So that was a thing that happened. 400+ people zoned into instance 3 of The Lochs on Ultros and everything went downhill from there. Ixion wound up killing a lot more people than you see here 'cause I've loaded the maximum number of people I'm allowed to see. :D
Pretty sure everyone got Silver/Bronze on it that time and nobody got Gold. Everyone was fussing about it.
SE, fix yo servers. I couldn't even combo into Goring Blade 'cause the server wouldn't pick up on my Fast Blade or Riot Blade. lol

I think they need to lower the requirements for max rewards on both hunts and boss FATEs, at least for now.

Same thing happened to Odin back then. They ended up decreasing the requisites of getting gold, making it easier for people to reach said rank.

I suspect it works like any fate where the difficulty is scaled based on the amount of people who did it last time.
If 400 people did it, expect 400x~ the difficulty.

I thought they changed that this expansion.

Edit: Quote from the patch notes - "Changes to difficulty based on the previous number of participants will now affect all FATEs in the nearby area rather than individual FATEs."

I am unsure if this affects the super fates or not, maybe not.

They need to make this fate spawn across all three instances of The Lochs simultaneously, currently if you're not in the zone when it spawns or absurdly quick to get there you'll just be blocked from entering because the instance is congested with 350+ people.

I'd rather take 1-2 guaranteed horns as opposed to 0 from not being able to enter the zone.

You mean you guys actually got to finish the fight without the instance just disconnecting and booting everyone to the character screen? LUCKYYYY

it's the fundamental game design flaws that shouldn't be in what you would call a 'Massively Multiplayer Online' game

first, the zone sizes are a joke, although they've been getting progressively bigger with each expansion, you can obviously tell that the transformation from 1.0 to ARR introduced gating everywhere and made zones tiny and compartmentalized and they have been struggling to push the envelope

the amount of players you can render is a joke, the draw limits are a joke, the names of mobs and players only show up when you get in close distance of them, too close

i was finally able to see it for first time (and waited today more then 5hrs) and got nothing :(
We were at most 4 in group but because of the amount of lag i was having trouble trying to invite people and staying alive
This fate is NOT at all worth the time wasted

This is why instances are back (Back on my server at least, Lich). Even with our low pop server, everything crashes when it spawns at a 'normal' hour. The thing is now, more and more people are getting the mount. As such, less and less people need/want to do the FATE, which makes less people coming and which makes the remaining people 'less' crash. Of course this only happens on small pop servers for now but I believe it will soon happen to higher pop server (?)
(= more instances -> more spawns -> more people getting the mount -> less crash!)

But... ok... servers need some improvement ! :|

Saw this FATE some five times now, I think - 3 bronzes, 2 creditless DCs.
Couple of times could not even enter the instance and did not participate :P

This doesn't even count for my "rez random players" achievemt because I lag so bad the spells don't even go off lmfao

So the devs didn't (or did they?) anticipate this issue would come up?

Yeah okay, I get that this whole temporary layer bullshit was supposed to alleviate load issues. But if everyone loads into the same layer, is it really helping? And why even implement this fate in the first place? Who is the genius dev planning stuff like this that just invite problems?

Honestly, they need to reduce the amount of effort needed to get the Ixion mount. Either that or make sure super important fates like Odin,Behemoth, and Ixion give off a server-wide message indicating their fate is up.

Because people kept asking for more open world stuff. Then when we get it we complain people are gathering in the open world areas to do the things.

I don't think that's fair to put the blame on people asking for open world content. No one asks for something hoping it gets implemented poorly. There are plenty of games out there that do open world boss fights just fine, so the people asking for these to be added to XIV probably didn't think they were requesting an impossible mission.
