VerFlare tool tip is misleading

Says can only be cast after landing enchanted redoublement.
But it actually can only be cast after the chain.

Seriously this sword chain should just be like one button.
You literally only use it together anyway.

Free the sword! Free the redmage!

If you using a non-enchanted redoublement, you are doing it wrong. You want a 3 button combo to be one button? Really? While we are at it why don't we reduce every job that has a 3 button combo to just 1 button because apparently hitting 3 buttons is too hard for some people. I sincerely hope this is a troll post.

actually if you use a enchanted redoublement..without the chain it does not activate verflare/verholy. you have to do the whole thing. it does not say that in the tool tip. boop

They are all set up like that in pvp now. Yoshida said he would consider it for pve based on feedback, but some jobs are better without it, and apparently it's extra work for the server to have it changing your button that way. But yeah, rdm melee combo isn't interesting, they could totally compact that 1-2-3 into 1-1-1 for convenience since you don't have any other combo branches to consider, it's always that same sequence.

If you actually read tooltips you would know that you can't use enchanted redoublement unless you do the chain, which obviously means if you try using redoublement by itself obviously it won't proc verflare/holy. I'm pretty sure this is a troll post at this point, no idea why I'm responding seriously.

Oh no, how dare SE not write "after using melee combo" for people to realize that a non-combo weaponskill should not be used?
100 potency vs 470, even Enchanted Riposte is 210 potency so WHY would you even use Enchanted Redoublement without comboing it?
And yes, god forbid you're punished for bad play!

The tool tip is the least of your worries, mate.
Just place the buttons next to each other and build some muscle memory so you don't mess up the oh so confusing 1-2-3 rotation that is RDM melee.

yes, actually, you can. as far as I can tell. pretty sure i've accidentally done it at least once.

nowhere there does it say that the combo is REQUIRED to use the skill. you just don't get the potency increase from the combo. but you CAN spam ER as much as you want without the combo, for 100 potency. the only thing it requires is Black/White Mana.

Redoublement does not become Enchanted by doing the combo. It becomes Enchanted by having more than 30 Black/White Mana.

don't get me wrong, you would realistically NEVER use this skill uncombo'd. But it is still possible to do so.

the tooltip for Veflare says "AFTER LANDING ENCHANTED REDOUBLEMENT." You can "land Enchanted Redoublement" by itself without using the combo, for 100 potency. but Verflare won't activate.

It only activates after you do the full combo. and the tooltip should reflect that.

it's not a matter of "being bad." it is a matter of having accurate tooltips.

no, this does not mean you SHOULD use it without the combo. but you CAN. and for this reason, the tooltip is not accurate.

I stand corrected. You can indeed use the enchanted versions as long as you have the mana. My mistake.

Actually, for me, the tooltip under Actions & traits says nothing about what activates it. I had to find out how from an old Reddit post.

Did you guys seriously necro a thread from 6 years ago, made at the beginning of Stormblood?!

The way a skill worked back then may not be how it works now, so whatever issue this thread was addressing was probably either solved or made redundant.

This thread is indeed moot. The current workings of Verflare and Verholy are laid out in the Mana Stack trait and also in the Job Gauge Details, and the way things currently work is more forgiving than the way they worked when this thread was started six years ago.
