for a new server (Omega), main starting cities are bustling with life, players everywhere, its great. Market boards are slowly settling down. In Terms of problems i'm not sure how you mean, log in queues aren't too bad, haven't had to wait for more than about 5 mins to log in.
Well, problems in case of if they're laggy, easy to access, any queues, etc. Any problems you found with playing on them.
Moving to a less populated server could generally mean better connection in general to the server. If you tried it out you might find your ping is better then on the congested server. I was on Tonberry and just moved to Tiamat, instantly found that I had a LOT less latency. I don't know if it is the lack of connections to players, or if my router just found a better path to the servers. Still would be good to check out for yourself if the server is better for you personally.
Omega is has filled up mostly. Cities and zones full of people. Queues never more than 10 mins at peak time though. I transferred from Cerb, and find it much less laggy. I mostly enjoy the fact i can go to work, come home, eat my evening meal and log in at 8pm without waiting for hours in a queue.
Righty, in regards to Lag nope, and i'm on talktalk so thats promising lol, log in queues worst i have seen was yesterday a queue of 449 and 5 mins wait to get online. but for problems the players are all happy and friendly everyone is making new friends and the server is running as it should, a few days ago the whole EU data center went down but just for maintenance, no glitches or random boots from the game
I Transfered from Cerberus the other day, wall to wall sprouts in the starting areas (for the free money ofc) but a nice lot of high end refugees also.
Oh and house prices are not mental, so that's nice.
Omega: I haven't seen so many people in the starting areas since the EA of ARR. There's mostly no lag for now but it's still filling up. Hunts and FATEs are no problem in the higher level zones already, any server-side instances work without problems. The housing wards are also filling up quickly (Lavender Beds).
Omega is already "full" (based on queue times alone is even more populated than a few others EU servers already) while Louisoix is growing slowly and is where genuine new players are starting. IMO, if you are looking for real fresh start and don't mind helping grow the community go to Louisoix and is you want something more popular or if you are interested in RP move to Omega.
Omega is doing fine. Longest Queue after some hours of transferring was 50 People. Longest wait time was 2 minutes.
We have many refugees from other Servers. I moved from Cerberus because of Queue time: 4000 (2-3 hrs waiting)
I moved to Omega to get away from the queues, now I am stuck in a 1900 queue... /sigh
Once the 15 days free play time bonus ends, Omega will returns to normality. I expect tons of characters being abandoned at level 30 there. I also see NA players swarming there, and given EU isn't their best choice for ping, I guess they just there to reap the game time reward and then kissing goodbye.
I would agree with everyone saying that people are just ere to get to level 30 if it wasn't for the fact that that takes about... 5 hours? 6? A day at most, with the insame xp boosts you can get there. I was level 22 for Sastasha doing purely MSQ and the level 1 quests in the starter city. The new areas feel fairly normally filled too, and that there is endgame players, so I think Omega really did just reach a normal size already. (Typing this while in a 1.312 Queue T.T)
Was thinking of moving to Omega for a fresh start due to some drama on zodiark, just was woundering how helpful and nice the players are there. Besides from dutys I also like to hang out and just small chat or just sit and have fun with a FC or friends.
Most people I meet on Omega are friendly, there are also lots of FCs you can join and lots of people to chat with. You'll see some random chit-chat in the city states at prime time and the occasional shout conversation that probably happens on every server. As for helpfulness, I don't know. I joined Omega as a "veteran" player (I used the free-transfer option to get a fresh start). Out of personal experience, I help people when they ask for it. Can't say anything about the Novice Network or other Mentors either.
The hunt community is nice and active, it's not hard to find a linkshell if that's your thing. And if you're into RP Omega is also a decent server to be, although it's mostly behind closed doors (most RP happens inside a house or a ward) every once in a while you'll see RPers in the open world RPing.
If you have any other questions or just want more information in general, add me on Discord: Kinazu#0865 :D
Omega is hardly new anymore as it was released a few days after SB came out which is over a year ago. EDIT: I've just now seen the creation date of this thread, I didn't realized this thread was necro'd.
I used to play on Moogle and transferred to Omega with the free transfer during the week SB launched because Moogle was full of French people and I don't speak French.
Anyway my time on Omega have been horrible, filled to the brim with bad toxic RP people and drama queens, this was one of the reasons I took a long break from the game (coupled with content drought), there also aren't many 'good' FC's around.
Many of the more 'serious FC's with people that can actually play' haven't really transferred over to Omega, it was more new people that started on there, there were a handful of decent FC's that cleared up to O4S at the beginning but it didn't take long for more of the serieus ones to transfer over and at that point I didn't really kept track of it anymore.
When I returned to the game not so long ago (thanks to a RL friend) I transferred over to Cerberus (also thanks to that same RL friend), and this has been the best decision I ever made in this game. There's so many great people on Cerberus both socially and in their skill to play the game. There's several great FC's around and has much more 'high end' oriented people then Omega has.
I've tried multiple FC's back on Omega where all of them have been pretty much failure but here on Cerberus it's totally the opposite (though I should thank my RL friend for this), I'm not in the same FC as he is but this FC is made by some great friends of his and trough him I got to know them and they all pretty much helped me catching up when I returned to the game.
In this FC there are also several people who've cleared ultimate, and there's also the 'social' people who're not in statics or do high-end content frequently but they play on such a high skill level they could easily do it.
The short time I've been here I've just been having such an amazing time being in this FC and being surrounded by all those amazing players. It's just so nice to have a good FC where you can just aks to run about anything and having smooth runs and just having people that actually know how to play properly.
This FC is the only reason I'm playing FFXIV right now and I'm so grateful for both my friend and the people in this FC.
If there is one thing I regret is that I didn't came to Cerberus earlier, amazing server community.
So the above is my experience on Omega and (for the type of player I am) how much better it is on Cerberus. The very few friends I had on Omega have been having the same experiences (they no longer play but they also had the same feel like me about Omega).
Playing 1 week on Cerberus and I already have much more friends then I ever had back on Omega after being on there for over a year and a half.
I don't have any information on louisoix as I never played on that server. But from what I heard it's a bit similar to Omega.
Only pick louisoix if you like your alone time because we must have the smallest pop of all the servers. Though it's great if you want to buy cheap gear as the market is flooded with everything as a result of the low pop. I'm almost certain some people come over to do shopping buy bulk and take back for a pricier sell. We're the Walmart of Eorzea. Limsa is busy as I'm sure it is everyrwhere but outside that, rhalgrs near the week beginning as people turn in tomes etc but it's pretty quiet all round tbh
I had a similar experience on omega I transferred to omega from leviathan when it first opened and also noticed an increase of server drama over time, and an increase in people rping which isn't what im interested in. And over a month ago decided to go back to Leviathan to play with old friends and was the best decision.
I would agree with Kinazu here. Omega has a overall friendly community with lots of FCs still actively recruiting. Content progress is fine, although probably not as swift as the more established servers due to the entirety of the player base being newer. I've been around a while and have multiple characters over multiple servers (See my join date) and can say that the skill level of the players on Omega is no different from other servers once they get the content down.
The markets are in a good condition if you're a buyer as the population isn't enormous you can usually pick up a good deal due to undercutting wars.
The server definitely has a larger RP group than other servers than I have seen and although I myself do not take part in it, the vibrant and extra free content I have witnessed makes it all the more worth while being here. I also believe that because of this group the Glam scene is of a higher quality than most.
It's sad to hear that Nebelheim and Fhaerron both had problematic times and I feel bad that the FC's they joined existed on Omega at some point.
If you decide to transfer DarksiderAlpha then feel free to look me up and I'll help you out for what you want with the contacts I have in those positions.
