Is that some sort of "early access" joke ?

As a FFXIV fan, I took my day off for SB, even went through all the troubles to avoid all spoilers to "enjoy" all the changes.

I started as a brd for 1.0, then with ARR, I actually enjoyed playing a bit of everything, especially healing. With HW, I decided to focus on War/Drk and Mnk main (drg for the storyline too).


After enough years of gaming, it's my first time seeing that amount of butchering to a game. I'll stick to dps jobs, but Gods they got creative in f*ing everything.

Glad to see they reduced the number of abilities... sure some were useless, but to that extent, I wonder if they hired Jason to do the job. The disapearance of all the DoT, abilities no dps ever used, was a jerk move...

As a monk I was also pleased to see the devs got ride of my buff bar icons to tell me how many stacks of greased or Chakra I had, and thought it would be better to put a huge visual cue on the screen in case I'd be too blind to take a quick glance up my screen to check a number.

Should I say something about role actions ? That actually made me laugh (a nervous laugh). BfB is gone (except for dragoon, no other dps was using it anyway) and now you have to use one role action slot for stuff that was included with the job leveling before. Found most of the ac tion to be meh for DPS anyway

I was happy with the revamp of abilities on ARR, was a good thing but I fail to see why they had to go to that extend now, unless they wanna turn FF XIV into a korean MMO. Sure, some jobs got a huge dps increase (like bard), but is increased numbers worth the dispearance of skills that added versatility ?

I'll stop ranting, I'm just so disgusted at what they made, it's making me more sad than angry, especially I was waiting for these changes so badly.

Good point tho : stayed an hour in game and them went outside, had a cold beer, and even did some sport... it's the first time an early access I've been expecting is actually motivating me to get a "non geek" day.

Over-dramatic much? No dps outside of dragoon using BFB.....you can't be serious. Every dps in raid prog was required to have it. We all knew ability reduction and consolidation was coming. Everything is going to be ok, I promise.

clearly you re not a MNK player the class got butchered badly ,so allow me to doubt everything will be ok

Monk is fine. It's a little early to be going all doom and gloom especially when you aren't even level cap.

I don't get all the crys as well - it's the first day, THE FIRST day... and everybody is overreacting "my numbers!", "my rota!" "cds don't fit!", "pls adjust xyz!", "to complicate!", "how im supposed to play now!?", "everything sux!" etc... - actually it's not bad (overall) it's just different than before. Dunno why everybody is so hysteric... .___.

Someone once said "progress is questioning the status quo" - every mmo has to evolve somehow or it will die slowly...

I guess I'm one of the less who thinks that SE made a brave step to reroll everything we were used to... bringing us a whole new experience. Many said they are tired of the recycle-policy - now they did something completely new and it's still wrong : /

So from the first leaked tooltips, to early access, MNK looks to be far behind the other DPS. From the beginning people've been telling us to "calm down" and "it's not the final build". Come launch, and almost nothing has changed. Now Stormblood has been released, chakra generation is super slow, Brotherhood is now the worst raid buff in the game, worse even than the media tour and E3 builds, and MNK damage is looking to be the worst out of all the dps. When lvl 70 comes and MNK is behind, will people be telling us to "wait for the 4.1 fixes"? When is it finally okay to complain about the inherent problems in our class?

Why not reaching lvl 70 first and find a proper rota before spreading doom and gloom? : /

Another over dramatic thread, i can understand that after 4.0 everything about your class chance, but at the very least get to 70 have a solid couple of dungeon run, get used to your new class so you can see things up clearly.

Right now my server is full of people yelling stuff like yours "MY NUMBERS" "MY ROTATION" "IT GOT NERFED" "WHERE IS *insert skill here*"

Seriously it got to the point it become a meme now

Monk gets 0 rotational skills from 50-70. Anyone who knew how to play monk in 2.0 already knows how to play monk in 4.0. People thinking you have to play monk at 70 to know its been nerfed badly most obviously have no idea what they are talking about.

Welcome to the world of the 3.x Bard.

It does get better, but probably not until SE sees actual numbers in dungeon and raid instances ... which is when such things tend to get adjusted.

Except SB didn't change Monk's rotation at all. All it did was give us RNG Chakra generation making us spam Forbidden Chakra more. If anything, our rotation got SIMPLER. No ToD to keep up. No Fracture to sometimes keep up. No need to worry about B4B killing you due to using at the wrong time.

Tackle Mastery has no impact on our rotation whatsoever. Wind Tackle is mostly pointless since MNK can now use Sprint, unless MNK really needs a 2nd tackle for some reason. Earth Tackle pushes targets AWAY from us, meaning we get less uptime. Fire Tackle will always be the one to use since it's increased damage.

Riddle of Earth has no effect on rotation. And if you DO try to purposefully proc it then you're putting unneeded strain on healers.

Riddle of Fire lowers our attack speed for a damage buff. Again, no actual changes to rotation here, besides making it slower whenever it's up.

Brotherhood just lets us use Forbidden Chakra more often. Spamming it more often isn't really a rotation change.



So where's the rotation changes?

Noone of you have reached lvl 70 yet, have you? Nor compared your balance to other cls' with hardfacts... everything is based on theorycrafting - I can't understand why everybody is that hysteric after the first day not just you but nearly every other cls as well - balancing or either unbalancing only will be shown if several grp constaltions have been tried out in a serious raid environment until than its way to early to judge anything for real.

edit: personally I think monks will turn out okay like drg did in hw- at least it's one of the promoted jobs for SB aside the new ones. Would be kinda unlogical if it turns out that they are lost on the bottom dps-wise. But that's just me...
