What is the best NA server?

I'm looking for a new server, one that has roleplayers, nice login ques, not too much drama, and plots available. I've already ruled out Jenova, so that's a no go.

I left Jenova for Coerl today and so far it seems nice. Don't know if theres a large roleplay community here though that would be nice since I am a roleplayer myself.

The behemoth that is Balmung is pretty much the only place that you can reliably find RPers on. Others have tried to jumpstart it on other servers but reaching critical mass for that kind of thing is hard.

If you want nice login queues and available plots, you're going to have to pick a small server. Picking a small server is directly contradictory to wanting an active social environment, such as an RP hub.

Couerl has a love/hate relationship with RP. Some folks really work hard to get it going, others are absolutely opposed. I hear Mateus is the new RP server candidate.

Mateus is being pushed as the secondary roleplay server. It's small but they have discord and fairly well coordinated events. It is significantly smaller than Balmung, so keep that in mind. But if a growing RP community is what you're looking for, I'd say Mateus.

Faerie is dope. Medium size, Dnt know bout the rp size but ive seen them around, short ques during server issues such as stormblood EA.

Leviathan has the best.. We have um.... Our best feature is..err umm memes!... Oh yea, that's it, I forgot!

Come for the memes.... stay for the long queue times.

On Mal we have pie, but I don't think I've ever seen a live RPer. I'd say Mateus is the best suggestion if that's your thing.

really depends on your definition of "Best"

Mateus is probably the only server that fits your desires.

There's no role play on leviathan and while we do have normal queue times compared to other servers, during the EA it's still a queue of 45-75 minutes. Leviathan if you're not quick on patch day, will be like any other server, housing unavailable and the server tends to be more the home of crafters and gatherers. Especially at night time or early morning hours. Sure now with the EA we do have some returning players, but lets face it, unless you're in VG or RIP you'll find yourself having a hard time getting stuff done, since it's mostly extremely casual and the PF is full with people that never cleared stuff before, but advertising constantly farm parties etc. I wouldn't recommend it but hey that's just my opinion, see it for yourself if you like.

While i love Leviathan i cannot recommend it for the time being. Queue times both to get in game and then to actually do duties is rather long.
Tried to log back on from being booted twice and the queue was 3,000 long....
Once stuff gets back to normal (hopefully) it should be better

Don't come to Lamia.

I don't recommend Zalera either, unless you want a server full of immature children and rampant harassment, particularly in Limsa and now Kugane.

Leviathan

-Login times are almost non existent on Levi aside from when the server is suffering from DDoS/ISP issues or an event release. Other than that it's nice, especially given that Levi is now the #2 largest NA server (behind Balmung of course) as far as active players are concerned.

-There's also RPers on Levi. I don't RP myself, but every server has them. I know several of them. Hell there's even a mansion in LB dedicated to RP secifically. You just have to know people who can get you in touch with the community.

-Queue times for duties only suck if you're a DPS but that's pretty much any server.

-Housing... you can probably be a tenant somewhere. Empty plots on Levi aren't a thing aside from maybe the first 5-15 minutes when more wards get added.

There's no such thing as a server with no RP, drama or just all around bad/toxic people. Every server has a bit of everything. Some more than others.

Right now I can't recommend one.. Because SE isn't address the DDos attack that is happening and isn't getting better.
I got kicked off the lobby server 3 times today. Just trying to log on.

You could try Midgardsormr. It's a decently small sized server

Mateus is probably the best shot for an active group of consistent RP for NA players who don't want to be on Balmung. The population is small, but growing. If you're looking for other RP-friendly servers, Omega in the EU datacenter could be an option. I believe Siren also has some RPers, but I haven't heard from anyone over there in a while.

I would recommend Cactuar, except I dont want anymore people transferring here LOL. Last year we were small/mid sized server, I think someone was saying we're in the top 3 for active players now? I've heard good things about Mateus though! Little on the smaller size, but it's definitely getting a healthy RP community started.
