If DDOS is real I want justice

This morning i read what a ddos is. Whatever. I have a feeling it's the bizillion gil sellers that glitch underground trying to get all of their characters logged back in not ddos. Might affect the server the same way. Idk. Anyway whoever it is, whatever it is I want them to be prosecuted if you guys can zero in on who's doing this. Take your time, put them in jail and have their families starve while they're in prison for their crime. This sucks. your expansion is amazing. I've loved just about every minute of it, even the nerfs/changes i don't totally agree with. I think I just don't understand yet.

Get these guys square enix. As a veteran FFXI player and a Legacy FFXIV player, these people don't understand how cruel you can be to the ones who love you. Just wait until they experience square enix when they're angry!

So these guys minorly inconvenienced a bunch of people paying to play a game, and "justice" to you is to "put them in jail and have their families starve while they're in prison for their crime"? Doesn't that seem a little, well, unjust?

DDOSers are usually teenagers and spoiled children. Not people who make money for their families.

Well idk what a ddoser is. I don't care either. It's a pain in the butt and I know it's frustrating to everyone including SE. SE should be reimbursed for the money they have had to spend on employees working to stop this network spam

Jail and a tar and feather ending with someone with very calloused hands slapping them in the face on video that we will all be able to watch later

This whole entire topic is horrifying and the mental visuals are disturbing.

Actually DDOSing a major company is illegal in many countries and also considered a form of cyber terrorism in a few as well. Prison is not off the table if they are from those places.

I don't know where this man has been all our lives but I want him in charge of important, impactful things.

While the OP is kinda getting a murderboner over this, I do agree that DDOSers need to have a book thrown at them. There needs to be an example made out of these people, because not only are they "inconveniencing" a playerbase, they're also forcing companies to lose millions of dollars simply because they're mad at the game or just want to troll it. It's not too far from people swatting twitch streamers (though that could lead to deaths so perhaps that's a bit worse).

I don't think they should be tarred and feathered, but I do think at least some amount of "justice" would suffice, just so then other folks thinking DDOSing something for fun will realize it may not be worth it.

Idk, I was 90k'd and I started a post while I am waiting. Might have got out of hand. Well, not really... I still feel the guilty party should be punished. Where can you find tar these days anyway?

We'll throw a few ice cubes in the tar to cool it off a bit. I'm not inhumane.

I am pretty sure this isn't a DDOS attack. I've looked at numerous DDOS attack maps and during the time period they claim there was no suspicious network activity targeted at the location of the NA servers. I think SE is using this as an excuse to not admit they screwed up. It's pretty convenient that this was announced right around the same time the servers went down for "emergency" maintenance. If this was a DDOS attack they would have known within hours of it starting, not days later.

I don't know about the starving part but if this is the same squadron of DDoSers I think it is then they should be penalized somehow. At the very least a steep, steep fine.

Because if it is the same group (Lizard) then this is hardly the first time they've done something like this (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizard_Squad)

I should note that I don't know if the core group is still active but people certainly drop their name from time to time to this day (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...responsibility)

All of this said I am not entirely convinced it was a hack. If it was, it was a very mild one.

Most of the botnets out there are run by organized crime who sell them, so going after the people who did this is legal, legit, and should be done.

Wow, just wow, that's à bit extrême op, I mean even Ishgard's justice wasn't that harsh. o.o

his idea is pretty nice compared to what I'd do to the DDOS'er. I'd kill his family as punishment and and make him sit infront of a computer all day with a picture of their bodies on it for the back ground, while playing minesweeper and if he loses a needle gets pushed under his finger n toe nails

I would send Yotsuyu to deal with the ones in question, simple.

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Can't you just take your fervor and put it somewhere useful? Maybe into banking supervision? Tax investigation? Maybe try and stop the NSA spying on people and violating their basic rights? There are so many things that could really use some angry citizen stomping their feet and going onto the street for some sweet justice.

The starvation part is a bit extreme, however seeking justice wouldn't be. This is part of SE's business model and acting in such way that purposefully impacts said business in a negative way can be sought in court as damage done or disruption to business.
