THM is the new MRD?

Many people are upset about the Mrd losing its super aoe abilities as it best in Sh situations. I wonder if THM will have proper strength nukes. IF so thm may be to go to for 1.20. In a few ours i guess i ill know.

Ya I thought this actually while i leveled up thm, if the uper end nukes are as good as the current shadowsear they should do wonderfully. This of course depends on survivability and mp consumption, since the two other things mrd was good at was staying alive for longer and could go all day as long as they have hp's.

yep, the reason mages are so powerful is cause they are weak, they have to manage hate and be careful. So a mage who cant heal or do alot of damage is useless. 1.20 will either be the rebirth or death of thm.

spells scale up in strength now so everything will be lvl 50 strength which will be a bonus.

especially with chains. fire->fira->firaga I can imagine will be rather devistating

if 1 thm spams then he'll get killed but if you bring 4 then they can take their time

there are ways to reduce hate, and if a THM uses the right moves and wears the right gear with the right materia. then i think rebirth

yea, i made a thread before for mages and the acer 42 skill chameleon to reduce hate. i hope rebirth cause i like playing thm and it game just doenst seem right with weak mages.

agreed, i have high hopes for blackmages :D

P.S. the thread title made me laugh, i just imagine a THM saying to a group "its ok we don't need a GLD, i'll do the tanking" lol

back with opt gear thm would were plated armor and mage tank,lol.

This thread makes me happy. :D

speculation of course, well see in a little bit. Im betting that DD aoes were nerfed because it cut the mages out.

yea, i leveled thm during 1.18 and barely played it during 1.19 cause it was kinda useless. I wish they would do ongoing balancing instead of only doing balancing during the big patches.

They felt even more useless in 1.19 than 1.18 for me really. . . No one would invite me for party in 1.19 and soloing was. . . horrible. . .

Yup, 2/3 GLA/MRD 5/6 THM, just you wait.

Eh, I still think MRD will have the ability to be an AoE machine, from the patch notes & ability/trait adjustments it's quite clear they're going to slow down the pace of combat, but for everyone. So I don't think MRD is going to lose it's position as being an AoE melee. I -do- think THM will become better at AoE, depending on MP regeneration, but it will really shine once BLM & BRD comes into play.

Glass cannons should be able to blast stuff, but they should also have to manage threat generation, which I think may also be a factor since I assume they'll adjust the enmity algorithm for the new combat pace. But speculation, we'll know for sure in a few hours.

I for one look forward to playing mob tennis with other thm's

I kicked a lot of ass on my thm as of 1.19, you guys need a ls that will take you to stuff as a thm, or get two to three friends and start the party then shout, they can't be like "omg you're a thm get out" if you started the party!
