Yep, I'm a wee bit salty about that too. Drawing my EB partner to me outside of combat would have been fun. I get why they did it, but since it would be party members only, I don't think it would have been as big an issue as they were thinking.
Aw... the single good use of this skill and we can't do it :(
I don't even wanna be grabbed, leashed and dragged around in combat >_>
I mean, granted, dungeons are the right place for that, but geeee...
Im worried about Toxic people will use it to troll people.. and THAT will 100% happen..
dragging them to a coming AoE, interupt their combo atks.. -.-
No games of hot popotoes, but pulling the main tank to you so the rest of the party gets tank bustered? Sounds like more fun than hot popoto! /s
EDIT: Or I know! Jump off the ledge and pull someone off with you! That'll be fun!
But you can now pull people into landslides on Titan and cleave the party at will lol
It might have been good to have it working when you rez someone, they get stuck in the animation while a room wide attack/oneshot is coming and you need to yank that poor sod into safety.
I'm looking forward to healers having a bit of fun dragging people around. People act like the 11th Plague of Egypt is healers using Rescue on you for funsies while it's fresh.
I was planning to play around a lot and drive my FC members crazy....sad lala :'(
Don't forget, if we want a reason to spam some cures and boost our lilies this could be the perfect way to ensure people are taking otherwise-avoidable damage too.
(Not serious.)
I'm actually curious about a certain aspect of Rescue. Will it pull people who are stunned or otherwise immobile? Thinking of the applications for mechanics like say, Zurvan's Demon Claw, just pull the tank out of it and he would theoretically whiff his line AoE.
It's lucky for everyone else that they stripped so many things away from WHM that I literally can't afford to set this complete joke of an ability in order to try to get as many of the things they took away from us back as possible -- just to get back to as close to proper working order as we were before as possible.
Darn, I was hoping to use it to make sure everyone was inside the boss area before a pull. Oh well. Check off one good use for the spell.
It would be better if they let players opt-out of a forced movement ability initiated by another player, imo.
Testing it with an FC mate, it's hilarious to see and fun to use. It also bypasses knockbacks and draw-ins, meaning it'll come in handy for multiple fights when combined with Surecast.
would be an odd thing to opt in/out of not to mention the supposed trolling is VERY rare...its also on a 150s cooldown. Last thing I want is to try yank a dps out of bad they are standing in only for it to be wasted because they "opted out"
Skill is not a problem and needs no fixes, other than it being a bit slow imo
I find it a bit not responsive. What I mean is, between the time you click the skill, and the beginning of the target's pulling, there is a delay which can be deadly, as the Rescue skill will only ever be used when we see someone messing up. Also, the speed at which the target moves towards the caster is pretty slow in my opinion too.
I appreciate it, it saves that dumb RDM that's tunnel visioning the boss. There's no adds, there's no big red indicators you aren't supposed to stand in, there is only the boss(Hint: There actually are those things, and they're ignoring the two things in that list that are not the boss)
I have a serious question about this Rescue thing (I didn't use it myself)
Does this have the same animation lock than Benediction? Will we be able to save people in time?
It's SO good in PvP if you get that team trying to isolate or slow you down behind your team. Had a few healers pull me out of what would've otherwise been a KO today and I'm grateful.
This was taken directly from a WoW priest ability and it doesn't get abused there so I doubt it'll be an issue here.
Your faith in humanity is commendable, especially insofar as it applies to fellow players in our beloved sister MMO. Unfortunately it DOES get abused, because MMO players are all cut from the same jib.

I just imagined a party with 7 healers playing dragoonball
I wonder if this could potentially be used to drag players into otherwise inaccessible areas of the world map.
Even though there's obvious troll potential with Rescue, I for one am glad they added the skill. I know there will be instances of trolling, but that can easily be resolved with a kick vote. Meanwhile, intelligent healers can actually make good use of it to save allies when they make a positioning mistake. The only trouble with it is that you need to select a party member to cast it. I suppose that's an obvious necessity, but it also causes some issues, especially for people playing with controller. On PC, if you see someone in trouble you can just click them and cast. With controller, you have to figure out who the person in danger is (we aren't always reading names, after all; we just see that someone's about to get wrecked), then scroll down the list to select them. I almost wish it was just an instant-cast frontal line AoE that dragged the first player character it touched to the caster's location. Sure, it would turn it into a skill-shot ability, but it would also allow us to instantly respond to visual cues without the delay of reading a name then finding that name on a list. That delay is, in most cases, just going to cost us the time we needed to save the player.
This is WoW we're talking about. The King of MMO trolls. A lot of such things described there are impossible in FFXIV anyway. When was the last time you dismounted in the air after using a spell? I've played WoW for years now (including as the class with this skill) and I've never, ever had it used against me in any trollish way (or seen it used for that matter.) Healers in WoW said basically the same things about it initially (eg, now we have to be responsible for the position of the dps too?) but once they started using it, it became a favorite. There are a lot of practical uses for this that make it worthwhile.
Someone in the worst place during an almost floor wide AOE and can't make it in time? Pull them to you. Melee taking splash dmg that you don't have the MP to heal? Pull them to you and get them out of the way. Someone is targeted by stuff that follows and does AOE dmg in the wake but then you need to collapse in one are? Pull them to you. Someone going to get one shot by a mechanic? Pull them to you. That one DPS who gets aggro and runs away from everyone for some goddamn reason? Pull them to you. It's a must-have in PVP too.
I had a run in Temple of Qarn where I was struggling to outrun the sand vortex! I would had outran it eventually but the healer rescued me! :D I was apparently their first rescue and they got my comm! It's a fun skill. I'm yet to use it.
To everyone worried about rescue being abused:
1. Shadewalker never got abused.
2. If a healer wants to kill you, they do not need rescue to do so.
Can it be used if you hit a striking dummy?
