Red Mage sprint animation

I know this probably won't go well and is likely to get ignored... by am I the only one disappointed with the Red Mage running and sprint animation? Red Mages have this elegant feel to their animations but the run looks kind of... goofy. Machinist used to be the masters of sprinting goofy, but even they got a better looking one this expansion. I'd prefer it if it looked more like the AST one, which to be honest, I expected it to look like.

Any one agree? Disagree?

Lol it doesn't even look bad. He's a swordsman. The blade should remain ahead of him so he can easily get into formation for thrust attacks.

For me he's just like he's leaning forward too far like he's a jet running down a runway about to take off XD I mean it's not terrible but it is kind of funny looking

Until I saw this thread I had no idea that jobs other than NIN had unique sprinting animations. Do all jobs jave them or just the 2.4+ ones?

Here is DRG, MCH, SAM and WAR.

It's not that it is BAD, it just doesn't look very pretty is all. I would've liked the crystal medium arm to extend back a little more like AST, as of now, holding both the sword and the crystal forward makes it look goofy as he wiggles his shoulders when running. Looks very uncomfortable.

Oy...here's my important question: which mount is the most Red Mage-y?

Hrm... Amber Draught Chocobo or a basic chocobo with dalamud red coat, or if you have it legacy choco is a good fit I think. But my first choice is the Amber Draught Choco from friendship campaign.

I think it looks pretty good actually.

Why... would you use a lalafell, at night, to show off character animations. Of all of the things you could've done.

I think Ninjas will still have the best running animation...

That's what I was thinking "That sword is awfully close.." between that and the parachute I can see a Lala running, wind picks up and they drift back swinging in the air. Though if their sword gets stuck I can see them just flipping over it and pull it back out of the ground and keep running. Lala's...graceful lil cabbages.

I agree with the at night thing, but I believe at least somewhere maybe in the youtube comments, that the creator said they were given lalas to use, so that's on SE :p

Yeah i do too, i don't see what the issue is.

Even sprint animations are motive to complain now

I've seen worse, but the SAM definitely has a better looking sprint.

Honestly the Astro running animation with their weapon out is one of my favourite in game, it looks so appealing to me. In contrast the Summoner/Scholar running animation bothers me to no end so every single time I sprint I sheath my weapon because my eye starts to twitch O.o (Side note when are they gonna let us switch the dominant hand of our characters. I want to hold my summoner book in my left hand because alike to the Astrologian I typically would flourish my motions with my dominant hand when drawing cards/casting spells INNER TURMOIL!!!)


As for the Red Mage Running animation I know other people have stated that it makes sense the way that they are running but honestly I was expecting something a little more refined, I literally can't stop thinking "boop boop boop boop" as I watch his feet in that video XD I think something like having the hilt faced forward with the blade back to their left side and the crystal held above during their run would look nicer. It would still look like they would be prepared to slash at a moments notice but without the awkward sword swinging that the current animation has. That being said, I'd probably run goofy if I had a long sword hanging out in front of me, so I guess it will grow on me.

Bahahahaha that is goofy. As Current MCH I feel all future RDM pain.

Shirolumi, do you know why I'm here? Because it bugged me so much that I want this message to be heard. It feels so uncomfortable to watch Red Mage running with their sword out!!! I hate the look of it so much that I want as many people as possible to complain about this. It looks like the sword is about to fall off his hand and the direction of it looks as if he has a carpal tunnel that he cannot hold it straight... absolutely love the play style but hate the animation!!!! TOTALLY JOINING YOUR CLUB!!! If only both sword and the little trinket thingy both float on his side as he run/sprint just like the AST or Ninja, that would be so awesome!!! If the Trinket can float, why not the sword???

True. The sprint look great but the default running animation is quit.... Well... I mean why the samurai is pulling his sword down on the floor? Is it that heavy? Even DRK with their massive sword look cool in running and sprinting.

I always put my Rapier away when running as it does look silly, lol

When it comes to DRK, I really do like our Sprint animation, but our normal run? Nah, I so hate it. I get our Great Sword is heavy, but still...

they should remove the medium and keep the sword, rdm shouldn't become blm to use spells. they should use the sword like a wand then dash in and treat it like a blade/fencing sword. the casting animations looks stupid

DK run actually looks silly also now that i think about it

The way RDM holds the weapon while running has always bothered me, it just looks clunky.
