So looking at the potency per mana cost of all our skills it seems like the optimal way to spend mana with these numbers is using it entirely on Blackest Night >>> Non DA Bloodspiller >>>> Blackest Night >>> Non DA Bloodspiller.... repeat since BN/NonDA BS is .158 potency per mana which is the highest of all our skills and only on a 15 sec cooldown unless I am missing something.
Now It looks like BS is on GCD so if you take the average potency of a gcd for normal SE combo and add it to potency of DA/CS it looks like DA/CS will actually have more potency per mana by a bit with the gcd cost factored in but seems to me BS is still better than all other uses.
Someone tell me why this is wrong please.

Blackest Night is a 15 second CD. You can't just alternate the two. That's why it's wrong. You're actually going to have to spend MP elsewhere and you're actually going to have to use other attacks.

Yes but including DA/CS thrown in you are not going to generating much more than one extra DA worth of mp every 15 sec (which is the cost of BN) so aside from the occasional mana dump during the 15s cooldown which for the sake of argument well say goes on DP on CD, you would never have a situation aside from maybe the opener where you would DA/SE or DA/Syphon.
Edit: Not to mention we are talking about have a 20% hp shield every 15s as part of the drk rotation, thats crazy. -

Darkside is no longer eating MP. New Delirium gives a ton of MP on top of extending whichever Blood __ MP recovering ability is up.
Functionally speaking we're going to have far more MP to burn in Stormblood than we do now, even considering that the change to Blood Price would mandate more frequent Grit use. Limiting your MP spending to Dark Arts Carve & Spit and Blackest Night would be rather wasteful.
I don't see us making much use of DA Syphon Strike or DA Dark Passenger, as the MP cost there apparently increased to match DA itself, but I fully expect to see it still seeing regular use on Abyssal Drain, Souleater, and Dark Mind as the situations demand. -

I think in savage content grit is going to be nonexistent with the enmity tools coming available, certainly not being used outside of openers so aside from the long CD delerium mp boost I think we effectively lost blood price at that level so our mp regen is gunna be a bit less than we are used to. Outside of that though for those who tank in grit I definitely see your point and yah im not implying limiting your use to this its just becoming the top of our mana priority which is obviously not intended I think since that translates to basically a stronger DA/CS every 15 seconds with a 20% health shield to boot. But like I said I see where you are coming form so I think we agree on its place on the mana spending priority in the rotation.

I'm not so sure that we'll be seeing tanks capable of staying out of tank stances anymore. On the other hand, I don't see sitting in those stances forever as something that'll work either. Tanks as a whole are going to need to learn how to manage both I think.

I suppose it will depend on how large the dps/tank damage gap becomes but at least in a dedicated static between shirk, all dps aggro cross class aggro dumps and shadewalker if you have a ninja. The damage gap would have to be tremendous to require me to be in grit anymore. Outside of statics where that can be coordinated I think you are absolutely right that the story will be different.

You're severely underestimating DRK's MP generation.
You build a DA in 5 Blood Wep/Price ticks, half of a DA with a Syphon Strike, you're going to have a LOT more places to burn MP than on TBK. You're not wrong in that non-DA Bloodspiller is great MP efficiency, but it requires more Blood than MP, and you'll have to spend that excess somewhere. Most likely on DA CnS > DP > DA Bloodspiller > DA Souleater > DA Syphon, in order of highest to lowest priority.
DRK is going to be burning a ton of MP, 50 Blood every 15s is fast yes, but DRK will be able to pop TBK on cooldown with Syphon Strike combos alone, not even accounting for Blood Wep/Price or Delirium. -

Tank swaps with Shirk will keep the MT well ahead of everyone else, and Ninja opener is already OP. Not only that, but in a paladin/drk comp, both tanks can help each other out with tank busters (Cover, Blackest Night, Intervention, Passage of Arms). Seems pretty strong without any tank stance.Quote:
