We see a lot of the new Gears in 4.0 here and among them are the Samurai Plate armor for all DoW and DoM.

Machinist is even getting a new Gunblade Guns.

What the heck.....why does everyone get samurai plate armor.....that kinda sux. I was hoping it was only for Samurai.....

Samurai Plate is looking pretty slick. Though that it's the first-tier of Raid Gear raises some interesting questions about how the Omega Series may begin and play out.

Other than that I was particularly struck by the appearance of some China Dresses very similar to those that kicked off the chain of "Cash Shop pls". On the one hand, gives me hope for more outfits like the most recent cash shop addition actually being in the game. On the other, makes me regret my purchase of aforementioned cash shop dress, just a bit. But oh well.

The type of Japanese armor that we associate with Samurai was historically used by archers, musket men, lancers, and general horseback cavalry too. The really pretty ornate sets were probably just worn for parades and ceremonies. Just because we call it "Samurai Armor" doesn't mean it was only useful to Samurai.

How much of this is new? A lot looks like what we got. The girlfriend wants to know what the miqo'te at 1:23 is in is why I ask

Isn't that "Gunblade" / double bayonet already in the game? I remember Mide was using the same mesh and I swear I saw someone else using it.

I hope the Chinese looking dresses are purely glamour gear and not tied to a specific job.... they did look like they could be dyed.

You mean the Blue Steel which was the level 41 version of the weapon?

This version is most likely a crafter version for 4.0 as the blade is more black color compared to Blue Steel's Blue blade.

The twitter also revealed a type of Genji armour from the nova crysallis twitter. I was hoping for and Overwatch event for FFXIV but maybe we'll just get inspired glamour.

I'm pretty sure the gunblade in the video is the warwolf knifelock, a pvp weapon you can buy with wolf marks.

Isn't Warwolf the one with a Brown gungrip?

This one has Black gungrip but could be just the lighting of the place they filmed this making it look black.

Might need to double check on some items, but I think at least some of this stuff are items added to the game since January, and since it's technically the "2017" collection then anything from the first half of the year also counts. Also possible that there a few reskins of current dungeon items that will end up being used, and some items that they threw in cause they liked them, or they may even consider the "2017S" collection to include things added after the last collection video was made even if it wasn't actually added in 2017...

But I do think the majority of stuff has all been added in 2017 at some point. The item at 1:23 does seem to fall in this category, as I don't recognize it as an item currently in the game (it looks to me like a stylized bathing suit of some kind, as I assume you're talking about that one and not the piece that looks like the 250 crafted chest just before it).

Are you talking about the Vietnamese Ao Dai with the flower patterns on the dress? All the other outfits shown around that time in the video were pure glamour gear (especially the Songbird outfit), so it's safe to assume this will be too.

Also, I'd like to say, as a Vietnamese girl, I am delighted to see this dress represented in this game. It's pretty much the most iconic dress in Vietnamese culture. Though I don't expect to get much use out of it seeing as I play a male character.

The one the Squall was using?

That looked like the Stone Vigil/Warwolf Knifelock, doesn't look new.

Edit: Might just be a recolor/default color change. A lot of the shown items seemed to be that way. (IE the Poncho)

I'm... not a huge fan of the genji set as a drop from Omega, tbh. I'd like more high fantasy themed gear coming from a dungeon that features an ancient god damn allagan weapon.

Do you want another Alexander situation? Where all 3 tiers are sort-of-the-same and based on the same theme?

As it is, I imagine we'll be getting The Genji gear first, followed by Omega and Shinryu themed gears. Which will be nice for variety's sake.

I don't know, I really loved the designs for the Gordian, Midan and Alexandrian sets. They were similar but different.
