Can't wait to see all the anger this causes!
Zomg i hate this it makes this game easy mode cause i can see the gather points now!!!!!!!
lol
YES! I was hoping that we may get an actual ability that pinpoints harvest/spearfishing/quarry points down the line, so this is definitely a welcomed addition instead.
I absolutely agree!!! :D Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I am happy about this a nice addition :)
Why not just hand us the resources already?
This further endangers the economy that is completely saturated with an abundance of materials. It doesn't really matter that they added this but this isn't what gathering needed.
The map markers will show locations of nodes. This does not mean those nodes are necessarily to be active at that time, or that they are available to harvest again. Use of the skills will still be required.
Nothing to complain about here.
It's speeding up the process of gathering materials. The correlation is clearly there. More speed = efficiency. If people are now gathering materials at a faster rate, you are introducing more materials in to the market. Is there anything that doesn't go over your head?
I remember when I made this suggestion right after the lodestone forums went up
the ammount of hate i got over it was hilarious
Not surprised. It's the FFXIV forums. There are an abundant supply of players like Lucy here who don't understand that the marked nodes are neither necessarily active nor available for harvest. They simply serve as little markers to get an idea of which node your ability pointed you to once you get closer.
lol... Stop describing yourself.
Instead of ad hominems and provocative posts, why not try to explain what I don't know about what I'm saying? Right, it requires you to first understand what I'm saying. Pop some scrolls Lucy, you're gonna need a lot more xp before you gain that ability.
I'm kind of sad about this..I liked gathering, and I liked that few other people did it because most thought it was too much of a hassle to remember mining spots, search for new ones or even just use a map from the internet.
With this, more people will do it and gathering won't be something special anymore where I can be alone and enjoy the scenery without other players..
And they will empty my secret mining spots, too:(
I'm aware the above is an absolutely childish reaction, but that's how I honestly feel about this change.
Like I said before, I don't mind the idea; I do mind though the timing of the implementation. It's only going to introduce more resources in to the market.
They should first figure out how to remove the excess before they introduce this. I've already said this three times. You guys in your need to argue, only pick out the parts where I seem most upset.
I'll say it once more; I don't mind the idea.
I think I will add my voice to this and say "Thank you" as well. :D
No more wasting 5 minutes looking for a node that is actually behind you... yes, it happened to me. >.<;
Course they add this after my miner is already 50 after much fun running around for hours....
I could care less about this feature, but like Chocobos did to one of the Gatherer abilities, this make the other gatherer ability useless.
Why do they even have skills anymore?
I love this idea. It benefits everyone and might reduce the prices in the wards for specific items that are still a little expensive.
I love when patches piss people off.
Your anger= my happniness
Go back to page 1 and read my post. It makes nothing useless.
~~~
Oh and Lucy, I didn't say you blamed SE for breaking the game with this idea or such - rather implied you sounded like it even if you meant not to.
Also I further demonstrated how this does not make gathering so much easier that it will flood the market. Your prediction doesn't hold up I'm afraid.
I saw that. Thank you. ^^
The map shows all the nodes at all times, regardless of their status. This is precisely what anyone has access to via third party maps already.
Point: This changes nothing besides me no longer having to alt-tab between the game and a browser repeatedly while gathering.
it wont
people who dont want to gather still will not gather
people who gather way too much will continue to do so
this doesnt change the fact that people will gather and others wont in the slightest
its not like a ton of people are going to gather for this reason alone, now the achievemnts....those may get people gathering for the hunters, but thats another story ad it wont be as many as you think
I wonder why everything anyone writes in these forums turns into a flame war... Oh wait that is why I normally avoid posting :P
By the way if you are concerned about overabundance of materials, remember that in the patch notes they stated that the amount of items per gathering attempts will be reduced for a selected resources like cobalt. This was maybe introduced to counter balance the faster gathering process.
Either way I really appreciate markers being displayed on the map.
What I like about this is that now when I use disciplesofthehand.com to look up where to get specific ingredients for cul since they didnt mention recipe revamps, I dont have to keep checking in game map and comparing it to find node that matches up. Overall and without playing anything yet ofcourse, I now feel loads better about the direction of classes. Go Go Fists of Earth/Fire.
Best change in this patch imo.
lol the opposition against this is laughable. Inundate materials on the market?? If the gatherer in question is +20 they already know where the points of interest are!
good job dev team!
give and take lol:
[dev1273] A single gathering attempt will now yield no more than one of the following items, as opposed to the previous maximum of three.
Cobalt Ore / Electrum Ore / Carbonized Matter / Petrified Matter / Fossilized Matter / Crystallized Matter / Germinated Matter / Decayed Matter / Decomposed Matter / Liquefied Matter / Calcified Matter / Cultured Matter / Ossified Matter / Cretified Matter
I wonder why they insist of making it harder on the blacksmith/goldsmith. I mean with Gathering wood it's only 1 piece of log to make lumber but ore on the other-hand takes 3-4 pieces to make the ingot. With how much it takes I just find it odd that they think it's a good idea to limit the amount of ore you can get to one. If anything ores quantity should range from 1-5 lol.
On topic though at least it'll be easier to find those damn secondary nodes, if there was one prob with gathering that may be fixed slightly now is that the materials found through the main tool were more plentiful since those nodes were easier to find. With the % of obtaining items from secondary node as well as blindly seeking them out it made it harder to increase the quantity of those in the market.
I thought that they were going to allow players to make marks on their own maps like we could in FFXI. I found this a very useful mechanism because I could mark camp sites, nm spawn points and notes that would alert me to aggressive mobs and mining or gathering points if I chose to do so.
Hopefully they will have a method of filtering so that these map marks are able to be displayed or not displayed at the players discretion.
In my opinion it is making gathering way too easy. Why even have Gulleye, Arbor Call or Prospect now that the points will be marked on the map?
Good decision, this is needed.
As someone mentioned before this will probably show all active points(Maybe even just all points) regardless of if they are currently gatherable or not. Honestly this doesn't really hurt anything it just helps new players I mean I already know all the botany points like the back of my hand this just makes it so everyone else does too.Quote:
*Sidenote*
If this actually only shows ones where you can actively gather that I'm not so sure I'm pleased with but I don't know know if I'm unpleased with it either since I still have miner and fisher to go at some point.
This is a good change.
Showing only active nodes would render certain DoL abilities obsolete. Considering the abilities in question were not abolished, the map will display locations where nodes appear. It will not display only active ones.
I've been saying the same thing since page one. I'm done rephrasing myself.
