It does depend on your preferences.
With really good melds, the main hand will be a very small upgrade but with a loss of 5 CP.
So if your tools are penta melded, I wouldn't use the yellow scrip tools, since 5 CP is worth having compared to a small bonus to craftsmanship / control.
And a well penta melded chest will exceed the yellow scrip version, so once again it depends on how far you want to take the melding.
If you want to achieve higher stats, I believe it would be worthwhile to meld everything (You don't have to go crazy and pentameld, stick to Grade IVs mostly).
If you want all 8 crafter sets, you're looking at crafting 500 or so collectables. Now 500 of those isn't going to be too cheap, so at that point, I would just meld instead. You can just leave the tools alone except for a 5 cp meld.
I wouldn't expect the 2 star requirements to be any more than 1250 craftsmanship and 1200 control. You can also use food if needed.
MH tools only...unless you are made of Armory space and/or just craft to look cool and don't care about stats (or are cheap/lazy and refuse to meld.) And if you are going for max CP, skip the MH tools too.
Everything is useless apart from MH. I guess this is for people with no money to pentameld materia.
But I think the amount of yellow scrips required is a bit too much.
That's the cost of removing a weekly cap, it's a give and take. Cost more, but you aren't limited to a weekly limit, so you can either get it all done in a week, or take your time over the next few months. If SE is playing off the idea of how it was in 3.0, odds are they want it to take at least a month or two to fully gear up.
The scrip gear isn't worth it. Each piece requires quite a number of turn ins and strangely enough, you'd likely be turning in pieces from the i290 set over and over or battle gear of equivalent difficulty.
It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense as you'd already have the ability to make the crafted set anyways and the cost of materials for the turn ins will likely far exceed the minimal materia melds required to at least match the scrip set.
When I saw the amount of yellow scrips you need for MH I died and came back and died and comeback again to post this lol
Does Yellow beat current i290 gear? I melded CP across the set atm
All the HQ white set needs to be better than the entire Scrip set is CP melds, not really any overmelding needed.
But... that's I good thing, right? I mean, if the yellow gear is the best that will kill the market for certain DoL and devalue materia.
Let's not forget that the "true" AF gear from heavensward came with the Gordias Savage patch. In two weeks time, the crafted AF gear will probably show up, within the books.
I'm personally grabbing the MH and overmelding my lvl70 HQ set so I can at least be ready to craft my own AF set when they come out.
Chromite Ore, Palladium Ore, Rhea, Torreya Log, True Griffin Hide. This stuff will be used to make crafted version of the yellow scrip gear. I'm sure. Also probably i320 battle gear which probably have better stats than Omega normal when HQ and melded.
Don't waste your time with this yellow scrip gear. Spend your time hitting legendary node and sending your retainer instead.
After looking at the costs of these items it's a hard pass. You would probably spend half in cost pentamelding the basic stuff that making all those collectables.. I'm getting MH and that's it.
Right now I am just stockpiling materials so when the time comes I can easily make whatever I need to get the scrips to buy masterbook. :) Yeah I will probably go ahead and cap 2000 before the patch 4.05 though. Will make whatever is on the bonus that I can make cheap in the next two weeks.
Also buying stuff like mastercraft demimateria, fieldcraft demimateria III, and dawnlight aethersands before the price go through the roof after the patch. :P
Prices for all those aethersands (minus Dusklight) will skyrocket once the patch drops.
Agreed, those did come out with 3.05; however, this time around there doesn't appear to be any place for the "true" AF to fit in. In Heavensward the white gear was ilvl 150, the "true" AF was 170, and the Scrip gear was 180. The "true" AF had lower stats than the Scrip Gear but could be melded to exceed it. White Gear with max melds couldn't exceed the Scrip Gear.
This time around, there's only a 10 ilvl gap between white gear and scrip gear and white gear can easily be melded to exceed the scrip gear. As such, I honestly don't think "true" AF is going to exist this time around as I have no idea where it would fit into the equation.
Maybe ilvl 295 with slightly higher stats than the white gear but then the question remains of is it worth it to make 8 different sets for the boost provided by only 5 ilvls?
I will only ever use omnicraft gear (no way I'm making 8 sets let alone melding/storing them) - idk why they even bother with the individual sets beyond Glamour. I hope they only introduce omni gear when it comes to crafted stuff...otherwise I will just ignore it like in HW.
I expect a mix of omnicraft gear and class-specific gear. I just wish that I could Glamour omnicrafter gear one way while a GSM, and another way while a LTW, and yet another way while a BSM, and so on.
Mainly, that's because I loathe the idea of melding 8 different sets of relatively temporary gear. I did NOT like melding the i170 Favor gear, for example.
I understand the logic in the 290 gear but i have 3 sets of yellow script (just my specs) and i feel its gona do just fine amd i mean shit it was practically free lol. Ill prob do like another person in this thread get a piece or two of the crafted gear and meld it if i have to. But with full YS and food i think its highly unlikely that ill have to.
It feels like the Yellow scrip gear was really not meant for omnicrafters who would meld to maximize it for all their classes. This was really something for people who just care about their few crafters. Seems fine with me to be honest. It's fine for those people or people who want glam since there isn't much in terms of end game crafting at the moment. That will likely change in 4.1 since we haven't been able to craft Rowena's current outfit, and you know she's the ultimate Glamho (the rest of us follow her lead lol).
What exactly did you make that made yellow scrip crafter gear "practically free"??? Gatherer scrips are just time so that I will agree is "free" beyond your play time...but making stuff to turn in for yellow crafter scrips has significant opportunity costs...I just capped mine to 2k and am waiting for the grade VI materia and scrip mats for the * recipes to arrive.
I've got until tues to cap my scripts (been gearing my fsh thru scripts), which with crafting scripts can be done in one 2-3hr sitting sooooo idk what ur getting at :/ and by practicly free i mean ive spent less than 1m to get all 3 sets. So not entirely free but beats the hell outa pentamelds.
There won't be a capped scrip. We'll have red and yellow for the foreseeable future.
You could probably buy the mats for the crafted set for less than 1 mil as well. Meld a craft V/control V onto each left side piece, and a control V on the MH tool, that'll put you at 2 craftsmanship above the full scrip set, and 8 control below it. No pentamelding needed, and it's a set for all DoH classes.
You could even switch out the crafted MH tool for the yellow scrip one, and that'll put you at +30 craftsmanship/+7 control over the full yellow scrip set.
