It's been gone since 1.19. The icon was really only a tease after that point.
But now is gone for good...
I like that the sound effect for the current Barrage is being used for the Barrage buff after 1.20 - with a pretty cool animation no less.
Is anyone looking forward to the Bard job quest npc? "I used to be an archer like you and a bard! Until I took my own arrow in the knee."
You're a little late to the "I miss multishot" party. Practically speaking, DPS class balance in 1.19 isn't so far off as people tend to think it is, and I believe that 1.20 will continue to bring the classes more in line with each other.
Is not that im too late, i like archer class a lot and havent been using that class for quite sometime, it was my first class at 50, but what i mean is that it no longer appear in the skill list for archer, at least for me was the best skill in the game before all the battle reform, was a good thing to have as an archer and made it unique, tomorrow ill try this class first and see how it looks, i really wish that they make justice to that class and un nerf it again.
While i like the power of lancers and marauders i really enjoy ranged damage, especially how it was before the reform, was the only class that made you feel that you could do whatever you wanted and be tactical while attacking, i loved how you could almost kill a hard mob with all buffs and multishot having the mob almost dead at the begining of the fight, then shadow binding it for a last stack to get the kill.

Archer doesn't look very impressive in the revisions for 1.20 but like every other freaking patch, I will most likely be wrong in any and all my assumptions. I honestly hope all classes get playtime. I have always been a MRD at heart, which no one had any love for it till 1.19, but I still like playing my other classes. Would be nice to mix it up and go to the end game content on any class and still be able to compete at some level with the other classes.

I know most of the replies in this thread are not of the serious nature but I just wanted to make a couple comments here about Archer.
First off Archer was my first & main job since launch and I have always enjoyed playing the ranged DPS role so it's always been a little frustrating to see pretty much the entire FFXIV community adopt this "Archers are useless now" mentality since 1.19. I mean I conformed to the masses and didn't try and force my way into Ifrit groups as ARC since I have other jobs leveled and have been mainly playing Lancer or Marauder in strongholds and Ifrit runs.
As this last patches content got old and wore out its welcome, some of us have been trying all kinds of different setups to keep things fresh & interesting. The other night we took a group of 6 ARCs, 1 mage, 1 tank and did a bunch of Ifrit runs just for kicks. Now I'm not going to sit here and tell you it's going to outparse the top end LNCs, and we weren't doing 4 minute kills or so as if we had brought in 6 LNC instead but it wasn't as terrible as 99% of the community seems to think it is.
In fact we were able to down him in what would quality as a speed run and would have got the "Short Order" achievement if we didn't already have it. Keep in mind, everyone was wearing stock gear and no materia as opposed to the double melds on our LNC counterparts so the gap would have closed even a bit more.
In regards to the OP, Multishot isn't gone. It is now called Barrage. And yes, I understand that it only functions with Light Shot, but Foeseeker is gone anyway. With the ARC trait @ 44, it becomes a Trifurcate every 90 sec.
Can we just keep an open mind this patch and not try to pigeonhole any class as useless before we at least give them a try or 2?

The "You" in that parse is Peng, who has been a longtime believer that ARC's damage ceiling is much higher than initially thought, and he was right. Player skill (can you push the right buttons at the right time?) is more significant than class choice right now. ARC's burst damage was drastically reduced and for good reason, but the dmg/TP efficiency was still there.
That's nice to see. I was going to say... I don't have trouble doing damage as an ARC but it's what I've played since launch.
goodbye multishot and welcome barrage!!!! im really excited that after testing the new patch archer is back, altought marauder does a lot of damage now i feel archer is getting up again :D
I fought the moogles tonight and i really enjoyed and was helpful being an archer because all the multishot ws that we have and wide volley its pretty good in that fight, i just need to test lancer and see how it goes i still think that archer wont be the top dps but will be really close now.
I kind of tried duoing some amaljahs with a LNC friend yesterday and was really happy to see about the same DMG =).
besides, no1 has talked about this, but quelling strike seems to be really cool, after doing it your next arrows give 1000TP... is not the 1500TP that 3 arrows of multishot gave before but still nice. i'm positive about this changes
