Gear up son...

Been playing my DRK and WHM since queues have been bad for DPS (Rather play my NIN) So I've been healing 70 dungeons and some of these Tanks want to pull mobs like this is heavenward still.... I check their gear at its 282-290 stuff and they are just getting wrecked and keep trying to double pull. So hopefully this reaches to somebody. Remember healers can't heal through everything..

Thumbs up, plus tanks need to gauge your dps capabilities first, if nothing is dying, healers only have so many ogcd abilities and mp to keep you alive.

Bottom line, if there's not at least 1 SMN or BLM...big pulls will be bad. At least in my experience.

Sam too, they don't look like it, buy I've seen them aoe pretty nicely

Should Note: A competent SMN or BLM

Thunder IV > Blizzard IV > fire III > Fire II > Fire II > Flare > Flare > convert > flare and foul when it comes up.

Very few tanks could mantain aggro from me when I do this on big pulls. It is not every pull that I have lucid dream, so even with a good BLM you need to rely on your skills to keep aggro

So you, as a healer, are having trouble keeping up with the tank's pull?

Maybe you're the one who needs to "gear up". Eh?! Anyone?! :'D OK... :(

No but seriously, when I used to heal in WoW, I remember that if wasn't spam-healing the tank, they WOULD die or come very close to dying. There was very little else I could do.

Now I know in FFXIV, healers don't often need to spam their heals on the tank like a Black Mage spams Fire III. But if I'm tanking 2-3 packs of mobs, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!

I will keep that in mind, I heard that later dungeon mobs hit pretty hard now, and with all the nerfs that have happened gotta take things slow.

They were prolly in dps stance wearing all str accessories..

I've been doing big pulls in all the dungeons so far, granted I'm only 65 - and I use vit accessories / and I use tank stance. I'm sure the 70 dungeons will hit pretty hard until I get enough lv70 gear...

Some of the big mobs in the lvling dungeons have 300-500k hp and hit pretty hard, so they probably would live through more than 1 cd usage. I don't really do big pulls if I don't have a premade group. Maybe 2 groups at most, but there are also exceptions where 2 groups of mobs could be problematic.

This is the result of know-it-alls running their mouths nonstop about "efficiency" and all that nonsense. Monkey see, monkey do.

There's a reason AoE attacks were scaled back for Stormblood, people. That cheap way of inflating your DPS is done.

Somewhat of a force of habit to try and do big pulls. If IIIIII don't do big pulls my healers or my dps will run a mile ahead of where I stop a pull to try and pull more mobs to the current pack... Which sometimes gets them killed. I'm speaking from ARR and HW experiences. When I got my ass kicked in The Sirensong Sea with those two packs after the boat part? I was like yah ok I'll wait a patch or two til I try big pulls again.

there is where cover comes handy, cast cover while doing the same aoe aggro rotation is a must in sb's big pull.

When I was leveling my drk to 70 if it was my first time in a dungeon I would only pull one group at a time, after that I never really had a problem pulling 2 sometimes 3 packs just used the right cool downs at the right time DA abyssal drain and things would normally go fine and my healers never had a problem idk maybe I just got lucky or something.

I usually only pull one pack, myself. But often times, there's usually that one prick who runs ahead, pulls another pack, drags it back while I have salted earth down, and gets us all killed. And who gets the blame? Me.

Tell me how long did you finish your drex by doing single pulls

same, not had any problems with large pulls, though as pld i can sustain myself fairly well if things go wrong

To me, it's really simple, tanks need to remember how to play tank, and play bu those rules until their gear allows them to bend the rules.

I respect everything you are saying and agree with most of it. That being said, if a tank gets away with a big pull with one party, we tend to assume we can do that pull with any party. We can forget that all dps aren't going to kill packs at the same speed or all healers aren't going be able to heal us at the same rate. If you feel like the tank is pulling more than you are comfortable with, I think your best bet is to let the tank know. They may not like having to slow down, but at that point, if a wipe happens because the tank pulled too much, the blame rests solely on the tank.

I'm going to be that guy and say Fire 2 is a waste.

The only reason we fire2'd in heavensward was because some cast was better than no cast.

With the level 68 trait, the two flares more than easily fill up the time waiting on transpose.

Blizz 3, Blizz4, T4, Fire3, Flare Flare, transpose, Blizz 4, Flare Flare. Fit in procs and foul as they come.

I'll pull the first pack and see how the aoe goes. Tanks are still getting use to the nerfs se put on us so there will be growing pains. Apparently the community wanted to slow boat dungeons and se was happy to oblige.

To start by pulling just the first pack in a dungeon to get a feel for the DPS and heal capability. If things look good I'll ask the healer if it's cool to pull doubles. But then again, a lot of parties these days there's zero chat at all. Damn console players need to get keyboards.... :P

100% percent agree and the only answer in this tanks mind is o the healer sux or o the healer is weak when hes melting like wax on a candle had this happen many time one particular pld got upset with me my gear is at max i lvl did a big pull hes gear was below 300 and was using sword oath wtf trough out the whole run he would blame me and he was on sword oath must be the new shield oath XD and i told him you gear is garbage for those pools hes reply beautiful silence

Rarely have a problem with massive pulls (PLD). Any half decent healer can keep up with me, and half the time I heal myself.

Biggest pull I've done is in Alamhigo with a NIN and a caster. After the first boss I pull straight to next wall, which is a total of 5 groups and an arena later (with the 2 patrol groups of dogs). Normally I ask the caster or the BRD (cuz I've yet to see a MCH rofl) to use LB for it.

Normally tho I pull just 4 groups there cuz that 5th group is way far up still. I did that with double DRG and there was no wipe, tho it became a little epic when I got low on cds.

Healers remember to save Lucid for pulls if you know your tank is going to pull big. Don't waste it on bosses for mana. The bosses are the easy part.

the fk that is what every healer in here just said tanks with scruby gear want to pull big you did read that part my gear is fully melded but i can only heal what you can kill or take like a meat shield i cant fkn turn you in to super tank with trash use of cds an buffs cant blame other ppl for not knowing your role is what is the point p.s also low dps will not help

Idk what your experience has been with tanks. I've done almost of Alamhigo before without a healer even in the party (and no Protect). Just with 2 dps. We did not wipe on anything, even bosses. http://prntscr.com/fn6ycc A replacement healer finally came before we got to the last boss.

Healed myself + The BLM and SMR throughout, and did Warrior-sized pulls still.

I manage my cds and heal myself. Don't lump me in with garbage tanks.

at the start of a new expansion this always happens as well we go from months of plowing through content we overgear by a stupid margin to actual relevant content that that may or may not out gear us. So yo can't just walk through without getting splattered. give it some time and people will be back to pulling everything humanly possible again

Do people actually keep a timer when running dungeons? Of course they do. FFXIV is now a job to take seriously instead of a game to have fun in. But to properly answer your question, I don't keep timers on an online game.
