Why did you change HQ drops from +3 to +1?

There's no delivery system.

Inventory management is tedious at best, and that's with two characters over two accounts and over 1000 inventory slots.

Now, instead of consolidating HQ tiers into one tier, say "HQ item X", we see the reintroduction of an item tier that most of us phased out when HQ farmed and dropped items changed to exclusively +3.

Why? Why'd you do this to us?

When are you collapsing all these various names into one universal HQ item? Was this some sick way to force us to pay more with the upcoming reintroduction of billing?

Please.... give us another retainer until you run an oh-so-difficult DB update and convert all HQs into just one tier all named the same thing, not just with the same stats.

I was under the impression that it was a similar situation to already crafted versions of dyed items with different stats, where the existing ones would stay for now, but no *new* ones can be created. So when you're mining or whatever, any newly generated HQ materials will be the new +1 version and once you use up the old stuff its gone for good. Not the most efficient way of doing it, but i'm fairly certain thats how it works now, correct me if i'm wrong.

I think they should have been made +3 instead of +1. There isn't any difference between the old +3's and the new +1's besides that they dont stack... will only be an issue until you use up all your +3 mats, but wouldnt have become an issue with mats if they had all just been +3.

Or, just rename everything Item Name HQ or HQ Item Name.

+3 was changed to +1 because +3 doesn't make any sense if +2 and +1 don't exist anymore. There have already been a few people posting confused posts as to why they're getting +3 items and what that's supposed to mean.

The real question you should be asking is why didn't they just run through their database converting peoples' +3 and +2 items into +1s. "Server limitations" would be the answer, I'm sure.

Item HQ / HQ Item would work too, as mentioned above.

If that was the case, they could have just set up a few npcs where we could talk to and would automatically trade all +3's into +1's. Instead they seem to be turning into the SE that ran XI for so many years and feel that F***ing with the player time and time again is fun.

I'm not sure I understand the problem with +3's still existing in the game. Since nothing drops them anymore, they'll all disappear when people use them all up. I doubt they'll remain in the game for all that long.

I think what the OP is saying is that those who were storing +3 materials and NQ materials of multiple crafts will also get +1 materials of each of those multi-crafts, increasing the amount of storage required to maintain this lifestyle.

Instead of a consolidation where all +1, +2, and +3s would be renamed HQ. Which I think someone earlier in the thread also mentioned, is possibly beyond server capabilities. Even if this meant we would have to manually sort these out ourselves.

i.e. a stack of +1 becomes HQ.
A stack of +2 becomes HQ.
A stack of +3 becomes HQ.
Three separate stacks, that we have to swap back and forth with our retainer or bazaar to consolidate these.

Is it really that hard to change a + into an H and a 1 into a Q? They renamed a few crafted items already. Woolen Artisans Hat became Woolen Deerstalker or something, and some others. I don't think they would have problems changing 2 characters.

I'm glad they didn't change the few +3's that I still have lingering in my inventory. I want to use them in some crafts and get a larger start on quality than the +1's and a better chance for a HQ.

+2's and +3's aren't an issue. They are a non-replenishing resource that will get used up by crafters or NPC'ed by players to clear up inventory space. If you have them in your inventory, count yourself lucky! You now possess a limited resource that could be particularly lucrative and/or useful in crafting.

If you're still not convinced, let me know when you're able to give them to me and I'll gladly take those pesky +2's and +3's for your hands.

The current +1s all work like what +3s used to when used as a mat in a synthesis, give as much bonus as a +2 did as weapons/gear, and as much bonus as a +1 did for tools.

So there's no difference in the quality gain between an old +3 mat and a new +1 mat.

As has been mentioned, the root of the issue here is for those of us who are holding on to 'old' HQ items (+3) to use when crafting with exclusively HQ items has a guarantee (or very high probability) of a HQ result, a feature apparently 'coming soon'. Likewise, most crafters with any semblance of sense are holding on to their ALC and CUL ingredients indefinitely until those recipes and results are revamped.

Also, the point made that if item names were all changed from +1, +2, +3 to just HQ you'd have 3 different stacks of ingredients to transfer back and forth to your retainer is a bit silly. You'd be hard pressed to find someone so lazy that they wouldn't spend 5-10 minutes moving items to free up 1/3 of their inventory spots.

They were made +1 cuz +1 vendors for less then +3 so more gil wont pour into the economy doing that

yes its not a major ammount but it is still more

that and Why would +3 exist with no +1 or 2? that also wouldnt make sense, so +1 is where they went

Wouldn't this be an item database problem? If this game is like any other game, then every single item would be assigned a number in the database. So say for example Leather will be assigned 10000, then its derivatives will be Leather+1 being assigned 10001, Leather+2 being 10002 etc, and Leather (colored) 10005 etc etc...

So simply changing the name of the items won't work because now u'll simply have Leather HQ (no. 10002) and Leather HQ (no. 10001) and they still won't stack... In this case, we'll have to use the method mentioned earlier: have a program (maybe an NPC in game) that will "convert" the item into something that's the same but of a different id. Can work... but with the number of items in the game already, I'm not sure how lengthy the QA test for this procedure will become. Are we willing to wait another few days/weeks for the patch?
