Can we atleast have the option to start new jobs from level 1 ?

Im a big fan of leveling in every MMO i play, im asking you to make it optional for those who want to start the new jobs (RDM-SAM) from level 1, it wont hurt anyone if this is our decision, also it will give me a chance to learn the job/skills/rotation from the scratch...make it happen pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee =(

This is also an option if you don't want your abilities gained piecemeal.

I'ma play nitpicky here, only because there's an actual thing about doing that.

If they allow you to do that, then SE has to spend more time for 4.0 making weapons for the 1-50 leveling content. Although that's more chances at nice glamour, it's also more time spent on low level content and not time spent on the new stormblood content.

I do recommend though, if you want to learn it bit by bit, to queue for lower level dungeons. That way you learn the pieces as you go through the dungeons.

just take the job and queue Sastasha and work your way up one dungeon at a a time from there. there's nothing to learn from 1-15 that you can't learn in Sastasha or do PotD like the other guy said.

As someone with some game dev experience: that would be a development nightmare. If you start at level 1, they need to also provide gear for you to equip from level 1. It is all fine and dandy with just letting you equip anything monks/blm can equip (for Sam/Rdm respectively) but you still have to create equivalents of every single weapon line in the game, and itemize dungeon drop lists, NPC vendors, and crafting recipes with all of it. You may get away with not itemizing certain lines (like relic/anima/primals) but not doing standard dungeons and NPCs would be highly problematic.

BTW, I'm with you, I like leveling up in general, although I'm not a fan of leveling up through the game as it is now. I would like it much more if we had more elaborate and unlimited Levequests.

Nice idea OP, and the PoTD remark doesn't make sense and that's not even the same to begin with, we know what you mean! Pretty good idea.

I agree with the OP. PotD is not the same as starting as level 1. PotD feels rushed and just a zergfest most of the time. It's not the same as learning how to play your job correctly from the beginning. I already feel like starting at lvl 30 was confusing enough with having to learn all new actions/abilities for DRK, MCH, AST. Other than AST, I still havent really levelled MCH and DRK because I really didnt like being forced into level 30 right away. Starting at lv.50 is going to just be that much more confusing because there will be even MORE actions to learn to use properly. Atleast give us a potion or something to reset their level to 1 for those of us that want to do it naturally. Or just give future jobs level jump potions since your already making those anyways.
I get a lot of enjoyment from leveling my jobs from the beginning. It's part of what I really love about FFXIV. I have created so many alts already just because I enjoy reliving the story and leveling up so much.

Early PotD is actually a very good place to learn your skills piecemeal. My hubby had issues with DRK starting where it did and he said after using it in PotD and getting the skills one at a time, he had a much better grasp of things. So doing 1-50 to learn is not a bad idea.

I feel like stuff dies too fast in PotD, I never get a chance to really use the job until it slows down in the PotD 40-50 levels.

I'd like the option of once a month you're allowed to reset a job (like a prestige system) and when you level it up again at 60 you're rewarded with a bunch of tomes, materia, seals, and gil for example. Maybe an achievement tied to doing it 1-3 times. Also I'd like the option of seeing what quest/objectives other people have up, in order to help leveling new people, but thats a side concern.

Thats what I have been doing, but again, its just not the same feeling. There really is no reason why the jobs have to start at 50 or 30 other than to make it quicker for folks to jump into newer content. I'd be happy if they'd just provide the new jobs a complimentary level jump potion in the Collector's Edition for those that wanna just get to end game right away, but otherwise have the new jobs naturally start at lvl 1. (otherwise whats the point of making the level jump potions)

Early potd is good for experimental gameplay, similar to trying some things via dummy. However, if you're looking for some in-depth experience like say, trying out a full rotation and/or skill combos, it's better to practice them in a dgn where there's a better group activity setting.

Another alternative to dungeons, PotD and dummy training... create a solo dungeon in the Hall of the Novice area that caps our level down to certain intervals. (For example lv. 1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70.) Just have the dungeon difficulty scale based on the level we've set. This way we could familiarize ourselves with the actions at each interval and build on what we learn over time in a comfortable learning environment.

Not to mention it would give Hall of the Novice some extra use beyond just learning your role.
