What are your thoughts on the (lack of)dps class changes.
I think the skill balance was best in 6.0
You meant 4.0.1
I think they will get there.
First thing is the most important problems and new content.
Brd gets a buff before Mch gets anything ITS 3.0 ALL OVER again Glad i saw this coming and leveled sam which they said Ya this is dps class stop bitching its not gonna get nerf.
I dunno man... Ninja just got a potency increase on Bhavacakra. I'm not sure if that was entirely warranted. It's cool though, don't get me wrong. I play ninja, but it is still a potency increase. The fact MCH got nothing in this patch despite how desperately they needed it is kinda disheartening
Still, nothing for Mch, Drg, Smn/Sch?
They really needed some attention.

Just in case you were curious. Seems like they're going to do some big balance changes when they release Savage. I feel, sans NINJA, they just fixed some of the core issues and easy fixes for some technical problems such as aggro midigation or bards.... bug?
I thought dripping blades affected all damage now? Or is it still only physical?
They fixed Battle Voice and Troubadour. Happy day, woo.
I'll necro this when 7.0.1 will come out
6.5 addressed a lot with the pink tutu wearing white mage
did you actually read the patch notes? it didn't say anything about a song needing to be played.....it said that party members dont need to be under the effect of a song. All that means is that if you are out of range of the bard's song, you will still get the buff for battle voice. I do find it funny that no one mentioned the huge fix for machinists.
7.0.1???
Gosh are we in 2024??? LMAO
In a serious note hope they bring back sustain and miasma 2 for SMN
We're on 7.3 n-
Oh, wrong game.
the more important thing that was left out was that housing isn't being released until 4.1 /sadface.
It blows my mind that they find buffing a NIN potency (a class thats fine to begin with) more important than fixing other classes that have more important issues like MCH & DRG.
Bhavacakra used to mistakenly classified as physical damage instead of magic damage. This meant that Bhava was amplified by Dripping Blades, which only affects physical damage, and Slashing debuff. This gave Bhava a total potency of 726 before counting buffs like embolden and brotherhood.
Now that it's magic, it is no longer affected by the aforementioned traits and abilities above. Effectively, the base of Bhava went from 726 potency based off the ninjas kit to 600. So this is a nerf in the form of a bug fix.
So they nerfed a class that was fine to begin with. Doesnt make it sound much better tbh.
I still feel like there were much more important things that needed to be fixed.
at least enmity is fixed - hopefully tanks can hold burst aoe a bit better now... : o
I'm still finding the lack of updates to Dragoon off-putting. Yoshida mentioned them specifically in comparing them to Samurai, as far as solo DPS versus party utility. But, currently, NIN has more utility than DRG and currently does 400 DPS more than DRG.
Even worse that he mentioned how the classes most punished by mechanics have the highest damage, when in reality two of the weakest dps right now are the ones most punished by mechanics. At least he stated that they may have gotten things wrong. I'm cautiously optimistic for 4.05.
Fix for machinists :
"An issue when using the machinist action Flamethrower wherein its effect ended when a target within range would move." (yay \o/ )
"An issue wherein the description of the status inflicted by the machinist action Dismantle was incorrect." (I'm wondering what is actually is)
"An issue wherein damage dealt when using the machinist action Rook Overdrive did not appear in the battle log."
Been saying the exact same thing. NIN may be limited, DPS wise, to just Trick Attack utility but it is FAR better than anything DRG currently brings. Can be used more often, isn't as clunky and buffs EVERYONE by 10% for the same amount of time as Dragon Sight? Crits are nice but a reliable buff is far more valuable.
DRG, arguably, is punished period (can't comment on MCH, I know little about it). While LoTD is serviceable, it is incredibly unwieldy sometimes, even against a dummy.
RLMFAO they kinda buffed BRD and FORGOT ABOUT MCH! LOL! HOW RICH.
OH MY F****** GOD I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! THEY BUFFED BRD AGAIN LOL.
RIP MCH EVEN MORE.
Define "Huge" ?
And if you think that this flamethrower fix is any good, then you're playing MCH wrong (which apparently you don't even play it) if you're using flamethrower for whatever reason its because you've screwed up your rotation and I'd rather do 5x hotshots anyway for single target.
Nope.
Activating Battle Voice requires that the Bard be playing a song, that has not changed. The range of BV also has not changed and is still set at 20 yards. Songs are 25 yards. Ideally anyone receiving Battle Voice will always be under the effect of one of the Bard songs.
What this change does is make sure that BV still lands in specific cases where, for whatever reason (like if you press one and then the other really quickly), the other players in the group do not have the effect of your song on them. If it's a buff, it's an exceptionally minor one.
The Troubadour change is indeed a buff, but one by way of fixing a design flaw with the skill itself - that it didn't affect the Bard as well was simply a flaw in how it was designed.
