with the recent nerfs and buffs, anyone planning to change his/her main job?

Personally, i been playing scholar for some time. with the upcoming SCH nerfs and buffs to AST, i am not willing to change to AST myself, so i am thinking to actually stop playing healer, maybe try one of the other jobs and see if i like it.

is anyone else disappointed for their main job and looking to change? tell us why you think it's not exciting to play that job anymore, and what do you think you might play!

I've been playing Pld/Sch/Brd since 2.0 and I'll continue doing so, with Pld being my main since my first week of playing. Not to mention I promised my BF that I'd be the shield to protect him from harm when we got married in game, and I'll continue to do so~

that's very romantic bacent, love it. yes that is something else to consider, your in-game partner and your friends what do they need. I think that will influence my decision at the end. but it does not hurt to try a few jobs in the expansion :)

As for the question itself, I'll be sticking my with my classes that I've been using since 2.0 as well. Summoner as my main DPS, Scholar for healing, and Paladin as my tank. I will be testing every class of course but so far I think it will be the same as it always has been for me.

I think Red Mage might be more fun than black mage...

I've always been BRD/MCH main and I'll still main them in Stromblood. Play SCH/AST as secondary jobs. Planning on playing my tanks more and get better at them. Probably gonna replace Healers --> with Tanks as my secondary role in Stromblood.

Don't look at the nerfs and buff negatively yet, they still need to be tested in new content :)
Many jobs got reworked and therefore either nerf or buff was needed to balance them.

I personally don't​ like the direction of how I see my main job smn that I have been maiming since the beginning of 2.0 is going. So I'm concidering changing my main to Red mage until the time if it ever happens that Square-enix would put dancer into this game. If dancer gets put in this game ever I'll main dancer. But for now it will be Red mage.

Bard is getting reworked entirely and I can already feel that my damage output is going to take a heavy hit. Even so, I love the class so much to abandon it for such a silly reason. I'll make it work, somehow.

White Mage on the other hand... I'll most likely still play it as my main healer due to its heavy burst damage, but I won't be taking it into any serious content.

All buffs and nerfs are subject to change. I'll wait for the full patch notes before anything. You all should probably do same and save some nerves...

I have been playing MNK/WAR/WHM/BLM/BRD as my "mains" on respectivly role.
I was very hyped about RDM but idk anymore after seeing actual tooltips and gameplay. I will give it a try before i pass it down though.

SAM however looks very interesting even though I wouldn't be surprised if it going to get a nerf before launch or shortly after.

I was a DRK main (originally MNK main in 2.0) in Heavensward, and will be switching to (most likely) SAM or, if it turns out to be unfun, MNK due to the DRK being gutted and looking much less engaging to play. I will be giving him a try after figuring out if SAM is fun and engaging and see if theory holds up to practice, but I am one of 3 tanks switching to DPS in my guild because of the changes.

I played WHM through 2.0 and SCH through 3.0. Now neither interests me at all. I thought I was done with healing altogether until I saw the new AST skills. I will go either with AST or SMN.

I've been a WHM since ARR beta. The changes made to WHM don't look that great to me honestly so I'm switching to AST as my main.

You'll make it work, plus with all the support spells in your arsenal, you're gonna find groups in high-level contents.

Been pugilist since 1.0 and mnk since it was added and not planning on changing anytime soon. I dabble in every job to get proficient at them anyway so everything will get recapped to 70 before long.

I've drifted mains all throughout my time playing, from BLM to BRD to DRG to DRK. At this point I'm not sure I even have a true "main", considering I've leveled every job to 60. That said I have BLM and all three tanks geared up to the teeth, healers close behind of which AST is my favorite.

In Stormblood I'll probably be starting out as PLD. Then once the hype dies down and dps queues become more acceptable again I'll have a try at RDM. It looks very much like something that's right up my alley - caster dps with support heals. I already spend way too much time Clemencying as a PLD. XD

I'm a DRG main since 2.0, while they seems to be getting even more refined in 4.0 I'll still be switching to SAM as I'm a giant sucker for katana XD

Possibly, I man a bard right now but im not sure about the changes. They seem great but it looks like the job is going to be very complicated and I enjoyed bard because it was fairly simple. Red Mage apparently seems pretty simple according to all the youtube videos Ive seen so I may give it a try if I cant get comfortavle with Bard again (plus im really gonna miss the wide volley animation)

i did play monk since V1, it was the only job i did level up to 50 at that time.
i do play other jobs time to time, like pld/war...

sadly with stormblood i will put my monk on hold, mostly because the new thing showed soo far are not interesting... the monk have barely evolved in 4 years and will probably not evolve more for another 2 years... yes we did get a few ogcd skill, but most of the change barely affect our combo system or even offer a nice add to the jobs, the chakra system is bad in many way, instead to reward player that keep them fight going on... we will need a trait for make it usable, what must been there from the get go. for get access to one tp gain (useless with invigorate) and one attack.
i will not talk of the tackles mastery that is for me the biggest slap in the face we can get... a mastery for a charge usable only every 30 sec... seriously? worst one of the charge change give knockback to this charge, meaning, you are a melee that will charge an enemy from far....for... push it from you?

all in all, no new attack or really interesting system added to the monk... that still the only jobs that have a severe downside if you mess us. if you loose greese lightning you are good for 20-21 second with subpar dps. greese lightning that is the center core of our jobs haven't really get any improvement. we did get a few more second of duration, with sb it will be a 16 second duration. when every other jobs buff have 30 second duration or come from trait, ninja have the same speed buff and them damage buff is now a trait. really?

the combo system... we use the same cycle (and it was tune down) for 4 year. no new add, no new interesting tool... you know the worst, when HW did come out, when i have seen the dragoon get a 4th hit in his combo, i was there.... "why? why the monk that is based on form and free combo can't get a 4th combo?" and it's worst... Dragoon get a 5th hit combo... for god sake? the monk second core mechanic is the combo system, why it didn't evolve!

and the most sad, since our community is rather small... we can scream and say "hello, your change are bad, we need more, can we get some real evolution for our job" no will heard us. we are not the whm, with every patch, our community of player have reduce more and more and more... we are less wanted in raid than ever and will probably be even more less wanted. brotherhood is not enough for justify the place of the monk, it's a 2 minute cool down increasing the damage of people around the monk only of 5%.

when ninja place a debuff every minute that increase the damage of the whole group of 10%. even the dragoon, with battle litany and his piercing debuff offer more than brother hood. and sadly our dps will not be enough for compete with the sam. that will have no downside like greese lightning.

then with sb, after many years as monk, i stop the monk. i see no reason to continue to play a jobs that have barely evolved in 2 expansion pack. and i'm not the only here....

the most ironic is, the monk in the V1 was horrible, simply horrible. even at that time i did play it. but after a while i can't continue to support a jobs, that SE clearly don't want anymore. Dragoon did get tons of new tool, far more new tool, when monk have barely evolved and more new jobs added can offer more utility or more damage than us.
i have said it on the dps forum... monk don't need a balance, monk don't need the skill they have planned for us... we need a freaking rework with a real direction and for one time real evolution of our jobs. until then, the monk will slowly disappear, less and less and less player will continue to play it. even people like me that have support it throught v1 can't go on anymore.

ps: i really hope SE will react really fast, because the situation is critical now. if they don't do something really fast the #deletemnk will not be needed since almost no will play monk anymore.

After maining bard for 3 and a half year, i won't be playing it anymore in Stormblood.

I know a lot of people have been asking for this kind of bard for a long time but, i'm pretty sure i'm not going to like it at all.

Having to constantly swap song every 30 sec to get different benefit is going to get on my nerve quickly.

Bloodletter proc + aoe proc tied to a song... NO, JUST NO.

I'm also probably going to play Paladin instead of Warrior now ^^

My main has been white mage (and conjurer before that) since 1.0 release, so I'm definitely not changing her to any other job. I do have some things semi-levelled, but somehow it doesn't feel right playing anything other that white mage.

So, I've created an alt a while ago, and been levelling him as dragoon and going through ARR main story. The idea is to swap to samurai (most likely) and then continue the story, but only after finishing Stormblood with my main.

Before I saw anything I was quite undecided between WAR and MNK but now I'm probably going to main MNK but still play WAR because we have a loooooooot of DPS in our FC.

I've been AST since HW release and I will stay AST till they give us a dancer class!

I'm playing MCH and I'm pretty sad about losing perma gauss. It fits the class so well and it felt natural animation wise. Wanderers Minuet felt terrible to me but gauss barrel was perfect. Hopefully MCH opener stays tricky and hopefully with this new heat mechanic there will be something to think about.

I guess I'm just afraid SE is going to make rotations super braindead.

I've been playing conjurer and white mage since A Realm Reborn launched. I will still continue to main a white mage after Stormblood launches. All of the white mage changes are actually extremely attractive to me. I honestly believe people went in with certain expectations for white mage and decided to throw temper tantrums when they didn't get certain things.

Because the nerfs hit the SMN at all levels of play, playing it level synced at this point will be painful, likely you'll only be able to play it decently at 70th level and even then it will be questionable. Let alone actually working one up from scratch... forget about enjoying anything about that part.

Summoner got gutted to the point where it lost a good 30% of its single target DPS and 60% or more of its AoE.

I think right now most Summoners are going... wow they can't possibly be that stupid to think the thing will still be viable. So they're waiting it out to see if they change their minds...

But if these changes werent some kind of mistake... and it really is going to get nerfed into the ground like that... yeah you can expect them to bolt the job in mass numbers.

I suspect at this point given my reads of other forums and the attitude from Summoners that they're taking a wait and see approach. So basically Square has until launch to prevent the mass exodus... because if they don't fix it by then it will likely be too late to do so.

No one wants to play a broken class or job.

I don't. I will still play MNK, WHM and PLD. I will give Samurai a shot though depending on how I like it it will be the 4th class to gear (oh boy lol)

I plan to level up WHM to 50 THEN...I will switch over to SAM and make that my main and I won't look back.

Im going to stick with Ast, ive been playing Ast since day 1 of 3.0 and see it go through many changes and im looking forward to learning all the technical applications of of the new abilities.

Dragoon changed little, thus it will likely be among my first to 70. Samurai, however, has really piqued my interests; enough I've strongly considered switching mains. I'll absolutely be cycling between the two assuming Samurai plays well. For non-mains, I am far more intrigued by Paladin than I ever have been otherwise. Likewise, the removal of cast times makes me want to give Bard a whirl.

On the other side, my interest in White Mage plummeted considerably, though I'll definitely take the job for a spin. I also haven't rediscovered my love for Monk. Granted, that has nothing to do with the changes. It's just lower on my list.

Dropping scholar alt class for NINJA. I main Dark Knight. If I am going to dps I might as well do it as a dps.

My main is hard to identify. In Heavensward, I started Summoner and changed to Scholar for raiding, and then back to Summoner, and then back to Scholar, and then Summoner, and then Astrologian.

Overall, I have the most experience raiding with Scholar, most experience in Heavensward with Summoner and am currently an Astrologian main.

In Stormblood, I am not even planning to level SCH/SMN until after RDM, AST, BRD, BLM and MCH. I'm leaning towards maining RDM, though.

My decision has been clear before all of the job changes and remains unaffected even now. Summoner is my main and that will not change.

I will always main tank, that's never going to change. And I always have 1 healer and 1 DPS to play when I don't feel like tanking.

Before 3.0, I mained PLD with DRG and SCH as my sub jobs. Once 3.0 hit, I amusingly switched to DRK main with AST healer and MCH DPS sub jobs.

With 4.0, if the balance is as bad as it appears, then I will likely switch back to PLD main. I will be keeping AST healer and likely bounce from MCH to RDM DPS (as I have always loved RDM... was my main in FFXI). If tank balance doesn't end up as bad as it appears, then I will stay with DRK as I much prefer DRK gameplay and aesthetic.

Can't main WHM cause they have nothing to bring to a raid. Can't main AST cause they be too OP. Can't main SCH cause they can't DPS anymore. Can't main RMG or SAM cause running animations and lack of support buffs. Can't tank or dps cause reasons. So that leaves me with BOT or MIN cause FIS (ugh). Was thinking BOT, but there's something just so satisfying about the thunk with a HQ quarry success.

I'm a Monk, and I'm going to complain about the changes we got until they aren't garbage.

I'll probably level Samurai as a backup for raid since I'll be gearing it simultaneously.
