So due to maintenance happening I thought why don't we all run the 1.0 benchmark!
You can download it here and run it for yourself and see what score you get!

Oh!!!!! ;O thank! Need to try this!
Edit: The details and so on looks really amazing, the shadows etc as well!
Ah how cool it was. Way back when... my poor computer was sad. Things looked cool but sometimes... it would just nearly die. Now! I got 7k for a score and it brings back memories of OOh and Ahhh! Of all the things 1.0 had going for it... it was chara detail and those scenes. Too bad ARR couldn't keep those. (Then again, I'm sure the PS3 would have likely died as well. XD)
I never played 1.0, but I did try the Beta and the fight on the boat is etched in my memory. I really liked it and missed it alot when I started 2.x.
I did all three of the city states when I got it... oddly I can't remember if I beta'd it or not... hmm. Anyway all three of them were cool. I think the boat one was the most memorable. Grindania's was fun. And... Ul'dah... well ... XD
I did miss them as well. Though I accepted that things couldn't be the same with ARR.
7116. As someone who skipped 1.0 due to reviews, it's interesting to see the lineage of the modern game.
wow my pc runs 1.0 better than the 4.0 benchmark
Ul'dah is basically the canon storyline as far as 2.0 is concerned. There's no trace of V1.0 in Gridania or Limsa Lominsa's storyline.
(I have screenshots from V1.0 beta and V2.0 beta where I tried all three starting points)
Other than the Moogle in V2.0's Gridania opening, V2.0's openings were all the same "why am I on this cart?" quiz.
In V1.0 however Limsa Lomina's opening is essentially identical to the V1.0 benchmark. Gridania probably has the funniest one however.

You do make a point with that and Ul'dah. The other two aren't really reflected in the ARR storylines aside from which location the Scions are. Gridania was the most fun. They were my favorite pair.
And ARR's was so sad... not in the ; ; way. Just... not as Oooh, and Ah as the previous ones were. *Shakes fist* I could be a Gladiator in Limsa, A Thurmatage in Gridania! (Kinda felt more adventure-y that way.)
4.0 ran way better than the 1.0 benchmark for me XD Also forgot how much 1.0 felt like it was missing some "effect" refinements on my hardware XD (well my current rig is a bit stronger then when I played 1.0 but overall 4.0 runs and looks way better on my setup :P FF 14 1.0 really needed a beast of a rig to run >.>)
The scores on the 1.0 benchmark are different that the 4.0 ones.
they were those:
[8000 and over] Extremely High Performance
Easily capable of running the game on the highest settings.
[5500–7999] Very High Performance
Easily capable of running the game. Should perform exceptionally well, even at higher resolutions.
[4500-5499] High Performance
Easily capable of running the game. Should perform well, even at higher resolutions.
[3000-4499] Fairly High Performance
Capable of running the game on default settings. Consider switching to a higher resolution depending on performance.
[2500-2999] Standard Performance
Capable of running the game on default settings.
[2000-2499] Slightly Low Performance
Capable of running the game, but may experience some slowdown. Adjust settings to improve performance.
[1500-1999] Low Performance
Capable of running the game, but will experience considerable slowdown. Adjusting settings is unlikely to improve performance.
[Under 1500] Insufficient Performance
Does not meet specifications for running the game.
Tons of good memories from those old times ty very much!
Is there a way to run it in full screen and without vsync?
following thread so I can do this when I get home :3
7263, I think I can still run it, god this game brings back memories... Yes it was heavy load but I never had any issues running it and I'm no computer expert.

Here's a good example of how CPU intensive V1.0 was. My computer has a much better video card, but only slightly weaker CPU:

Now compare with every other benchmark (Note all of these were recorded from video on the same day, with the same graphics card, drivers and cpu):

The animations were amazing back then.
Agh~! Memories! Thank you for this!
Wow. I have no idea how I reached Top Stories for FFXIV on Google with this.

I can really appreciate how graphically appealing 1.0 was.
That said, it's sad that the graphics and how intensive they were made it difficult for most PCs back then to actually run the game.
I would love to eventually see my character with the sort of fluidity 1.0 had.
Thanks for posting this! Good way to spend some of my maintenance boredom!
9403.
Not bad. Kinda wish I could play with the settings more than just editing the resolution.
I ran that awhile back. It made me miss the old graphics engine (the textures were significantly more detailed), and also the old cutscenes. It's been painfully obvious since watching it that ARR took a relatively lazy approach to this.
Ironically, in regards to the graphics at least: SE chose to downgrade the engine for ARR, yet by the time ARR released, most hardware could run the old 1.0 engine without any real problems.
It's funny coming on the forums and seeing this. I couldn't sleep last night, so I laid in bed and listened to the 1.0 soundtrack.
I sure miss Grid's old music. :( Hell, I miss most of the old soundtrack, it felt more Final Fantasy to me.
I'd play 1.0 again....maybe. Lol. I don't miss the archaic systems.
Was super awesome scoring over 9k on that benchmark though....when I ran it when it first came out, I got around 1600 and still played the game knowing it would murder my computer.
6430, it's less than half my score for StormBlood in ultra. Wtf
Was bored waiting for the login so i gave it a run , 11060 .
interesting score 2336?
I guess score would be NA, since I'm on a Mac.

Very cool :)
Those animations, textures and models are so much better in that 1.0 demo, I wish they'd bring back that quality!...
I got a crappy 6,259, I definitely need new CPU!...
I got bored today and had the original 1.0 benchmark saved on my PC, I ran it on my Intel 12700k and RTX 4080 (16GB), It does run much better when I was playing the game with a Intel Q6600 and 9800 GTX (512MB). I'm sure I ran this benchmark on a i7 6700k with GTX 770 (2GB), AMD R5 1500X with RX 580 (8GB), and a R7 2700X with RTX 2070 Super (8GB) but I don't remember any of those scores. The score I got with my current set up was 15038. If 7.0 graphic update is close to this, most PC's will be fine now days unless you are running something compared to a GTX 770. Max settings with ARR I was getting around 40-60 fps on my GTX 770. Bumping it to the 580 helped get me a stable 60 because FFXIV uses about 4GB of VRAM.
