Constant and repetitive error 90002 disconnect

Happy 4th of July my NA people. I have been disconnected over 10 times in the last 25 minutes and the server just doesn't give me error 90002, it waits a very, very long time before it finally kicks me out. Is something going on?

It has gotten so bad that it now disconnects me mere seconds after logging back in. I cannot reset my PS4 because that would risk me getting the 22.7gig download that SE and Sony are forestalling in fixing.

Please tell me its not me. Please?

Important edit: Disconnects all happened in a dungeon and once I got out, no more disconnects. Instance servers acting up again or are they under attack again?

It's not only you, I get disconnected after a minute each time I log in. And it seems it concerns a lot of people. Maybe the DDoS attacks?

I get 90002 all the time as well on PC.
Funny thing is that my PS4 runs no problem.

Small update. I logged out and did some stuff for a few hours and came back. I tried doing trial roulette and still I get errors. Every single piece of content that is not an instance is fine, duty finder is unplayable to me. What on earth did you guys do in patch 4.01, its even less playable!

I highly, HIGHLY urge the FF XIV dev. team to bother, pester and otherwise convince Square Enix upper management to give us better/more/upgrade the instance servers because it has been failure after failure with it this expansion.

It's EU players specifically that seem to be affected by this, so must be something they did that managed to bork it for specifically out side

People are saying it started after a big DDoS attack overnight/early morning and Square rushed out anti-DDoS countermeasures.

My bet is that they implemented overzealous countermeasures which is treating incoming connections from the EU players as potential attackers. If that is true, and they still haven't resolved it despite so many reports then it's a pretty poor display of network administration.

That's my concern as well and if so it would be quite stupid

This is happening to a lot of people, something to note though...
First off I live and play from England (PS4) and reside in Aether - Siren server. After the patch I was fine for about an hour until I started the Omega questline, after starting it I started having this issue. Now, playing on an alt or making a new char on any NA server was fine, not a single issue and playing as normal. So I asked a friend (residing in Australia) who was playing on their alt to go on their main and start the Omega questline, soon after starting it she also starting getting loss of actions and being disconnected.
Can't say what this issue is, but there's something here for sure.

Do you reside in NA or Canada though? As it seems to be people on NA servers who do not reside in those regions.

I login to exodus and i can only move around, cant activate or attack anything, theres also nothing on ghe chatbox and the game gives me the 90002 error after a couple of minutes. Its happening since yesterday at night

Yes, myself and a few other players has this issue yesterday and some today. Many of us are even from different regions across NA, EU and AU but still having issues where we lag for some seconds then boom, you get kicked out.

NA. While I probably don't have it quite as bad as an EU player, it's bad enough that the game is effectively unplayable.

try running tracerts to the server (ip is 204.2.229.99)

There should be a certain IP in the very subnet that is causing the issues, wonder if you all get the same.

It keeps happening and now its happening in the overworld. Error 90006.

As per my location, I am in an NA server but I am in one of the major Antilles to the southeast of Florida and our internet is connected to the NA side. However, my connection is just terrible. It got bad when they up and moved the servers but now, now its insulting. Heh, and the character information before login has the audacity to tell me it has an "excellent" connection.

Just what is going on?

I'm on exodus and live in the UK and play on ps4. Tried omega first thing after the patch and couldn't get past the instance due to dc's.

Was fine the rest of the day crafting until 7pm when it hung for about 5 minutes and wouldn't let me out of my house before dc'ing. I now still can't do omega and got dc'd bout 5 times from one run in copperbell mines.

Weirdly, my wife plays on pc and has had no problems, except for once when most of the server seemed to get kicked.

Since getting the omega quest when the servers came online, ive just being getting 90k'ed whenever i do anything, getting on my mount, teleporting, pretty much anything will trigger 90k, been unplayable all day... :(

Same here..
As soon as I try to use skills, mount, teleport and so on I get hit by a 90002 shortly after.

I live in Sweden and play on Excalibur.

This is really getting frustrating, especially since Omega just became available and me and some friends would like to run it, but I can't right now due to these disconnects.

Edit: For the record, these disconnects started to happen to me like 2 hours before the servers went down for maintenance.

And here we are over 12 hours later and only getting worse.. What do SE have to say about it you say? Nothing, just the same damn message "Recovery" During the time below, we experienced network technical difficulties on the North American data centres.

I get 90002'd a lot, some days are worse than others, I play on PC and my boyfriend plays on PS4 sharing the same internet connection and he has very rarely experienced the 90002 error, drives me crazy - we can be in the same instance/dungeon/PotD and I get the error and he doesn't.

My husband and I are in SA but play on the NA server (Lamia, Primal data center.) I kept getting kicked over and over last night before the maintenance but today everything was stable and fine. Except now my husband is having the exact same issue and hasn't been able to stay online for a full minute before getting 90K'ed. Our desks are literally five feet from each other but my connection is rock solid while his has gone to hell. Has SE said anything about what the heck is going on?

Disconnect only in Behemoth. In others i can play fine ....

I'm trapped in Quarrymill,I can't dismount my chocobo nor can I interact with anything!After 5 minutes I get the 90002 error.This issue isn't exclusively for EU players on NA data centers,I'm from Puerto Rico (Caribbean) and I'm having the same issue.

I've submitted a ticket this morning and still didn't get even an automatically response. I'm tired of repeting my issue but there it goes:

Brazil palyer here. Everytime I log in and passes the loading screen I simply cannot do anything, any interaction, action, teleport, etc. I'm stucked in Quarrymill. After 2-3 minutes I get DC'ed. And it has been like that since after maintenance.

Square posted that they fixed it, but as they can see (and I hope they are seeing the Forum), it isn't!

When will they really do something?

Hey i am from pr too and i having the exact problem but in costa del sol

Guys the only solution I'm seeing for SE to notice us players who can't get this fixed is each of us make a thread at technical support saying ourissue. Maybe if we fill forum with lots of threadsavout it, they may do something.

I'm really disappointed and upset with SE. This never happaned in ARR.

Happens to me too. I can pretty much stay around the current map im in, but as soon as i port to another map o enters a duty , i get the 90002 error, games pretty much unplayable right now.

This is happening to my OH, we're both UK and she plays on PS4, I play on PC.
This started at around 3am BST 4/7/17 for her, she can log in but get the disconnect symbol straight away and after about 5mins she's booted with the 90002 error.
She hasn't gotten that far in SB story so it can't be just because of the Omega questline, she hadn't done anything specific prior to just logging into Quarrymill as she had just lvl'd her RDM to 60.
I'm PC and yet to get this issue, because of this we originally thought it may of been PSN however according SE this morning that has been resolved.
Most of what I've read the majority of those who aren't in the US are able to move and interact but the moment they do they get the boot, where as others are just unable to do anything. As for this happening to US players and many other across the world it can't JUST be a EU issue, whatever this is I hope SE are trying to figure it out because it is making the game flat out unplayable for a lot of people, now I know it seems that being a subscriber may not count for much these days, it sucks paying for a game you can't play.

I am living in Sweden and playing on the Aether Data Center and get dc'd every 5 minutes or so. Just making the game unplayable

"nice" to see other ppl have this problem too maybe since they will see more than 1 topic now they will do something about

Another day,still can't access omega, and now I'm stuck in East shroud. Every time I log on, I try to teleport, nothing happens and a minute later I get kicked. This is getting ridiculous. My wife is next to me on her PC having no problems at all.

I'm also been plagued with this Error 90002 constant disconnect since yesterday. Can't play any duty without being disconnect 30 seconds after coming back. And how am I suppose to advance in a game that won't let me play it's content?

But what annoys me the most, is the silence... it seems to be more than 1 threat about the subject, some in "reviewing" but so far, no word about it!

I get DC after a few seconds after i log in, does not matter where i am.
I guess they are blocking connection that comes from outside of US due to the DDOS attacks.

It is now the 5th of July and the problems persist. Just when you think the connection is good, you start a disconnection session of over 20 minutes of going in and out.

Location this happened: Temple of the Fist
Time: 5th of July, around 7:45AM EST
Platform: PS4
What happened: Near the end of the dungeon, past second boss. Disconnections started to happen, errors 90002. Before the dungeon was finished (yes, we were able to finish it) I disconnected over 11 times. Sometimes I had to just plain turn off the FFXIV application because it was being stupid and not recognizing that connection has failed.

And shortly after I get out and make a tomestone purchase, I disconnect with error 90006 from Rhalgar's Reach.

Stormblood is the best expansion by far but its servers and connection errors make it the worst gaming experience I have ever had to go through. May SE get hit real hard by this so they up the ante on the servers and their connection infrastructure.

Listen to these posts SE, we have a problem! Game is mostly unplayable! We are paying for a service and we aren't getting it because it drops every few minutes!

Yep same issues yet again today. Probably wouldn't mind so much if I was DPS, but lately I've been healing a lot so it's an absolute pain when your tank has a pull going in the dungeon and then bam, you're dc'd and have to hope everyone survived till you logged back in.
