot of code and testing involved. To spend developer time removing something that doesn't really hurt anyone, and is just a starter version of a job, would be a waste when that time could be spent on other things that players actually would see a benefit from. It's not like it's such a hassle to go from a class questline to a job questline. Replacing that with one big quest line would not make it that much of a different experience.

Also having SCH/SMN as ACN is awesome. All the benefits of having a new job (no different than unlocking AST really, it's just a questline that unlocks yet another job), while also choosing whether to level it as a healer or dps because they share levels. Do solo quests as SMN, do dungeons as SCH for fast queues. Best of both worlds.

If they just let ACN queue up as either dps or healer, and give them an action to reverse magic attack and healing stats (without a cooldown or timer, but can't be used during battle), this would not be an issue.
