Not a bad idea to have, or to aim for learning but CNJ's have their own -emn spells that work better for how a mage needs to get rid of their spike enmity.
Keep in mind, I currently have Archer high enough rank for Chameleon but will loose it when patch happens. That being said, I only used it in the past a handful of times. Usually only when people are still learning a new fight. Once people know what to do, I never have hate or mp issues. At least with current in game content.Quote:
CNJ Action Level 38: Shroud of Saints
Temporarily reduces enmity by half, and gradually restores MP while effect is active.
Recast Time: 180sec. / Duration: 20sec. Exclusive
However Chameleon might be helpful to THM's. Kinda depends on the fight, and how traits will actually proc.
Hehe not happening.
well keep in mind THM as only a nuker can more or less hang back at the beginning of the battle and/or back off on nuking for awhile if they start pulling hate (How BLM's have been rolling in other games for awhile now). Hate management is harder as a healer only because you have to heal if people are gonna die whether you have hate or not. But like I pointed out, CNJ gets a -enmity ability of there own. So yeah Chameleon will be helpful at times I'm sure, but not nearly as necessary as other abilities have been in the past.
I was already leveling it for Bard :D
Tempting, but I'll be going for Gladiator L22 first - Sentinel.
Why not have all lvl 50 classes and have all abilities?
----------------------------------------------------------^
Chamelon is new? It's been in my action list for many months, I must have hacked or something.
I'm lvling archer for bard job already, but I don't mind a second enmity down skill:)
Currently, yes I would agree and that is the biggest issue with this game. Looking at the skill lists and the fact you can only equip 10 abilities from other class; this fact is about to change.
I play a mage, I have no interest in melee at all. So looking at the skill lists.
Pug leveling past 14 is pointless, all abilites are DoW or exclusive after that.
Gla leveling past 34 is pointless and thats if I really wanted every shield ability.
Mrd leveling past 6 is pointess, unless I really want to taunt as a mage...
Arc leveling past 42 is pointless, for an ability with a 3 min cooldown.
Lnc is pointless overall unless I want invigorate at or keen flurry, but since I wont be using weapon skills...
CNJ and THM are the mage classes so already leveled.
The need of leveling every class to max to not be 'gimped' is ending. The ability to pull from classes is much more restrictive and jobs are said to be even more restrictive.
I hold down a full time job and have mundane social commitments as well. I have no choice but to specialise if I want to play endgame content, something I am finally very close to being able to do.
I'll eventually get to L50 in everything, but it's going to take me a long time. Probably till they raise the level cap.
lol, so now that we dont have to level GLA to 36 but only 24, we have to level ARC to 40+ gratz on being retards SE.
If anyone tells me I need chameleon and have to raise Archer, I expect them to level 1 DoL to the same level for an equally worthless ability you don't need.
^this... Chameleon even if it becomes more awesome is still on a LONG cooldown. So other than maybe saving the day if stuff just went horribly wrong, if things get so bad you need to use Chameleon in addition to the CNJ -enmity ability, well, the whole party is probably screwing stuff up royally. As I said before, currently, I only ever have had to use Chameleon when the party itsself was just learning (and therefore making more mistakes) how to do a new battle.
That being said, there's no reason not to learn it/use it if it'll make you a better mage. But you don't need to go out of your way ranking Archer if you have no intention of ever being an archer/bard. (I'm interested in bard so I've been ranking Archer in my free time.)
blaaaaaaaaa
Chameleon is actually pretty good. They fixed it so that you can use it while the enmity bar is flashing red and still lose the hate.
Of course, you can just sit there and regen MP for awhile since you run out so fast anyway. It's nice to have, but it's no Sentinel.
But when using Sentinel be sure not to cast anything during while its up, since it now also causes you to do high enmity.
Like we have much of a choice when rolling with the blm soul.
LOL to necro-bumps...this is only quasi-relavant now. WHM can't equip it and BLM, while they can, could also STOP casting spells until they stopped pulling hate...I know, it's a concept few wish to contemplate, but if you stop casting the mob stops wanting to eat your face. Oh and Freeze....wonderful freeze.
This being said, if you plan on doing a lot of speed runs etc, then yeah, chameleon helps you cast through your first or second hate tier and can work nicely during freeze cooldowns.
What Kinsey said. It's useful but it's not necessary if you are careful. Quelling Strike and Freeze should be enough to keep your enmity down in most situations.
Yo, this is a speculation thread from before class reform, stop posting in it...
ew archer no thanks , thats the last 1 i wanna level
if I level arch to 42, I may not play blm at all and jsut finish arch.
