Hi, I just come back, and I believe it is only 1-2 weeks before BS early access period. I want to get my gear just enough to continue story in SB. What do you think likely to be the i-level requirement to continue new story?
Well, it's gonna be i230 at the absolute minimum because that's what you need for the MSQ duty before. So that's a given.
I'd say anything above that is a bonus and you'll be getting plenty new gear via the MSQ from that point anyway. If you wanna be safe, shoot for i260, but I doubt that'll be necessary.
early access is 6 days away, and we are assuming that you will need at least a 230 ilvl for SB, since you need a 230 ilvl to end heavensward.
Current story ends at i230 so the new story should pick up from there.
Also the expansion is called "Stormblood" (SB).
Early access is in one week on June 16th, full launch on June 20th.
If it is anything like HW, once you get into new areas, a basic set should be vendor available and the quests themselves will feed you a hq set to sell.. i mean wear
BS is the Black Lodge version of the game.
If they're following the same trend as they did with HW, you'll get plenty of free gear to use during SB.
With ARR, the max ilvl was 135, with the minimum ilvl on gear you got from HW quests being 115.
The max ilvl right now is about 275 (some might argue that the Diadem weapons, with those being 280, would be better but good luck getting one), so I have a good feeling the Sky Rat 255's will be handed to you when you start doing SB.
For now, you can make due with the bare minimum to pass dungeons, but be prepared for a hard time keeping up as most players playing right now will likely have passed the ilvl260 mark.
What we do know for sure is that the level 63 dungeon will be dropping i270 gear. So the ilvl to get into that would probably be 245-255, and you'll probably get the gear to meet that either in 3 levels worth of MSQ/crafting, or the drops from the first SB dungeon. So I think we can safely go with 230 like everyone else has said so far.
Of course, leveling dungeons have never had an ilvl requirement, but knowing what gear they're dropping can certainly be useful in figuring out a good benchmark for entry, and 230 seems just fine.
Well, quests are level bound and leveling dungeons, too. They don't have a min. ilvl requirement (at least until now), that only starts after getting to max level.
But of course you should gear yourself properly. Don't be the equivalent to a tank in Dusk Vigil with pink ilvl 47 weapon and ilvl 30 ring.
Appropiate is anything +/- 15 ilvl compared to the gear you can buy on the market board at the according level.
there will be crafted gear available to pick up, some propably sold by npc
Oh, I just realize, so you mentioned that all the story related dungeon never check i-lv ?
what they did in heavensward was basically just take the absolute top of the line crafted gear at level 50 and make a comparable first craftable gear at 51
so... skyrat is 250 so i would guess 61 gear will also be 250
story quest ends at 230 so very likely 230 will get you in the door and a bunch of early story quests will reward HQ level 61 stuff to catch you up fast
and top of the line 270 gear will probably last to 65ish range before being outdone, which may sound lame but that's a lot of levels of being OP
Garo (PVP gear) is probably the easiest and fastest i235 gear (complete set incl. weapon and accessoiries) you can get.
Just gotta farm Frontlines a while.
If it follows the pattern from 2.0-3.0 expansion the base ilvl for 60 will be 255 vendor gear, 270 gear will be bis until you hit 64and i275 weapons will be bis until 66
You means that I will be able to buy 255 gear from vendor so I don't have to care about ilv over 235 for now?
I try Dun Scaith, but it seem tank gear rarely drop there. Probably they make it so that tank gear has least chance to drop? I run for 6 runs and not see any drop.
That's what they did for Heavensward. Vendors in Ishgard sell i115 NQ gear, and also the level 50 MSQ gives i115 HQ gear.
The equivalent to Heavensward's i115 in Stormblood will be i255. First few level 60 MSQ will probably give out i255. The first dungeon probably will drop i260.
If you can clear the HW MSQ you are already set for SB. There won't be any ilvl requirements until the first dungeon (none technically, but you don't want to be so undergeared that you are dead weight to your party). If HW was any indication, SE will make sure you have adequate gear by the time you hit that first dungeon. I'd guess that new gear is gonna be something new a geared lvl 60 crafter should be able to hit, will be HQ, and in the i255 range. You'll also get weapon and accessories, not just left side. The NQ variants of that same gear will be purchasable from NPC.
There's an MSQ in Bull****?
Presumably you will be able to buy ilv260 gear with poetics anyway. I wouldn't worry about ilv... at bare minimum the quests will provide you sufficient gear for the first dungeon.
If Stormblood is like Heavensward, you will have no need to buy vendor NQ gear (on first job through). The first few MSQs in Stormblood will have 255 HQ rewards, they will be at a true item level of 255. You'll get them before the first dungeon of Stormblood. 230-235 is all you need right now. You don't need to go further to be ready for SB unless you want to go for 270 to overgear the early dungeons.
