Auto log off does not work, 2400 queue to enter after going down. Upgrade servers!

Ever since SB released we where given very little customer service and communication. Cutting the tree by the leaves and not digging up the roots never works, and the auto log off is just like cutting off leaves off a tree because you have leaves in your yard.

Back when they "upgraded" servers, our log in queues did not change, meaning capacity was not increased. What did this upgrade really do then? There is still long queues, input delays still exist, effect delays still exist, what is going on?

this upgrade prevented Balmung from melting down the old outdated server.
you think it's bad now? just think how much worst it would have been with the old server.

How long did the 2400 player queue take? The number in the queue, itself, means very little. There were reports in other threads from people of Balmung getting in within less than half an hour well into primetime.

50 mins, then 3 hours later I got a 29 minute Queue that was 409.

It's no surprise the queues are the same for the high pop servers, of course everyone is going to bum rush back in after the 10 minute wait. Their band-aid did nothing but increase congestion on the servers that weren't having queuing issues. Your problem is, you're on balmung. Get off balmung if you want shorter times, don't whine and complain when you signed up for it. I'm on behemoth and I'm only waiting a minute in queue before getting into the game. The servers aren't the issue, its people who want to cram themselves into an already full server.

The problem on Balmung will be resolved when enough people leave or go inactive. The more people complain, the greater the likelihood that the devs will forcefully break up the server.

And yet there was never an issue of this sheer magnitude with the release of HW back on the old servers. So there's no way they upgraded the servers much if at all.

Honestly there's no reason they can't afford a proper bigger server upgrade given all the money they were taking under the table for so many years to transfer into Balmung even though it was supposed to be a closed server. They could have prevented the problem from growing so huge if they had actually really closed server transfers to Balmung long ago. Since the World Transfer Service page had said for a long time that "Characters cannot be transferred to a World which has already reached the limit for character creation.". Yet despite that SE more than happily accepted money under the table from people wanting to transfer in for years. Thus SE's rampant greed and refusal to address the core issue of overpopulation sooner lead to the state Balmung is in now.

So you got in twice with a total of 79 minutes in queue? Whereas yesterday at these times you could have gotten in once in 4 hours? It may just be a bandaid for the problem but it certainly seems it alleviated some of the issue. You can call for them to upgrade their servers all you want, I highly doubt they will do anything monetary to resolve a temporary problem that only majorly affects 1 of the 30 some servers.

Their "fix" affecting more people than the root problem they're trying to snuff out is a bigger concern than Balmung's <1 hour queues.

A few days ago it was 1 hour per 1k people, this is a huge improvement imo

I notice a huge improvement today too, and it's definitely prime time at the moment. You complain a lot, Aya. :confused:

I'd be curious to know how DPS queues are looking now (at least on Aether). Had a theory that at least with more players being active, might cut down on duty queues as well.

I mean I'm on Balmung too, and it was definitely an improvement. Usually when I wake up and log on, I've got about a 1500 person queue that takes 2-3 hours for me to get in. Today I had a 2500 person queue and got in after like a 20-30 minute wait. More people does not equal longer queue.

On a more random note, considering how much people are complaining, I feel it's only a matter of time before the devs actually consider deleting us.

SE caused the problem because they took too late to take actions, up to them to fix the mess they let happen

So they rather lose money and subs by not fixing he real problem? makes sense. I do not think hoping people stop login in to fix a problem is a good mentality to have.
you have to understand these are not even prime hours! the 4 hour thing was during prime hours , I am unwilling to test prime hour queues

Because they don't want to.
Because you guys brought this upon yourself.
Because you knew Balmung was supposedly closed but did it anyway simply because you could.. now it blew up in your own face.

blaming the cop for not stopping you from speeding is just lame.

So if it took you 50 minutes to get through a 2k queue..that's not a problem considering the fact that yesterday it would have taken 3-4 hours to go through such.

Aw, it didnt work. took about one hour, 15min to log in from 1500 @5:30pm pst, oh well its life. from Balmung with Love!

They will lose most of those subs regardless. Many people play at the start and that number will rapidly decline in the coming weeks regardless of server queues.

the Queue onto Balmung is a lot better yesterday it took 3 hours to get on in a 2k Queue today i was on in an hour in around the same line the problem is not the size of the Server its all the AFK cheating and not allowing the auto kick to kick them after the forced log out today i was in a 3k Queue for around 30 mins at the start of peak hours just fix the auto kick and we would be good

this mass log off is a band aid which definitely helped the problem but not a proper fix still saw people back on AFK immediately afterwords but I was able to switch characters around 5pm and took about 30 minutes when the queue was taking 2-3 hours before.

SE is unable or unwilling to actually fix the AFK exploit

I saw this coming a mile a way. All it did was put everyone back in a queue. Sure it solves the AFKer problem but it just made everyone scramble to log back in and the higher populated servers got to play the queue game again. Granted the one thing it solved was making the queue slightly smaller.

A suggestion, perhaps.

Default everyone's "Away" timer to 10 minutes and then 10 minutes later, if there's been no activity in the craft or NPC dialogue, disconnect them.

That gives them 20 minutes to do whatever it is that they're doing without congesting the queue.

I'm also pretty sure you guys can make it so it's only Balmung, too.

No other server on the Data Center is having issues.

This is already in effect, basically. The problem is the game literally cannot disconnect you if you're crafting or interacting with things like Aetherytes.

Wish I could give you more than one like.

2.5 hour queue became 1 hour for me at ~7pm pst. I'll say that's an improvement.

3 weeks into SB. And new stuff coming soon. Those numbers aren't changing.

Especially once people secure housing for FCs

worked for me, I was queue position 1600 and took me about 35 mins

Any 'proper' fix would take development time and testing time, and wouldn't be able to help with the issue now.

A proper fix still needs to be implemented, but this 'band aid' fix will serve to alleviate some of the issues in the meantime.

How many people were that wanted to move off Balmung, but couldn't because that would require logging in to clear out their retainer and quit the FC? Abusers were preventing the problem from even being solved.

It does work at 10:10pm Central time my queue was only 734 and it took me less than 30minutes to go log in. Probably like 24 minutes?

This exploit was known at HW launch but SE decided to ignore it then, they had lots of time to address it so dont give them a excuse.

I'm not excusing them.

I'm only pointing out that it takes time.



Seemingly it wasn't exploited nearly enough for long enough during Heavensward's release for SE to take notice of it and have the 'higher ups' allocate dev time to fixing the issue.

Now, it's been exploited so bad that the devs have been required to take steps to try and alleviate the issue.
These steps are a 'quick fix' and are helping in the short term.


But they do need to work on a proper long term solution.

Please. You couldnt be further off from reality if you tried. For two weeks I've been dealing with on average 3 to 4 hour queues. Today I was 1,327 in line at 5:15pm Pacific time and it took an hour to get through. My second time a couple of hours later took 20 minutes. Everyone I know has seen a drop of login times, by 2/3's. That's a HUGE improvement. I knew the AFK-exploiters were making our problems several times worse, and people were justifying it. Then I watched people cry about the auto-log out when it was announced this morning in /shout chat and on facebook FFXIV groups. Well the sky didnt fall, they didnt do this during prime time, and it made logging on MUCH better.

They'll basically pay you to leave Balmung.

But really, the queues were 3+ hours as recently as two days ago. If they're under an hour, then that's a huge improvement.

Even one hour instead of three hours is not tolerable.

There will always be a queue, the login servers don't allow everyone to connect at once so it doesn't crash the servers so it has to let people trickle in. But happy that the queue speeds have increased. Kicking people out still isn't the solution though and I hope they are working on something more player friendly.
