Have been able to narrow it down to being an issue with the datacenter's physical area, or the servers themselves. Connectivity issues are happening for players all across the US and beyond.

Yup. Gilgamesh has been exploding.
Fine, hosed, fine, hosed, super hosed 90k, fine hosed.
Dungeons have been awful with it. Feed your hamsters already!
Wouldn't be surprised if it was another DDOS, feels like it.
Lodestone says it was a DDoS attack.
It is not just Aether. Primal is also having a lot of issues tonight :(. Lag / disconnects both in dungeons and in the world.
"DDoS" isn't a DDoS when it's your own customers all trying to login at the same time.
They say it's a "DDoS Attack" but it's not, it may actually be a DDoS but no one is attacking them, they're just using that for a BS excuse for their poor infrastructure and lack of planning for the amount of players accessing the servers.
DDoS = Dynamic/Distrubuted Denial of Service.
Too bad people have been logging in all day long with no problems at all other than the small queues. Nothing like this, almost like it is an actual DDOS attack.
Our FC was discussing that awhile back, during the fiasco that was early access. DDoS, maybe, but what if it's not malicious, and it's just the players trying to login en masse? It's just wild paranoia and speculation, probably, but we've seen the servers can't handle floodgates.
Eh, I'll get the tinfoil hats out.
Distributed Denial of Service*
It wouldn't match up with what I've seen previously. We've had queues before with no connectivity issues. If that was the reason I'd expect it would always be a problem during queues, not just sometimes.
It doesn't have to be a malicious attack though. Just the pure numbers of people like additional adults being off for the Holiday could pad the issue some. But who knows. It's all speculation anyways. The last time they announced a maintenance, roughly around the same time frame they "experienced" a "DDoS Attack". I just think it's the amount of people honestly.
The zombies are coming. This proves it. :0
Probably true. Likely true. Hopefully true.

I've been playing on and off all day, logging in and out each time, and usually I just have queues of two to six people. (Yay for NOT playing on Balmung!)
Now I can't even get to my character screen... repeated lobby server errors.
Sure feels like a DDoS attack. The servers can handle normal player loads -- even normal "heavy" player loads -- just fine. (Except for Balmung.)
Server troubles?
Blame DDoS!
Despite what SE claims there is currently not a DDOS attack going on. I am staring at a realtime DDOS attack map and there is currently NO suspicious network activity coming from or leading to the physical location of the servers. They are using the DDOS attack as an excuse for their poor server infrastructure, either that or they have no clue what a DDOS attack is.
There is now occasional activity heading to california but nothing on the scale of a DDOS attack. Here is the map: http://map.norsecorp.com/#/
At least the issue will be somewhat resolved by the servers being taken down for maintenance, a few hours of cooldown always does some good.
