maybe a lot of people are doing moogle, quests, achievements?
achs are pointless only few offer rewards and the rest are pointless to get cause it offers nothing in having them. You NEED healers now since thm with cure isnt as good as it used to be.
i dissagree.
without AOE abilities the general flow of battle with linked mobs is considerably slower. its also a lot more tedious without any crowd control spells.
it kinda sucks that partying is so reminiscent of FFXI stationary partying (which i couldnt f*cken STAND)
the mobs dont have to die as quickly as other MMOs, but having a decent amount of AOE damage is really fun for me.

I deleted my post, because I agree that its probably not an extremely large XP benefite in a regular group grind, but I feel its faster none the less, AoE or not. Even with the XP bonus for completing leves. at level 35 you get 2500ish ona leve completion. At 35ish on Young raptors, with chaim bonus your around 700 (I know I was 750-775, but to be safe we will go with 700). So in the time it takes to go back and log more leves I will easly kill many many more then the 4 it takes to make up that small gap.Not to tmention, in a decent party the flo of pulling and killing, is always going to be more consistant then a leve any day and anyway.
Now on second thought after looking at the 8 leves I did today and the XP I gained, compared to the XP I gained in the few parties I was in shortly after doing a regular grind, I have to say your mistaken. The XP is certainly better in group grinds then leves, hands down.
I'm glad they took the aoe out of it. I agree it can stand some adjustments, but things feel a lot more stable now. I don't like all that chaotic nonsense on my screen. With a battle being so heavily dependent on AOES just makes it a blameless spam fest and rendered sleep useless. Now people have to watch what they are doing, who they are attacking, and being reliable. Again, I agree it could be adjusted more but I am so happy they put a stop to all the retarded aoes.
past tense/present tense: rendered, renders. But yea lets make everything aoe so we don't have to play the game. We could all just spam aoe weaponskills all day and not worry about strategy.

I have never got a exp party and people don't use the search thing the only choice is to do leves that give 79 exp a mob and 2.8k upon completion. I don't get how they can make exp so bad.
Yup i see people still shouting while im using the seek and have the classes they are looking for in the same level range. Just makes no sense. Starting to think at 40+ leve links will be the only way to level. Would be A LOT better if they allowed you to select leves and repeat them as long as you had leve allowance
I felt like partying, put up a seek flag and got a party within 3 minutes.
This system is totally broken.
I haven't tried a party since the patch, but if the indirect nerf is as big as you say, I'm glad. Getting to cap in 2-3 days of hardcore partying ate up a lot of the fun for the people that actually enjoy the grind (and/or take a while to do it). I took months to go from archer 1->30 (mostly solo, a little bit at a time, before xp chains), and then I went 30-41 in less than a day with parties. That's just too damn fast.
I did, however, like the FEEL of XP parties. They were frenetic and exciting even if they were easy. I would have rather had them nerf the XP gain than slow down the battles, but hey. In the long run, we'll probably forget this one.
God damnit, just level the old fashioned way!
If you could get 45-50 in 3 hours of EXP in a Stronghold then it was really broken, thing that they might have fixed and now you might take more time leveling up your classes, which brings up some of my points:

you know, the thing we had in exp parties pre-patchfunOf course that isn't to say that post patch ones aren't fun, I haven't even been in one... but it should be one of your main points for pretty much anything in the game
i prefer soloing and hate partying for leveling.
i prefer partying for all forms of bosses, instances, and anything with endgame and hate doing any of it solo/duo/trio.
i also speak for millions of other talented hardcore players on the planet who partly dont play this game because of the leveling system.

You don't need any knowledge about your EXP get, because when you have fun you'll not even notice you've got almost the level. Just go and try!
wtf at make everything AOE so you dont have to play the game? thats the worse case of nonsense extremism ive seen all day... and i live in los angeles.
first off, only MRD and and CNJ were able to effectively AOE at all. THM wasnt that good at damage so AOEing things didnt really exist for any other class if you remember correctly.
second, having to rely on such a high level spell for your only means of crowd control and LOLOLOL "having to pay attention to what your fighting" brings you right back to the terrible horrible laughable days of early FFXI and LOLOL everquest single mob at a time battles.... which are regarded as terrible ways of grouping by many many people.
Third, #1 games of the modern age rely on a good amount of AOE which is partly why they are popular
Fourth, the battle system has been noted in countless interviews, including recent ones, as being quite slow even when we had AOE. now it is literally slower.
Fifth, the game has a good amount of mob linkage yet all classes, except THMs fire spells and MRDs ending combos, are now all single target. this means MRD is now even more similar to LNC because they are both single target DPS classes- one having a bit more defense. SO why cant we have 1 melee class with 1 or 2 default AOE abilities to help out with damaging more than 1 mob at a time.
Sixth, it speeds things up a bit and many many people find hitting more than just 1 thing at a time is fun in itself.
oh yeah and Seventh, what about soloing leves? do none of your leves spawn more than 1 mob at a time?
i constantly have to fight several mobs during leves at once and not having any AOE options makes things not only more frustrating, but it slows my battles all together. i dont have any enfeebling options to be able to even take on two dodos at once. or like when the last 3 cactuars appear right in front of my face and murder me even though i was able to rock the rest of the entire leve.
I try to take on more than 1 mob at a time during leves anyway because its more fun. now i cant really do that.
I EXP'd just last night, and I'd hardly say it's broken. 19 -> 24 in...1-2hrs? Quite the mish-mash of jobs as well (2x PGL, 2x GLD, THM, CNJ, MRD, LNC). We were doing Cactuars, and it was GLD/MRD crowd control until they all died, with the occasional THM Fire to hurt them all.
*shrug* It was fun, and great EXP, so I'm happy. :D
I remember the days of Everquest and how it was said only people with extreme Gamer ADD and can't look at the same spot for 5 seconds complained about it, which I suppose is why game designers these days make mobs have 10 HP and bosses take at least 3 hits to kill.
Guys, guys. I dunno about you but I like to hang out with my friends punching monsters in the face while saying shit to eachother over Skype or in the game chat. I did that before this patch and am still doing it!!! (i'm a new player, though, my best class is a LNC 24. I got in this game because my friends are playing it)
I'm a bit bitter about random pickups since guys very, very rarely do that. They tend to keep silent and just expect you to be omniscient about the game and whatnot :(
Still, fast or slow what I like best is still around so, not complaining.
I formed a 40-44 full party from the search function last night (GLAx2 LNCx3 ARC CON THM). We used a beastmen camp in grid and were able to hold the camp killing spawns as they came to us with a tank on each side. If we ended our EXP chain on the level 49s mobs we would get over 1000xp; I leveled from 40-42 LNC in a decent amount of time. Experience parties are viable but seem to require more party coordination / strategy then before. Just my 2 Galka cents.

Anywho, agreed with guy debating with Baxter. Having my husband play a tankable type job, while I'm on THM with NO way of controling the mobs in leve spawns except with the hope that one of my elemental spells will land some sort of status effect sucks. Really bad. They removed so many spells that I had in order to deal with multiple mobs. Blah. I can deal with AOE's being removed or restricted in my spell casting...I can even de2al with points for traits and such being removed and only be allowed a few other spells or abilities being aloted to my class...but no crowd control? Really? Can I get a Slow and a Para spell...please?
You mean........ the mechanics of a full party with proper setup actually matters now? SHIT!!!!!!!!!! I hate games that make sense.

600-700 exp from maxed out chains in a ~25-30 party is pretty nice in my opinion
