Divine Benison

I have been enjoying WHM, because I love WHM... and I just got to 70 so I haven't tried the confessions yet... but one of the abilities Divine Benison feels... lack lustre... it's a new water stone skin... but I feel it doesn't block enough... and the single target thing seems not as useful for most stuff...

I feel that it should have 3 different paths...

1. Make it a AOE so everyone around is affected by it... just would be nice as a little extra block for some damage...

2. Have it base off lillies, 1 Lilly is single target, 2 is group, 3 is stronger group... or something like that...

3. even the more lillies the stronger it is... so 1 is 15%, 2 is 20%, 3 is 25%....

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it's not as handy, but I haven't tried any 70 stuff yet, so it might be different then...

It's an instant oGCD 15% stoneskin that costs no MP with a short CD. Seems pretty damn powerful to me.

There is actually no problem with Divine Benison this is actually one of the most useful skills we got stone skin had its benefits but this is instant with the Lilly System giving you a 15% HP buffer based on the targets HP, as I said on one of the other posts that talks about Plenary Indulgence this is where the issue currently stands and definitely needs to be re-worked.

From other feedback I've heard, the only real problem with it is that it requires a lily in order to activate. Remove that requirement and I think they'd be golden. It would see more use in fights than stoneskin did (besides maybe prey markers) if using your other cooldowns didn't interfere with it.

lol its a 15 second cooldown, without the lily requirement its very OP. People please note that cure 2 has a 100% chance of lily. It is great for catching up on your healing. For example tank gets below 50% hp you cure 2, benison, and reapply HoTs. Its meant to give you a cushion to catch back up on your healing if you fell behind for some reason.

It's a two-step adloquium with a 30 second cooldown. Cure II for a 700 potency heal and then apply your 15% shield (results vary depending on tank), versus a 300 potency heal with a 300 potency shield with possible crit function. I'm not really sure how 15% tank-life compares to potency shields at this point, notwithstanding healing buffs and AST considerations, but with the 30 second cooldown this lets WHM decently handle some of the tank buster mitigation without having to rely fully on their partner healer as before. It's better than Stoneskin which had a weak shield effect tied to a cast time with no cure component, and having to cast Cure II not only gives it a strong initial heal to top-off before the hit, but should the lily already be in stock may not be required at all (especially if the off-healer or regens are topping the tank off).

Give WHM an AoE variant of this and they likely won't need a partner healer class at all.

It's a 30 second CD because it will never run the full 15 seconds duration. And as I said in that other thread, why do I even need Benison if I already got the tank out of danger zone? I don't fall behind on healing; and if I do, I still got Tetra, Assize, Benediction... so many option, Benison would be the LAST skill I use to catch up on healing. And even if it were different - 30 seconds CD stinks.

15% HP > 300 potency shield in most cases when on a tank. Both combos are 1GCD. Adlo cost is 50% more than cure2.

Pretty much any way you slice it its better than adlo. More heal, slightly bigger shield, less mp, more flexibility.

Or we could simply apply a Swiftcast Stoneskin and call it a day if we need that shield asap. Also, for me there is LESS flexibility because if Benison is on CD, I can't use it. I was always able to use Stoneskin. There is a difference between 'usable every 30 seconds' and 'usable whenever'. Also, stop ignoring the fact that we only get that skill at level 66. That's inacceptible.

Stoneskin was also very useful to protect DPS who died, since it effectively only ever dropped off when they took damage in a battle. Benison is almost useless for this, because it drops off after only 15 seconds no matter if damage came in or not.
Also, where does the 'less MP'-nonsense come from? Less MP than what? Does it cost less MP than Cure II + Stoneskin, sure. Does it cost more MP than only Stoneskin? No. Same cost as Cure II.

Honestly, White Mages need to stop treating Benison as a mitigation tool and start treating it as a non-direct healing method.

Do you have a Lily?
Is Benison off cooldown?
Is the tank going to be attacked for a decent amount of damage in the next five seconds?

USE BENISON!

Benison is effectively a cure that generates minimal hate and can never overheal. You SHOULD be using it much more often than Stoneskin since it's both instant and uses 0MP and should be using it at every opportunity to augment your own healing powers.

You would almost NEVER use Stoneskin if a tank can withstand the hit without it since Cure II AFTER the tankbuster goes out is a much more efficient use of the GCD that consumes the same amount of MP. Stoneskinning weakened players now is a non-issue now since their maximum HP does not drop anymore with weakness.

I would take Benison any day over any iteration of Stoneskin, even when it still had 18% HP protection just on the fact it's both instant and MP-less.

The "less MP" complaint is specifically in his comparison against Adloquium, which was his entire complaint. Adlo is about 20% more expensive than Cure II (his 50% is an improper embellishment), so yes, using a 700 potency heal followed by a benison shield is 20% less mana than a 300 potency heal with a 300 potency shield.

Benison is a versatile variant on adlo gated by its 30 second cooldown in exchange for not necessarily requiring the preceding Cure II cast, which makes it obvious that its purpose is to infuse a bit of SCH design elements into the WHM formula (specifically the tactics). Lilies in general are kind of a WHM variant of aetherize stacks separated from aetherize itself, given their variant is Assize (same mana return and cooldown, but heals and deals damage instead of awarding stacks), though the way they're tied to abilities is a unique experiment quite different from SCH's utilization. I suppose the bleeding over of class mechanics is only fair though, since so much of the WHM formula (technically CNJ, given it's shroud and seal) was shoved onto SCH for homogenization reasons (AST was already a WHM clone with cards to begin with).

Give it two more expansions and we will all play the same. What kind of minion do WHMs want? Perhaps a little tree sprout?
