Questions for SCH who have multiple clears of Susano EX:

What are your strategies for each phase?

Does SCH have to do anything special to avoid Churning? (ie turn off pet)?

Disclaimer: I know nothing about the Job. Asking for a friend.

I haven't done the fight either, but I find it highly unlikely that SMN or SCH would be punished for the actions of their pet during Churning.

Your pet can do whatever it wants during Churning without damaging you.

The fight is fairly easy. I don't have a detailed strat handy to give you, but it's pretty intuitive. Shield/heal through tank busters and Ukehi, place fairy so that she can easily reach both sides of the split with Whispering Dawn, and keep up DoTs and Broil as filler while handling mechanics.

This is also an easier fight to use Aetherpact in since the tanks don't move often or very far.

Churning is exactly the same mechanic as the dice during Ozma. Just cancel active casting, stand still, and don't do anything until it pops. You only need to sheathe your weapon if you've turned on auto-attack and are in melee range. Churning cannot target the pet and the pet's actions will not effect your churning.

The fairy is immune to almost everything in this fight, so I like to set it off to the side over the black sinking zone effect, since it doesn't bother her (she flies). This is a good range for Whipsering Dawn, and the only time anyone will be out of range is when they're baiting cloud or the tank is eating orbs. Obviously if you're using Selene then she's lazy-mode-fire-and-forget, but you can trigger Eos's moves as needed.

Try to use Lucid Dreaming around when you hit 50% MP. It restores a lot.

During the "sword phase", stagger your cooldowns to help heal. You have Whispering Dawn if Eos is out, as well as Emergency Tactics and Indomitability to aid in AoE healing. You can usually get by with one cooldown heal every other damage pulse as long as your co-healer isn't flat-out terrible, sometimes even less, but especially when you're learning don't worry too much about overhealing in AoE phases. Also watch the orb-eating tanks and lustrate them if they need it (this can vary). You can try to deploy an adlo before the big sword hit but there really isn't a lot of time and often only half the shields will even register before the hit due to server lag, and you're better off making sure everyone is topped and shielded. For fun, you can fey illuminate (or largesse if you have it) near the end and hit everyone with a stronger Succor shield, and then Sacred Soil if you have the stack for it.

During the lightning mark phases no one other than the targets and tank should actually be taking damage, so if you Whispering Dawn during this phase the regens should mostly take care of the lightning targets and you can actually go ham on DPS if no one is derping. If someone does strike the raid with the lightning, then indom and recover heal as needed. Also be prepared for an Unkehi immediately after lightning dance, so make sure everyone is topped off, especially the tank and last lightning target. You can Fey Covenant this to mitigate as well. As with the rest of the fight the amount of healing required is dependent on your healing partner, so be prepared to heal more if required.

Once you learn the timing of Stormsplitter you can excogitation the tank but it's not really needed (and kind of a stack-waste) since the other tank will be immediately provoking the boss's attention, so excog is less useful than it is in, say, Lakshimi where tank busters always happen during lotus run-aways. You can also shield for Stormsplitter with Adlo once you learn when it comes out, but honestly even a poorly geared tank should be fine without it.
You can use Fey Union on the tank anytime you want to dump charges, and if you position it well over the black area you can even trigger it during lightning phase so both healers can ignore the tank during the hopscotch, but don't rely on it. Fey Union is a gimmick you have to make a window for in this particular fight rather than something responsive. Honestly while I'll use excog in Lakshimi and Union in dungeons, I don't really find either skill all that useful in Susano.

Other than that it's the same mechanics as everyone else.

I've found Fey Union to be quite useful for keeping the first sword tank healed up, as well as for the stun-Levinbolts.

You case safely Place the fairy over the split; it won't sink and die.

I actually take Rescue with me on this fight to help during the Dice/Cloud/Stack AoE part of the fight. sometimes, the cloud will decide to line up in a way that prevents people from doing it safely, and instant killing them because they can't move with dice. just yank them on up to you. during the sword phase, I use Succor when the sword phase begins then Indom after the second aoe and 1 more succor for the swap while focusing the tank that's running for balls. at this point you may as well be using Lucid Dreaming if you're having mana problems, it will bring you from 0-60% full in the duration even if you're using spells. before the second sword phase is almost done, I use Fey Covenant(it has a big wind up) then Largess/Adlo/Deploy to soak the aoe the sword unleashes when going into the next phase. you could also get away with using Succor instead of Adlo for that part, saves a Deploy for later on for one of the Uheki (although Succor is more than enough). the first Uheki is always 2 attacks while the later ones are 3. Excog can also come in handy in this fight. with all the movement that happens after sword phase, it's not uncommon to forget all about the tank. All of this is just what I do. others may have different ways of going about it, try what feels right. Heck, I could be wasting a lot of time doing what I do... but it keeps people alive and the clear happens. also, remember to keep Chain Stratagem up as often as you can.... it really is a dps boost (even though they got rid of all your dps).

Honestly most of your kit will get you through this fight with minimal issues. Rouse + Whispering Dawn is extremely useful in mitigating Uheki, and keeping Galvanize constantly on the party will help give some margin for error if someone makes a mistake. Likewise, many of Eos' abilities are useful in this fight and I never found a reason to use Aetherpact and likely will never use it here unless paired with a second SCH.
Honestly your biggest enemy in this fight is overhealing, particularly during the Sword Phase. If you're with a WHM or an AST I highly recommend you leave the majority of healing to them after popping a Rouse + Whispering Dawn and Succor combo - and instead focus solely on keeping the tank who is getting the orbs up instead. During the transition of this phase another Succor and Fey Illumination will help your co-healer deal with the party while you focus on keeping that one tank alive. Once the phase is over a quick pop Indomitability will heal the party. Mind that's just my and my WHM cohealer's preference.

pretty much everything Enla said, this fight is actually really sch friendly in that if the party is aware of mechanics the sch mwont have much healing to do aside from the occasional tank busters and ukehi (probably butchered that name lol) AOE's. but this is where I find most use of a few of our skills.

Adlo - as always use it to shield the tank from incoming busters, you really shouldn't be required to do any other healing on the tank tbh depending on your group and co healer.

succor- pop one before the multiple AOE's start and everyone should be fine (do not spam this move, you WILL burn mana)

Indom- useful during sword phase after the second break, pop it to help bring the party back to full health before the incoming big damage. also use as an emergency heal if to much damage is being taken during ukehi or if partner healer is dead.

sacred soil - not required but more mitigation during uheki is never a bad thing and its very easy to have soil up as you will get a rhythm for when uheki is coming again.

Fairy- whispering dawn is helpful and when combined with succor at the beginning of sword phase can ease a bit of the strain during sword phase on your partner healer while you focus the OT.

Fey union - sadly useless ignore your fairy gauge in this fight

physick- your go to band aid heal as always spam on the OT during sword, if he dips to low and is in danger of being killed by the next orb throw a lustrate at him but honestly physick should be enough.

these are pretty much the only healing skills I HAVE to use during this fight, I opt out of some depending on the situation and my party, co healer, and tanks. So you may wonder what do sch do in the time we are not healing (which is 80% of the time) the answer is DPS!

that's it if your group is handling mechanics and your main healer is healing you should be spending most of your time doing as much dps as you can.

If your friend can, have them talk to the second healer and discuss Rescue usage. You should both have it slotted, it's a God send in this fight.

Especially considering how bad it can get in the final parts of the fight. It's possible for him to target somebody so they have the stack AND the cloud on them, and have Churn on them. You need rescue for moments like this, because they will not make it back to the party unless they have a gap closer, and if it's a healer that gets it, you either Rescue them or they die instantly.
