Simple thoughts, which one do you prefer?
While I enjoy some parts of Rhalgr's reach, I enjoy Kugane quite a bit more. I enjoy the music in Kugane and its colorful world more than the slate grays of Rhalgr's reach.
Kugane all the way! The place is beautiful day and night :)
I prefer Rhalgr's Reach. I think the area looks great, while Kugane just seems kind of bland to me.
Kugane all day. It feels like a real bustling city. There is so much going on and at night it looks so pretty. I love walking down the market district, seeing players run around, crafters crafting up a storm, and seeing others doing silly ERP things. I love that atmosphere over rhalgr's reach
Kugane. I'm still salty about Ala Mhigo being closed off. We were promised the city, and it's just useless. It spoiled the Lochs for me. Not that Kugane also doesn't have its problems. It doesn't feel relevant to the main story. The cutscenes in the trailer weren't even in the game, except for the covert battle with Garlemald. Where was Yugiri and Gosetsu looking out from the top of the building? Why is Bukyo locked out? It feels more like it's setting up an expansion for later, when it should of been a focal point of the expansion. I feel teased.
Gotta go with neither, I still find myself going back to Limsa whenever I need the market board or retainer.
We have yet to see how Rhalgr's Reach will end up looking like since it will be that place to receive the renovation treatment like Mor Dhona and Idyllshire. For now, both are equally nice to me.
I find myself more often in Rhalgr's because it's convenient the only thing that missing market board
Also it's more quiet there less brightness more relaxing
Kugane wins, people are usually there and it fells like a main capital for a region. Rhalgr's Reach is a rebel camp, no reason to make it the end game zone since it's function is more or less complete when you finish the MSQ. It seems more like a hub whilst questing, not the new Idylshire/Mhor Dona.
Rhalgr's Reach, prefer the music and aesthetics of the region there over Kugane's. Both places are filled with attention seekers either way, but I just like doing the jumping puzzle in Rhalgr's and just sit there looking over the entire area. It's quite nice.
They'd have to phase every change for those that've finished the MSQ considering how big a part the Reach plays in it. I'm somewhat expecting them to do something unconventional and instead renovate the Doman Quarter to become the central hub. It has its own map and you can travel to it freely, which is strange for a place you go to once, watch a cutscene, and then leave.
Kugane. I prefer the feel of a bustling trade hub to that of an ex-rebel HQ in partial ruin.
I love Kugane. I wish the tomes were there so I could hangout there but I only use it for MB purposes right now.
While Kugane certainly fulfills my dream of a city like city on Hydaelyn, i will have to say i prefer Rhalgrs Reach. It just feels cozier in a way. Like i belong there. Like it has a purpose.
Kugane for what its worth now is just a glorified crafting hub with jumping puzzles that in my opinion screams future content. Theres an Airship tower with no connections. We got three zones of a continent in the expac with the large overworld map showing cool places in Othard we have yet to visit. We got a beastment tribe, once player-race concept art in Othard. Going through the Xaela tribes, we've only seen about half of them. In my dream scenario, 5.0 will open rest of Othard, Let us explore the remaining tribes, bring more Wolfmen and make Kugane the Limsa Lominsa of the far east.
Reach because it's where the tomes and the people are at. Kugane is nice and all but after people shuffle through the msq, that place is going to be a ghost town for the most part since it's the farthest away from anywhere you typically want to be. Basically Ishgard 2.0.
Kugane.
Because I can visit my regular oiran anytime I want.
I think putting endgame quests and such in Rhalgr's Reach is dumb. Everyone there should be rebuilding Ala Mihgo. If they build it up like Idyllshire and Revenant's Toll while Ala Mihgo and Doma remain piles of rubble, that will be even dumber.
Sure Rhalgr's Reach has a swimming area..
But does it have a JUMP PUZZLE? * evil laugh *
Reach. It is just more convenient with the use of mounts and open space.
I think Kugane is far prettier and for now I like where it's marketing boards and summoning bell are.
Kugane, I hope they stay untouched by the war.
Rhalger's has the best music but Kugane is prettier and has a market board. I'm happy there's an actual divide between in-game hangouts now since everyone pretty much stayed in Idyllshire all day and night for HW.
Kugane is much more appealing as a city compared to Ishgard since it's not segmented into separate areas with loading screens. Kugane has a vibrant atmosphere so i do like it more than Reach.
Ishgard did have its upsides too!

Reach is nice, and I LOVE the music, but it needs more climbable headache inducing places for me to spend more time there while not AFK (jumps off of holstery and into the void)
Honestly, it wasn't a bad place to hang out. Only the loading screens bummed me out. Same thing with the older cities.
I do wish SE reworks the old ARR maps at some point in the future, so the old maps and cities are connected without loading screens. I know they can fill the gaps between the areas.
Wishful thinking but one can hope.
Kugane, no contest
Kugane. I love Asian/Japanese aesthetics. I see a lot of people RPing here too and it
just feels like a really lively city. Really fun to be around the Bizare and stuff at night, place is lit
up beautifully. I wonder if this is the new hub for people though in Balmung. I see tons more people there
than Reach.
Would have to go with Kugane. I think it's the music more than anything else.
Kugane without a doubt. It's a gorgeous city and the music is so relaxing.
The only thing I like about Rhalgrs is the watery area.
Kugane
It's raining men! Hallelujah it's raining men!
