I think it might be an FC only thing, sadly. To preserve the workshop/company rooms when you move to a different plot. The feature will come into the game when they release the Shirogane wards and I ASSUME we'll get more details about it then.
I came on here to see if the rumors are true and first thread, my suspicions are realized!
Such a bummer, especially because mansions are so affordable now. Good luck getting a private one...
I can't imagine they are going to offer those transfers right away upon opening up the housing or they will have wards designated for transfers in addition to the normal ones. They have to give current server residents a chance to purchase.
Actually change that. They are allowing transfers to the a similar plot in a similar area. I don't think they are allowing transfers from say the Mists to Shirogane. At least I hope not. I want my mansion.
I'm pretty sure they will be allowing people to move from one of the old districts to the new one. You will also have to pay for the new plot as if you were buying it without moving your old plot. You will also not be reimbursed for the old plot you owned. The new district being FC only is only word of mouth, SE hasn't confirmed this yet. Although I highly believe it will be for personal housing as well.
That seems odd though.
I believe that Shirogane will be open to all FC and private alike.
But, transferring a house? That would mean Mist style stone mansions in an eastern setting of Shirogane? That will looks horrible.
I saved up for the past few months to be able to buy a new one. I just wana make sure that everyone has an equal chance at a plot cause there are only 72 large mansions to go around.
I really hope it's for everyone because I don't want to demolish my house, go to a zone to buy a new one, and end up losing both in the bloodlust that follows
I personally doubt they'll open up the zone without also having transfers available. It would make zero sense to add transfers later, after all the plots are already taken.
They've only confirmed that FCs will me able to move. They have yet to confirm or deny whether individual player houses will be able to use the move feature.
It's worth noting that FCs using the moving feature will have to purchase the plot of land at full price. Their workshop and airship progress will remain intact when they move.
Since it's confirmed that you have to buy the plot, even when moving, and individual player houses don't workshops, the only thing moving would do for an individual player is guarantee they wouldn't lose their old plot. Beyond that, the move feature wouldn't provide any benefit (to an individual) over the current system of relinquishing your old property and buying a new plot.
I would like to thank you for this comment. I was looking to move to the new area, but was told to just transfer over. But I was rather confused by it, as it didnt seem to matter if I just relinquished my house, and went to buy the new plot.
Which is what Im going to end up doing. Im just not sure when to relinquish my house. I took all my stuff out already and 98% ready to move (Just need to take my Bell/Mender out).
So I guess any time would work for me, and it will help out any FCs that are looking for a large plot right now.
If transfers are in at the beginning of Shirogane I'll be extremely irritated. The plots are already too few, apartments don't magically fix the issue and the only way I'll ever be able to own a house in this game is by breaking the rules that are arbitrarily enforced.
Shirogane offers me an opportunity to beat the queues and finally get a house that I've been trying to get since literally the release of housing and if people could just transfer there right off the bat then it kills that chance, because any plots in the other zones will just be snapped up by owners already in that zone.
I feel the queue on Balmung will be so strong the people waiting in the wings to snap up their old fc houses may not even be online at the same time as the fc leader going to move the fc. You know? That fc leader cannot wait for them to log on and get in place, or those houses will be gone instantly.
Have hope! People are transferring more and more, four of my friends have found themselves houses that were just abandoned after the transfer incentives were put in place. If you don't care that much about Shirogane, I would definitely periodically check the residential aether crystals in the cities where we have housing.
It's not even a Balmung issue. If Square Enix could guarantee a group to raid with and a housing plot I would jump ship instantly.
But their "free transfer" trap had someone who went over to Mateus and bought 12 (or 24, the number isn't clear) plots up for themselves. Square Enix has, apparently, done nothing about it.
